“Good hotel but a few things need improving...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

Hotel is generally very nice and a short walk to lovely village of Koutouloufari which has plenty of shops and restaurants to dine at. Our room was a standard suite and it was basic but sufficient with lovely views of the sea. Tea and coffee in the rooms like most decent hotels would have been nice however. Breakfasts were average as the same repetitive food each morning...bread with cheese and ham, followed by an egg and then greek yoghurt. No options for cereal or pastries, etc which the hotel needs to improve on as I couldnt stay another week eating that. Their weekly BBQ is very good and food is excellent on that front so would highly recommend which is 20 euros each. Note that if you are after a beach holiday you will need to hire a car as there are no good beaches within close proximity to hotel by foot. Also, note that the towels on sunbeds game is played at this hotel and the owners dont do anything about it so you may need to get up early to get a bed if the hotel is at full capacity. Overall nice hotel but it does not give me any desire to return again.

Just returned from a lovely relaxing week at the Creta Blue Suites.
We stayed on a 1/2 board basis which included the continental breakfast as described in the previous reviews and the "menu special" for an evening meal. I know some reviewers have commented on the lack of choice and variation at the start of the day but I think George and his team have probably got it just about right for most of their guests. The evening meals were delicious but I recon if you were staying for a couple of weeks you may see a few repetitions and might want to look for a change.
There are some fantastic little restaurants in the village - 10 mins walk down the hill (15 mins back up) if you are on b&b only or if you want to stretch your legs at lunchtime.
Also in the village there are a couple of mini markets and souvenir shops for your holiday essentials.
Meanwhile back at the Creta Blue - the rooms are indeed as described in previous reviews - bright, spacious, clean, well-appointed, well-located (ask for a room closer to the reception area if you don't fancy the steep walk up to the top suites after a couple of evening cocktails) and the shower arrangement can be a challenge at times.
(BTW - if you're not used to the quaint Greek custom of not flushing your toilet paper down the pan but placing it in the adjacent waste bin you might wish to practice your technique prior to your stay.)
The bar / restaurant area is well laid out and stocked with all the usual stuff - the prices are a bit higher than downtown but not too bad. Note - if you're a non-smoker there's no such thing as a non-smoking table and it's likely you'll have to put up with someone smoking at a table next to you from time to time - it's still quite a popular activity.
The pool area has plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas and the pool itself, although not really suitable as a lap pool, is clean, refreshing and wonderfully positioned to make the best of the cracking views down to the coast.
As pointed out in most of the other reviews the thing that really makes this place special is the staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful and nothing seems to be too much trouble. Just ask.
The Creta Blue seems to be a place both to stay for a break or to use as a base to explore.

We have just returned from Creta Blue and once again had the most wonderful time. George, his family and staff where brilliant and attentive.
We stayed in room 101 which was beautifully decorated. The food which is prepared in their kitchen is wonderful and well worth staying in the hotel for.
Thanks to everyone at Creta Blue for making our holiday relaxing and so special.

We have just returned from Creta Blue and we have had a fantastic trip and George and Vangelis and family were just as inviting, caring and fun as they were last year. we had the same room no 313 and it was as good as it was last year. We were welcomed back as long lost friends and they remembered our drinks a Metaxas and wine at the end of the night shows a rare care from a hard working team.
We visited Agios Nicholias for a day and it was well worth the time and effort to go visit the lake and port the port has great Ice creams from Twins bar.
Loved the yoghurt, fresh fruit and Greek honey for breakfast a simple meal but loved it.
We hope to return again.

Room Tip: Don't go half board as there are too many restaurants to enjoy and of course Creta Blue itself...

My wife & I are Just back home from a fantastic week at the Creta Blue suites & can only confirm the positive reviews of others on here.,Our 7 nights half board stay was booked through Secret Escapes & we can honestly say it lived up to all expectations.
The location, high up on the hillside with fantastic views of the sea below can't help but seduce all the guests into chilling out & enjoying the experience
Our Executive suite was large, comfortable & well furnished... more than adequate for our holiday needs ,A few reviews have nitpicked about the breakfasts, but i bet the choice of bread with marmalade & jam, ham, cheese, eggs & the delicious yoghurt & fruit washed down with unlimited Orange juice & Coffee is more than enough for most.
The evening dinners were varied & delicious, skillfully prepared by Helena & a big "thumbs up" to George for the way he runs the business in a friendly but professional way.Last but not least a special mention should go out to Lavinia & Costas .............long hours spent serving at the bar but always happy & smiling

Very good location on hillside overlooking the coast and a short 5 min walk to a lovely village. We had a Suite with our own courtyard both of which were spotless. Bar area had a nice ambiance and the infinity pool side had more than enough loungers. Plenty of parking. We ate in the hotel a few times and the food was excellent. The best meal we had in the week was in the hotel and we would highly recommend dining there. The village itself was very pleasant to wander into and every place we tried had good, reasonably priced food. All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and could not do enough for us. As per other reviews, George really is a very nice bloke. First time on Crete for us and throughout the Island we found everyone so friendly. Excellent Weather, plenty to do on the Island and everything reasonably priced. The Hotel was good value and we will return. Thanks for a great holiday to George and co....

I can reiterate most of what has been written in previous reviews.
George and his staff were wonderful, the rooms beautifully decorated and furnished and the atmosphere very relaxing.
I went with my 2 daughters and we hired a car through George, cheaper than doing so in the village and so much easier.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, the only negative comments could be about the shower and breakfast,as other reviews have already mentioned.
Our week was on a b and b basis and, although we had some ok meals in the village and great seafood by the beach, once we tasted Helen's cooking didn't want to go further afield.Truly delicious.
