“Better Than Expected”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2012

We chose to try this hotel because of the location and the value and what a treat. We wanted to have access to Manuel Antonio and Jaco, have a great beach, a pool, a place to rest and recooperate after our adventures and a restaurant on site...here we got it all. We were on the great surfer beach every day, it was just a few steps away. The surfing was great to watch, the swimming was fantastic and it was never crowded. Our room had two queen size beds, a great bathroom and everything was so clean. After our busy days we callapsed into bed and slept like babies. The food was just average (try the Palm salad) but who cares when everything else was fabulous. The staff were wonderful, especially the manager, Carlos....so helpful and kind, we would definitely go back.

A very nice small hotel 100 meters from a deserted beach with very rough surf. There are no services of any kind on the beach. If ocean swimming is for you, pass this hotel by. Nice pool, good restaurant, helpful staff. Family hotel.

We spent 4 nights here in late January culminated by a beautiful sunset wedding hosted by the hotel. Staff was friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was very good. Beach is a 2 minute walk away.

This was our second stop in Costa Rica (after the Arenal Volcano area) and we really enjoyed our 3-night stay at this intimate family-friendly hotel (we were one of the few guests without kids). We liked the design of the rooms and the attention to detail, although the comfort of the bed was not the best. The cleaning staff was very thorough. The layout of the hotel (L-shaped, open layout with all the rooms looking at the pool and the garden) was very nice. The pool was great. The staff were extremely friendly and always willing to help and seemed genuinely concerned about offering you the best service they could. The restaurant was truly excellent and we enjoyed all the dinners we had there. The breakfast was included but wasn't buffet style: you had to pick an option out of 6-7 menu items and you always had a plate of fruit included. My only complaint was that the hot water wasn't really hot: they seem to use solar panels, but they don't seem to truly work on the scale of a 20-room hotel facility. All in all, a great beachfront property (the beach is 150 yards from the hotel): I highly recommend it.

My wife and I spent 12 days in CR in early December 2011, 4 of which where at this location. Situated between Jaco and Quepos/Manuel Antonio, it will provide you with peace and quiet from those two busy areas, especially Jaco, which was a bit too GRINGO"ized" for our taste. Our room was on the 2nd floor and was great. During our stay we did not encounter any bugs and the only geckos we saw where all at the upper level dining area, but those little guys eat the other bugs, so that's a good thing in my book, plus they stay at the top of the walls close to the ceiling. All of the staff where great, from top to bottom, and they will help you with any questions you may have. The food was excellent, we actually made a point of trying different dishes every day and we where not disappointed.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2011

My boyfriend and I spent 11 days in Costa Rica and Hotel Playa Bejuco was the perfect ending to our trip. We did not have hotel arrangements for the last two nights of our trip and originally planned to find a place to stay in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area as we made our way back to San Jose. After we arrived in Quepos/Manuel Antonio, we quickly realized that this was not the place for us. We decided to continue north to find a quieter place to stay. We were so glad that we found Hotel Playa Bejuco.

We traveled to Costa Rica during the rainy season and ended up being the only people staying in the 20 room hotel. The hotel staff made us feel special while we were there. Breakfast was included in the room rate and the food was incredible. Our favorite dish was the crema de mariscos. We really enjoyed spending time with the staff each evening (especially Carlos) while enjoying drinks and dinner in the open air restaurant.

Our room was on the second floor and was way more space than we needed. The main living space had a king size bed, a single bed, TV and refrigerator. The room also had a loft area with two additional single beds. The bathroom was large and adorned with beautiful blue tile. We did encounter a cockroach in the room, but this should always be expected when traveling to a tropical destination. I am always amused by the people who complain about bugs in the rainforest. We get more bugs in Minnesota. Please relax and enjoy your time in Costa Rica.

The hotel was located a short distance from the beautiful beach. We spent several hours fishing the river and the ocean. We felt like we had the entire beach to ourselves. A special thank you to Carlos who offered valuable fishing advice. We can't wait to return to Hotel Playa Bejuco!

Room Tip: Rooms on the second level offer lofts with additional single beds which would be perfect for familie...

When we arrived the electricity was out, but it was soon restored. The staff were very helpful, with a lot of local information. The room was large and well-appointed. The area was quiet, and the local beaches were mostly empty and great for long walks, and watching the sunrises and the sunsets. We saw many scarlet macaws right across from the hotel as well as in the trees along the beach. It’s a low-key area with no annoying vendors trying to sell you anything. The setting was a bit remote but that was exactly what we wanted.
