“Tiger Lagoon - Fragrant Indian Nights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

We stayed for four nights at the tiger lagoon with each day spent in the park searching for tigers and other great wildlife. The tiger lagoon was very convenient for Park entrance...no more than a ten minute ride to the primary gate. The meal quality and various locations were unique and exceptional, and the personalized service and attention throughout our stay was above and beyond. The accommodations were individual cottages that were very comfortable with plenty of room. It met and exceeded all of our expectations!

My boyfriend and I stayed in Tiger Lagoon for 3 nights in April 2013 and we had a wonderful time.

Bizarrely, we were the only two guests at the time of our stay which meant that we had what was essentially a personal catering service! The food was delicious and diverse throughout our stay, kudos to the restaurant staff for keeping us full and happy.

The staff at Tiger Lagoon were also exceptional in helping us organize our safaris in the different zones of the reserve - we had not managed to book safaris for every day of our stay but staff at Tiger Lagoon were incredibly helpful in ensuring we made the most of our time in Bandhavgarh. One afternoon when the reserve was closed we had a fantastic guided bird watching tour of the local area with the Indian Bill Oddie - Bhurisingh. He was incredibly knowledgeable and was a brilliant guide - I was not particularly interested in bird-watching prior to this walk but he still managed to keep me entertained throughout! The walk through the local village was also lovely, it felt like an authentic experience and we enjoyed interacting with a wide range of people.

Although the Tiger Lagoon is a bit of a distance from the reserve, staff were efficient in getting us to and from places. Also, it was nice to be away from the main village/town bit which wasn't particularly interesting or nice and just heavily catered to visitors to the reserve.

The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable, facing a brook from the patio. The big windows gave the room a lot of natural light and the bathroom was also huge! The Jacuzzi outside was also lovely and a post-morning safari break.

In conclusion, I would say the attentive and thoughtful staff really made the place that extra bit special and we had a great stay at Tiger Lagoon. I would especially recommend it to couples and families as it is a beautiful little retreat away from the hubbub around the reserve itself.

Room Tip: The room facing the little brook was lovely. We only really used the Jacuzzi once though, so it...

Rooms need maintenance, pain was chipped, bed was shaky and we had insects in our room. Inspite of informing the staff many times they were not able to remove insects from the room.Food was oily and spicy and we repeatedly complaint about the same and later we ate french fries & toasts.
The hotel is far from the Park and it took us almost 50 miniutes to reach to the gate after crossing bad roads there are so many hotels close to the park, It was tough to travel so far early chilly mornings. Also pls note Hot water is available only for limited time.

Very nice lodge, high standard and super nice staff, you ask for it they make it happen. Book this lodge when you are in tiger area and you will have a wonderful stay, with all the service you need. The lodge is close to a wonderful lake with a lot of birds in it.

We had room 111, overlooking the small creek where the local children played and fished. The room was enormous, with fabulous wooden furniture and a giant bed. One wall was all windows which overlooked our very private terrace, and the creek.

The bathroom was very very large, with a great shower area and a window overlooking the inner private courtyard which housed our clover shaped jacuzzi bath, shaded by an orange tree.

The highlight of this hotel has to be Ghanshyam (the manager) Nothing was too much trouble, his staff clearly enjoyed their work and they functions very well as a team. At night, wildlife films are shown in a separate room, and one afternoon we were taken on a 2 hour walk around the local village, this was one of the highlights of my journey through India. Seeing and interacting with the locals was fantastic.

My wife and I stayed here in December in ROOM 103. I will list down the many positives first:
1. Ghanshyam Singh the manager is one reason why this place is managed so well and looks so great.
2. The staff are extremely well trained and polite
3. The rooms are very large, well-designed and use natural light very well
4. The lagoon around the resort attracts several birds and its nice to just laze in your room's balcony looking at the birds gathered around the water....
5. The Audio Visual room where movies and other documentaries on Bandhavgarh is another very well-thought and sensible feature that you must not miss at all (we saw 2 amazing documentaries here)
6. The food is also very marvellous... we ate, ate and just kept eating.

The NEGATIVES
1. We did not find any heater in the room and assumed that it was not provided no matter how cold it was. We later on realized that had we asked for a heater, the staff would have provided it. We think that such basic amenities in winter should be made available in all rooms without waiting for the guest to ask..
2. Solar water heaters should be installed here rather than what is being done currently....

A tip --- do not forget to request Ghanshyam (the manager) to play some of the amazing documentaries on Bandhavgarh after dinner..

Room Tip: All rooms are great here. See one of our pics that show the layout of each room around the water/ la...

The first impression of tiger lagoon is so impressive you fall in love with the place instantly. The place is so peaceful, you can sitoutdoor for hours together. Each cottage is spacious and beautifully designed. There is a outdoor shower outside every cottage , though we couldn’t use it because it was cold , it must be fun in summer.
You can hear the birds chirping throughout the day .
The service was pleasant and staff are extremely helpful. We were a group of 24, they looked after us so well .
Most important thing is make sure you have booking for jeep safari , well in advance.
The staff are genuinely nice and friendly. Over all the stay at this place enhanced our total holiday experience
