“Not too bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

As stated by others this resort has seen better times, however here are the positives - Swimming pool rooms are very good, the bathrooms are awesome, with big bath & hot water. The rooms do have safes. The staff while not as switched on as a normal 5 star place are all very lovely and accomodating. The food was actually surprisingly good, including when I ordered fresh scalops not on the menu & the staff and chef went and sourced them and cooked them to perfection. The pool is good for a relax with a sea view. The massage girl Rohna was good too. This is a good getaway type place at the other end of Sorsogon. It is clearly the best resort at this end of the city & well worth the weekend to just relax, drink & eat. The rooms are a bit overpriced, but the food was very well priced and made up for that. I would actually stay here again if I wanted to just get away and not do much

Room Tip: Go the swimming pool view

This small resort has seen better times, yet it has some very wonderful and special attributes and..
The highs:
Very special setting on the water facing Batan Island, and Rapu-rapu. The seascape pool and awsome views coupeld with the uniqueness of the rooms/bathrooms makes it a special place. The pool is great and the rooms facing the pool are a true delight. Rona and Nicole were truly responsive to our needs and aimed to please.

The lows:
We phoned/texted in advance to be picked up in Sorsogon. The text reply said that wouldn't be possible since their vehicle was broken. When we arrived, the reception was quite neutral. After a bit, we were shown our room. I think it was the bamboo room...very large with huge bed and bath. Really quite unique with lot's of electrical switches controlling lights and fans. After exploring the room a bit, we found the doors to the lanai would not close and the tiny TV unworkable and the room suffered from differed maintenence.. We phoned down and the TV was quickly replaced and welcome drinks provided. That night we found that the AC couldn't keep the room cool, probably beacause the warm air blowing through the open door. We also found there was no hot water and the chairs on the lanai quite uncomfortable. So the next morning we asked to be moved to another room and our request was quickly agreed to.
Our new room by the pool was great. Only problem the lanai door would not close all the way, yet the A/C was able to keep the room cool...just loved the room and the lanai. They didn't have room safes.
There are no eating or shopping establishments nearby so all meals were taken at the hotel. Limited menu and the food was satisfactory but not remarkable. One night I ordered pork loin and got a skinny chicken leg. The wine was excessively expensive...$30 plus for table wine...
The atmoshere, unlike most all smaller resorts I have been, was not happy.
I guess the biggest downer of our stay was the fact that 6,000 pesos and $300 were stolen from our room......even though we were rarely far away from it. Lesson learned.
We departed on a tryke, still no vehicle available, sadly disppointed.

My family and I rarely take vacations so I wanted to go somewhere different and away from the summer crowds. Found the privacy at sirangan resort. Miss Susie and mr. Matt as well as the rest of the staff were great and very accommodating. And the food was good! Unfortunately the rooms have seen better days. It must have been so beautiful years back but now it's a bit old. And access to the beach is unsafe so we weren't able to swim. But overall we enjoyed our stay and my daughter loved all the pets there. And did I mention the food? :)

P.S. there were improvements going on at the resort during our stay. I really hope it turns out well coz we would love to return :)

Thank you miss Susie and mr. Matt :)

This is where me and my love had our first trip. we thought that the "whale sharks are just outside the resorts, because of the website, but then when we got there, the whale sharks are 4 hours drive! hahahaha! tide is always high and boring. but Thanks to the wonderful staffs that help us and keep our stay enjoyable... this resort is no good without them.

Room Tip: Always, do a big research first. :D

We chose this hotel as our base in Sorsogon on our long sightseeing trip from Manila all the way to Tacloban (Leyte). The Sirangan was the most special hotel on the entire two-week trip and I can highly recommend it despite its many problems! I will certainly go there again. But this place needs a more detailed review.
A dream location, directly at the water (so don't go there during typhoon season!), you can sit all day at the terrace and look at the sea and enjoy the cool breeze. The design the lobby area, the bar, the rooms is very special, using wood and materials but lamps and other design elements which are clearly imported. The problem is that the owner obviously has stopped a few years ago to invest ANYTHING in maintenance and therefore many things would need to be fixed - light bulbs are missing, switches don't work, balcony doors you can hardly open, aircons with missing remote controls, .... So if you are not relaxed enough to accept this with a smile on you face, don't go there!
All the staff is extremely nice, friendly and helpful and make you feel part of the family. And of course Suzie, the manager and chef. This hotel would be nothing without her. She manages not only the hotel, does the shopping at the market but also ensures that there is excellent food on the table for every lunch and dinner. You just need to tell her a day in advance what you like to eat and she will prepare it for you. Be it a big grilled fish, a chicken curry or Bicol Express or simply a pasta. One evening we asked her whether she could arrange a Lechon for us - and she did! (see the photos). What a feast!
On the evening of my son's 25th birthday she arranged a surprise show, one of her male waiters playing a female fire dancer and another one a magician who showed nice tricks (photos). Finally, if you like your glass of wine in the evening you need to bring it with you and pay a little nothing as corkage. We brought enough wine for our group and had a jolly good time!

Room Tip: choose the swimming pool rooms or, cheaper, the rooms at the 2nd floor and not the 3rd floor.

This was how my husband described our experience in Sorsogon, which I believe everyone in our group of 14 agree. The hotel has big rooms with king-sized bed and day bed, big bathroom with jacuzzi, and balcony facing the sea to relax after sightseeing in Sorsogon. Kudos to the staff who gave us tips on what to do during our 4-day stay. The hotel staff also provided us with clean towels to bring to Donsol when we went swimming with the whale sharks. The room was cleaned daily with clean towels and toiletries. Although, I must say that they should fix the bathroom door.

Yes, time could have been better had you stayed with us. Your initial assessment is truly welcome. Our website is accurate. Three typhoons had just passed, with minimal damage and the beach is being restored back to what is was before-
