“Best holiday resort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014

Stayed in Kumarakom Lake Resort for three nights . It is best location and best property. Rooms were good from inside but no view of lake disappoints after paying huge amount. Food Menu was having lot of options. Staff was very friendly. The boat cruise was excellent.

The cost seems high for this kind of property.

Room Tip: Only Lake view villas are having good view of lake other rooms are not having good view.

One of the best resorts in Kerala in terms of location and architecture. This impeccably designed and flawlessly maintained property, overlooking Kerala's picturesque backwaters, impresses you in the very first look. Every corner of the property is worthy of a place in your camera's memory card. We spent one night here and were completely engrossed in the beauty of this place.

For us, the highlight of this place was the concept and design of meandering pool villas. We stayed in one of those and loved the interiors as well. Everything was subtle and tastefully done. The open air bathroom adds to the uniqueness of the villas.

With very professional service, the staff takes good care of you. Complimentary sunset cruise, preceded by evening tea & snacks, adds to the charm of this place. Other activities which you can do here include fishing, pottery, sewing and a walk to nearby village.

But, mind you all the above features come at a premium pricing. We took the plunge and having spent the money, we never regretted as this place does feel like and makes you feel like extraordinary.

Room Tip: We stayed in meandering pool villa and it was very good.

Stayed for two nights in villa 150 - presidential suite after houseboat trip from Allepey. Stunning place, lots of space and green. Nice main pool with secluded area for snack and drinks looking over the lake. The villa its self is fabulous, situated to the left of the complex, nice and secluded. Private front courtyard, reception area with TV and french doors out to private pool area. Two outdoor bathrooms, one ensuite - both open air. Large bedroom, TV, satellite, very comfortable. Aircon. Lovely service throughout. Fish restaurant was ok, no fresh catch during outstay so just stock dishes, much preferred the buffet amazing selection. Obviously your not in india in india, but made a great relaxing end to our trip down south. Very small hamlet of Kumarakom, worth a walk, some shops and a couple of cheap places to eat if you fancy a wander. Highly highly recommended if budget allows and your looking for a resort (there are many!)

Room Tip: Cant go wrong with 150, more secluded than 151

We and two friends stayed on one of the resorts rice boats for 3 days and 2 nights. Our arrival at the hotel was managed excellently and it was with some regret that we left it's luxurious confines and stepped onto our rice boat. But, the boat was fabulous, with 2 wonderful staff and a chef who provided superlative meals. We spend Christmas gliding gently round the waterways, watching life go by and relaxing into a deep state of peace and well being. We cannot recommend the experience highly enough. But, the true quality of a hotel is tested when things go wrong. In this regard the Lake Resort demonstrated it's service went above and beyond good, it was outstanding. It wasn't until I unpacked at the next hotel in Kovalum (4-5 hours away by car) that I realised I had left my contact lenses behind. Disaster, we were in India for a wedding to be held in Bangalore a few days later. This was a traumatic discovery as I very rarely wear glasses, hate them when I do, as I can't see a thing with them. I rang the Lake Resort immediately and found they had been handed in and without hesitation the best option for getting them to me was discussed and put in process. They arrived in Bangalore three days later by fast post and without charge. They arrived very securely packaged. having been tightly sewn into a cloth cover. What a relief and very much appreciated. If we find ourselves in Kerala again or are advising anyone who is going we would recommend the Lake Resort and their wonderful rice boats without hesitation. It truly was heaven.

Its good enough for Prince Charles & Lady Camilla and its good enough for me. In the middle of nowhere facing sweetwater lake Vembanad this resort has it all. Except maybe enough sun beds by the pool but that's a minor inconvenience.

Two real restaurants (multicultural buffet and seafood) and one luncheon by the pool. Fantastic spa treatments and lots of freebies like magician, palmist, henna painting and more for big and small kids. Take a boat trip by day or have a romantic floating dinner on the lake. Unfortunately absolutely nothing to see outside the resort.

Fly in to Cochin/Kochi and have a car from the resort to pick you up and youre all set.

Room Tip: Pavillion rooms are good but have cold water jacuzzis, who wants that? Meandering pool villas is per...

if you want to experience how it is to be treated as royal, you will deffinately get the chance at Kumarakom lake resort!
After a hectic, and by far great ecperience arround Kerala, we finally ended up at Kumarakom, and what a blessing to come there! We felt so good "taken care of" by the entire staff there, and the service was just excellent. The place is beautyful and a quiet getaway from the "outside World"
We were Lucky to get a pool villa, and even the last one in the row, so on one side, we had the beatiful lake view, and just straight infront of us, the lovely pool. what a sunset view from there. The bathrooms were really cool with their open-roof-style, and palm trees inside. The room was cozy and lovely furnished, and had every fascility you need.
would have loved to spend more time there!
overall a wonderfull stay for us, and we will deffinately reccomend any who gets the chance, to go and experience and enjoy a piece of heaven.

Located in a very nice place. As a Honey moon couple we enjoyed the stay. Rooms were very clean and the view was refreshing. Food was yummy. Special Karimeen from the Chef Arul was the highlight. Staff took special care to make you comfortable and their friendly approach make you feel like home. Mr.Venky and team (Shankar / Arul / Manju) helped us to enjoy our stay and made us fully delighted.
I will recommend especially to Tamil people who will definitely appreciate the special cuisine.
