“Rajasthan's only hill station”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

We took a road trip to Mount Abu from Mumbai, breaking our journey at Gandhinagar for the night. Mount Abu was bitterly cold....just 2C, but we were well equipped so actually enjoyed the northern winter. The place has become very commercial now, with loads of hotels having sprung up around the vicinity of the Nakki lake, but there is accommodation to suit every pocket and loads of nice eateries.

Apart from the Dilwara temples which is an absolute Must See, do visit the Sunset Point to feast on the gorgeous view of the valley below.

Opposite the Nakki Lake is a small garden where the main attraction is a helium balloon ride for about 10 minutes. A complete rip off, but would still recommend it especially at sunset to watch Mt Abu light up and the reflections in the Nakki Lake.

“Mount Abu, Worth Visiting Once”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Mount Abu is the only hillstation in rajasthan and gujarat sector if iam not wrong. Therefore for people who otherwise dont get a chance to visit this hill station it would serve the purpose. The drive uphill was short and sweet. The places we visited were Dilwara temples which were amazing and beautiful. One will surely fall in love with the intricate carvings on the walls and ceilings.Guru Shikhar which is the highest point is a holy place for hindus to visit. One gets a birds eye view of all the places from here.Few jain temples are worth visiting.A evening stroll near the market place to the nakki lake is enjoyable and surely one should take a boat ride in the evening. It may not be comparable to ooty lake or kodai lake. The brahmakumaris ashram and garden is also a place to visit. A two days trip would suffice to visit all the places. In all we logged one more tourist location. If u have ur own vehicle it is well and good. Or else one has to come to Abu road by rail and then take a taxi for Mt Abu.

“Mt. Abu trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

We visited Mt Abu just to see the Dilwara temples. We reached Mt Abu from Udaipur in a cab around 6pm in the evening. Plan was to stay in Mt Abu that night and our train to Delhi was at 8.40pm the next day from Abu Road railway station. Just a word of caution to travellers, our cab driver warned that a 50km stretch till Pindwara on the highway to Mt Abu from Udaipur is very prone to dacoits after sundown. And indeed that stretch is through rocky wilderness and not a single establishment in sight. Not sure how true this is, but may be best to avoid an evening journey back.
The Dilwara temples is a must see and the carvings are out of this world. Apart from the Gurushikhar and Dilwara there isn't much to see although we didnot go to Gurushikhar. The hill station is little sleepy town, atleast in Jan which is supposed to be a offseason. Not much scope of shopping so make sure that you pick up your souvenirs from Udaipur.
Bikes are available on hire, near the Lake.
Do visit the cafe Shikibo, its a nice hangout place.
