I found these apartments by searching trip advisor & took the risk of booking a couple of weeks.
I was a bit worried before we left because the price was very reasonable. No need, it was a lovely place.
There are a couple of reasons why I've given the score 4/5 - rather than 5/5, but I'll come to the negatives shortly.
The maisonette flats are superb. They are so large. We had a pool facing apartment, so the living room was there as you entered the door, down 4 or 5 steps to the well equiped kitchen & small showerroom & then up som stairs to the bedroom above the kitchen. Kitchen had kettle, microwave, fridge, coffee filter machine - so better equiped than most. Upstairs - a hair dryer. very nice touches. Aircondition & safe were optional extras, which we didn't go for.
The whole place was very clean (except see negative comments) - with some lovely flowers around the apartments. There's a small swimming pool, where you can put sunbeds out during the day. The bar food is simple but adequate. everything that you can really hope for in a holiday. The lady who did the cleaning came in every 2nd day to change towels & bed sheets - such a treat to have clean sheets when you've been out in the sun.
There are a few reasons that spoil the whole effect of the apartments and stop it being just the perfect spot/holiday:
> constant music. it wasn't loud and actually very relaxing jazz, but when you're out by the pool relaxing and no one else is about - the piped music is on throughout the day. This is a personal viewpoint - & I'm sure a lot of people actually like it.
> bbq drink bill. after their weekly bbq, I was charged on a per wine glass basis - rather than "6 glasses = 1 bottle - so charge you for a bottle" so was charged more.
> cleanliness of the toilet in apartment. I've mentioned before that the whole place was immaculate, well one spot is missed, and that is under the rim of the toilet. I managed to spot this and really did turn my stomach - it didn't look as if it had seen a spot of bleach is a few months. It really surprised me because the rest of the place you could eat your dinner off the floor.
Koutouloufari is actually quite a large place - with several lovely bars & about 20 - 25 tavernas. We sampled a few and had some really special meals, all at very reasonable prices.
