Quaint 200 year old Haveli. The food is awesome, and the staff is of service with a smile.
The rates are okay....The upkeep of the property is satisfactory.
The staff go out of the way to make you feel at home, and most of your requests are met.
The hotel is safe and is recommended for family outings.

weekend Gateway

We planned a family weekend gateway from Delhi to Sariska and taking a night halt in Burja Haveli. Initially with the review on Tripadvisor, I was real confused whether the hotel is good or bad. So, we called up the hotel to convey them our worry, clearly stated that reviews are of mix stature and with 5 kids we cant take chances. Manager reassured us for the services and gave us the confirmation on the quality aspect. Finally, after my stay there I can really say that this was one of the best experience I had in long time in ters of service standard. We had issue with rooms initially but they offered plenty of option to change - understandable with 200 + year old property. They organized a bonn fire, cook took care of food keeping kids in mind , amazing starter ( Lal mans is a must try there, best as per the family members in my group who likes no veg) and great service by staff member particularly Jagdish. We had a great family time there and next day we moved to Sariska with good mood due to a great stay in Burja. I recommend, traveller should do the booking well in advance and inform the preferences for them to arrange things as the hotel is of decent size and cant operate like a regular hotel.

We arrived in this hotel by bus from Jaipur, the hotel is 7/8KM away from the centre and does not appear to have a large number of Western visitors, we managed to get a tuk tuk with the help of the local garage owner who spoke English, I would suggest you pre-book a pick up if staying at this hotel.
Our plan was to stay in Alwar and do a day trip to Agra, but this is not really an option as the drive is 4/5 hours each way. However our day sightseeing in Alwar was a pleasant surprise (although with the lack of foreign visitors we were of great interest to the locals!)
Hotel is set back from main road, the grounds are very pleasant and well kept the hotel itself has a large amount of original decor and features.
Food was excellent although service was lacking a smile at times.
Staff were very helpful with our early morning checkout time (2am to catch a train) as deep down they must hated us!
Room was very spacious, good shower and very clean only negative of room was no heater available but I guess we were staying during a time of record low temperatures accross India.

1st time ever stayed at a haveli. Low on cost & amazingly well kept rooms with bathtubs - geysers - ac.
Clean linen & quilts were supplied, amazing food (loved their Bhuna Mutton & Laal Maas) and didnt dent pockets even though we were a pack of 6 people.
Loved how they had decorated their rooms with old Rajasthani paintings on the inner terrace & the bonfire was an icing on the cake on terrace.
Very courteous staff & a very good value for money, not far from Bhangarh or Sariska so location is a ++.

Highly recommended for a quick trip.

Room Tip: Ask for Super Deluxe rooms on terrace as they give you a view of mountains, clear sky and a seperate...

1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

In the weekend of mid-Feb we planned our trip to Ranthambore from Gurgaon with a stop over at Burja Haveli Hotel on the way for one night.

The hotel is located on the outskirts of Alwar and the highway. Probably should have been our first sign. Entry is through a very badly kept garden area which then ends onto a narrow village road which you cut across to reach the hotel.

Its a traditional very old Haveli (heritage house) converted into a hotel which is lacking upkeep and is not in good shape with time.

We were the only family staying that night and they gave us the best suite as they called in the hotel however so badly lighted that we jumped out of it the very moment. So they re-located us on the ground floor where the suite was not in any good shape.

The bathroom was in a mess where the toilet needed special cleaning by the staff to bring to usable level.

The room was full of dust all over and seemed house keeping is not the concept here. There is just haveli helping staff which takes care of the hotel which is more of a big house of the haveli owner which takes care of the hotel as well (Not a good idea).

The towels & the blanket given by them felt not comfortable to us for using. After requesting 10 times from afternoon they managed to give us the room heater late in night. (Probably we felt electricity consideration was a worry for them !)

With so much of mis-fortune with the room we ordered very safe food just Yellow Dal, Roti, Salad and some vegetables. The food was OK with the dal being really well made however here the scope of messing was quite less.

We got a chance to look inside there kitchen and utensil washing area which later we felt would have been good if we would have not seen.

Probably the low number of reviews helps this hotel show up as 3 best in the hotel list of Alwar and that was our fall point for going for this. But surprised by the kind of reviews that are written.

The staff was helpful. However I would sincerely advice the staff of this hotel if they read this review to improve the infrastructure and upkeep of rooms before they can expect good business.

I would not advice anyone who is looking for a comfortable stay on their vacation journey for this hotel.

Room Tip: Seen two rooms one on first floor and another on ground floor 101 which is the one we stayed. better...
