“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

Once again a fantastic holiday, the welcome you receive at this hotel is second to none and nothing is too much trouble for the owners and staff who all go out of the way to make your holiday.
The hotel is always spotlessly clean in a spectacular setting with views over the sea or mountains
The owners are a very special family and nothing is too much trouble for them, which is why so many people return year after year, ourselves included.

We have been here too many times to remember... Lovely, kind and happy people. The word genuine springs to mind and in this day and age that is very rare . A gem of a place and precious people. We always meet familiar faces I am sure we will continue meeting again and again. xxxxx

This is the first holiday I simply didn't want to come home from and not least because of Iannis and Maryann and their wonderful staff. The hotel is simple, relaxing and beautiful, with rooms that are comfortable and so clean! Spectacular views of the sea from rooms' balconies on one side and lovely views of the hotel gardens on the other. My partner and I had initially walked from Sami town to the hotel with our luggage and we were greeted warmly by Iannis, who immediately provided Ouzo and ice to cool us down. We found our suitcases were taken to our room before we even checked in, so all we had to do was unpack and relax.

Our stay from start to finish was a joy and returning to the hotel after a trip out to the caves, the acropolis, the town etc., or from a local restaurant we were always greeted warmly. Breakfast was a feast (the yoghurt and honey is to die for!), surrounded by "Good morning," "kalemira, kalimera," and "smile - you're on holiday!" This, and Iliana's sweet, "coffee . . . coffee?" whenever our cups were empty, always set the day on a very happy note.

If you ever decide to stay in Sami . . . stay at the Sami Beach Hotel.

Room Tip: If you're a walker, the hotel is absolutely perfect, otherwise hire a car / quad-bike / motor sc...

This is our 12th time back over the past 20 years. If you want a relaxing, carefree, friendly hotel then this is for you. The family and staff genuinely remember all their returnees and make everyone feel so special. The views from the sea facing balconies are spectacular but so are the views overlooking the garden and tennis court (quiet time between 3-5). The rooms are spotlessly clean and the bed linen the crispest and whitest you will find. There is a great outdoor bar with refreshments brought to you around the pool and its a place where we congregate before we go out to dinner and then when we come back. The bar closes at midnight which ensures peace and quiet for those that want it with Sami town (10 minute walk along the beach) providing great bars into the early morning.

I had read reviews discussing the amazing staff at this hotel. When we arrived, we understood what everyone was talking about. We really felt like we were staying with relatives; all the staff were so friendly and helpful and always had smiles on their faces. We met some other guests that have been coming for over 20 years and could see why they returned. We stayed 6 nights at the hotel and with Iannis' help, we were able to plan our holiday and see all the major sights that Kefalonia has to offer. We had hired a car from mainland Greece, so this enabled us to travel at our own pace and stay as long as we wanted if we liked a particular spot. The facilities at the hotel were very good. Fantastic view of the pool and the beach in the background was available from our room. The rooms are fine, nothing flash, but we really weren't in them for very long! Breakfast didn't really vary from day to day, but there was enough choice to make everyone happy. Not much hot food. The yogurt and honey was beautiful! It is a lovely 10 minute walk to town, which we did most nights and always had an enjoyable meal. We returned several times to Gorgona (Mermaid), the food was beautiful traditional Greek. I am so glad we stayed st Sami Beach, it was the most pleasant hotel experience we had during our trip to Greece. We felt quite emotional at the end when saying our goodbyes; it was like we were leaving family behind!

From the moment we arrived at Sami Beach Hotel we knew we were staying somewhere special. Iannis and Maryann and the rest of the family and staff who run the hotel gave us such a warm welcome, were very informative about local sights and attractions and couldn't have been more helpful in organising transfers and car hire. The hotel's location is in the village of Karavmilos which has three very nice restaurants, and is only a 10 minute walk along the beachfront to the main town of Sami where there are many more. The hotel's facilities were excellent with a decent swimming pool, tennis court and table tennis, a bar and lots of things you can borrow to take to the beach and there is a huge buffet breakfast availabIe every morning. I can totally understand why people come back here year after year.

Room Tip: It is probably worth paying a little more to have a room with a balcony overlooking the pool and bea...

By far the people who own and operate this hotel are the friendliest, warmest and most hospitable I have ever come across. I enjoyed my time in this hotel and spending time with its staff and owners as they made me feel like a family member. I will definitely be coming back to stay here next time I visit Kefalonia and I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for accommodation on this island.
