After visiting the winery Schloss Wackerbarth (a "must visit", tram line 4 from Dresden and exit at Schloss Wackerbarth, trying to get Tripadvisor to list it, ) we took back the tram line 4 direction Dresden using our one day tram pass (only 8 euro) and got out at the Zillerstr. stop to walk up to the Spitzhaus. Wow! You need to be in good shape to climb up the hill (see photo) but it is a wonderful climb with on your left side the vineyards. They plant the vines up steep hills creating great wines. If you are not in good shape, take a taxi up to Spitzhaus and walk down the stairs to the main road (Meissen Strasse).
Anyway, we were late to make reservations at the Spitzhaus and we got a lousy table, so we opted to go outside to the terrace. They have "self service" there with a very limited menu dominated by sea food. We just got some wine and beer, enjoyed the absolutely gorgeous views and selected Gasthaus Oberschaenke as the place to go have dinner in Radebeul - what a lucky hit! See my review of that restaurant.
