This popular beach has a nice change/ bathroom area, great adventure playground and lots of free parking. It is a very shallow beach and you can walk for about 1/2 km and still not get to water deep enough for swimming if you go at low tide. The best time is within an hour before or after high tide when the water has come up over the hot sand. Swim shoes are a good idea as there are rocks and seaweed at times but the beach is a coarse sand and great for kids.
There are big trees for shade and a large open mowed field for pick up baseball or soccer games. On a clear day you get a wonderful view of Mt. Baker.
