“Nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

We spent three nights in Playa Bejuco. Nice hotel. Nice swimming pool. It is close to the beach, not on the beach. It is not a swimming beach (august). The waves are too high and the beach itself is nice to walk on, not for sunbathing. The breakfast and dinner were good. Rooms nice, spacious, clean.

We didn't stay at the hotel but we discovered it as we were staying in a house nearby. Our first day in Costa Rica we arrived super early in the morning to San Jose on a Sunday. We drove for 2 hours to the coast and were searching for a place to have breakfast or any kind of food. We tried 3 other locations before stumbling on the hotel. While they were technically finished with their breakfast hours and were on break before lunch they opened up the restaurant for us this morning and served 6 hungry adults and 5 starving kids. They were very kind and very attentive. I can't say enough about how well they treated us. The prices were very reasonable and they even let the kids swim in the pool. We went back two other times for lunches because we were just so impressed. They are just up from the beach and they are a great group of people. I'd definitely stay there if I ever needed a hotel.

My family stayed at this hotel two nights and we passed a good time. The room was very clean and it has a nice pool. The beach is in a walking distance. They gave us a good price for 4 (2 adults and 2 children).

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor are closer to the pool

We really loved our stay at this hotel. It is not for everyone, especially if you are high maintenance, but we thought it was wonderful. The hotel and the grounds are nicely maintained and very clean. The rooms are large, clean, but have not changed much probably from the 1970's. So we found it kind of funky. The hotel is a very short walk down the road to a beautiful secluded beach. The ocean was warm and the kids had a great time in the waves. The pool at the hotel was a great place to return to after the beach. The breakfast by the pool was very good. We had dinner at the restaurant both nights of our stay and thought the food was good and reasonable. The owner and the other hotel employees were wonderful and very helpful. We had no complaints at all and the price was right.

I spent two nights in April here and enjoyed my stay. The hotel is very small, but has great food and is very close to the beach. The beach in this area is very long with a nice surf. The accommodations at hotel are very good, clean and well kept. The food is excellent.

Stayed for four nights in March at the end of a two week fantastic tour around the country birdwatching. Mildred was very friendly and welcoming at reception. The only negatives were the fact that there was nowhere to relax without being burnt as there are no umbrellas or parasols over the sunbeds and no shade anywhere until about 4.00pm.The food was good but the lunch menu was the same as the evening menu. Not everybody wants a big meal at lunchtime.Maybe lighter snacks for lunch? Take a torch, the bathrooms are black tiled, I could not see much at all, ditto retaurant, the lighting is so low I could not see what I was eating. Quiet area, good for birding but not swimming. The cleaner leaves the room doors open for quite a long time hence geckos. mosquitoes etc. in the rooms.

I did NOT stay at the actual hotel but would love to some day - just went to see the sunset with a few local friends - the beach (playa esterillos - playa bejuco) was in front of the hotel.
I just have to say that this beach had the best sunset I have ever seen in my life! I was awestruck and dazzled just standing there in the surf - I felt like I was in some sort of a childhood dream. You can see the entire dome of the sky and it was completely lit up from one end to the other and all around you. You can walk quite away out in the surf and look for shells as well. The beach was lined with tropical foliage and a few buildings - beautiful tropical atmosphere. MUST DO!!
