“Pure relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Stayed at the Lakesong between 29th Jan - 5th Feb 2013. Prior to this had been travelling around Northern India. Found the Lakesong to be the perfect place to unwind and relax after our hectic travels. The location of the resort is beautiful, right on the lake. The grounds are kept in perfect condition and are home to various plants and wildlife. Our room was good, very clean and comfortable. The food was tasty, especially when the a la carte menu was served instead of the buffet in the evenings. We stayed on a half board basis so found this a nice touch. All of the staff are very helpful and professional, especially those in reception and in the restaurant. A free sunset cruise was included in our stay which was enjoyable.
I found the resort to be one of the most relaxing places I have ever stayed, it really is the perfect getaway. The days we spent in resort were lovely and quiet and we pretty much had the pool to ourselves.
I would definately stay at the Lakesong again if I went back to Kerala, and would recommend to friends and family.

Had been there in dec 2012 for honeymoon and after munnar the second place we enjoyed the most in our kerala trip. Our standard room was upgraded to the deluxe category so we were thrilled with the free extra comfort provided to us. Kumarakom as a place is lovely if u choose any lake resort like this one. The resort is very big and spacious. Plenty of greenery and flowers planted which just adds to the beauty. You can sit for hours in the garden/restuarant enjoying the lake view from there. Options to click plenty of pics all around the place.
Another best thing is the free sunset cruise which the resort offers. To add to our luck again we got a boat just for ourselves as the other tourists had left in other boats earlier.
The food quality is excellent with lot of variety in the buffet. Infact one is spoilt for choices. We also experienced the ayurvedic massage which was worth every penny.

The staff is very helpful and courteous. Thanks for making our honeymoon special

The main memory of this hotel for me is the beautiful view from the gardens. Looking out over the lake, with houseboats serenely sailing by. The sunsets were beautful, especially from one of the hammocks over-looking the lake.
Rooms were fine, and the food of a good quality and plenty of it if ordering the buffett. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The bird sanctuary nearby was enjoyable, with cuckoos, kingfishers, herons and eagles amongst many others spotted. One tip would be to get there early (It opens at 6.30am) as in the heat of the day the birds take cover. Also hire a guide as these only cost 200 rupees and are very informative and spotted nearly all the birds for us. A tuk tuk costs 100 rupees from outside the hotel gate and adds a little bit of magic to the trip. If you like an authentic experience, I would highly recommend a community cafe just outside (to the right of gate) of bird sanctuary for a spot of lunch. Only visited by the locals, but we were welcomed with open arms and locals were helping us order. (there is only one meal available, with Kerela rice and 5 mini curries served on a stainless steel plate together with a popadom. This was 50 rupees which is roughly 60p. What an experience!!

The first stop in our trip to Kerala, Ooty and Mysore met our expectations, but stopped just short of exceeding them. The complex is spectacular, and has a wondeful setting on Lake Vembanad. The reception area was picturesque, and the setting for the restaurant in front of the lake was awesome. They also had a good games room, a gymnasium and treatment rooms (the last of which we did not try out).

Our room had a lovely view across the gardens and onto the lake. The room itself was comfortable and pleasant, but I would not say spacious. It was clean and everything worked!

We were greeted with fresh coconuts to drink, and the service was generally of a high standard from thereon. We had ice brought to our room, plenty of supplies that were refreshed on demand, and typically nothing was a miss. Other highlights included an excellent complimentary sunset cruise on the lake, lovely gardens with a great variety of trees, shrubs and flowers that attracted a host of different birds, butterflies, dragonflies, etc. And live music at dinner was good.

Some small negatives for us. Firstly, the wifi was a good price but only available in the reception area so you paid for a full day but used it only intermittently. Skyping our family in the UK was therefore not ideal. Secondly, the restaurant did not quite live up to expectation. The food choice (we are vegetarian) was good, but not outstanding, and it got repetitive even over three nights. They need more international food and some less spicy options. Service was sometimes also lackong. By Indian standards it was also not great value. (around £8 a head for a buffet dinner).

My final comment is about the mandatory Gala dinner for Christmas Eve. At three times the cost of their normal buffet, it was pricey, setting me back £80 for four of us!. I was also not happy that they had it outdoors in the evening with mosiquitos and bugs flying around. That said, they had an excellent range of vegetarian options, and desserts included eggless cakes. The entertainment was a western/rock group who were brilliant, the lead singer (Burton) had a fabulous voice, and they strutted out everything from christmas numbers to Queen and Stevie Wonder with great aplomb! The finale was a fireworks display that rounded of the evening nicely.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Lakesong and would recommend it to anyone.

Location and property are great. But the food was just bad. All that is served hot such as fries, idly, vada, appam are all stale. If you are expecting authentic Kerala dishes, you are in for a big disappointment. All food items are pretty tasteless.
Staff was OK but overall the place is quite focused on extra charges and does not make the stay pleasent. Overall not at all worth the price paid.

This was a lovely hotel, and we were happy to hang out here sitting on the terrace, watching kingfishers, geese and other birds flit around the wonderful gardens. The pool was pristine, and we had it to ourselves each time we swam. The staff and manager were very attentive, and the rooms were lovely. We went out on the complimentary 5pm sunset cruise and were sorry to have had only one night here. The hotel is right on the Lake, so the houseboats call here to pick you up.

Room Tip: upgrade to the superior room so that you have a balcony to sit watching life go by in the gardents a...

I stayed in Lakesong resort from 18th-21st December 2012 and It was one of the best stay that i have had so far. The resort is very beautiful, very clean, two swimming pools, kids corner, canal etc. It is so picture perfect that you can sit on the easy chairs and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

The staff is very good, always ready to help. I was really impressed by Mr. Boney. He was very helpful throughout our stay right from booking.

We dined in the hostel restaurants and the food was really good. The breakfast buffet had lots of variety and very tasty food.

We also did fishing in the canal which is made into the resort and it was a fun activity. We infact catch some fish. they also provide a conoe which you can take through the canal and it was a fun experience.

the location is very good, it is on the banks of the lake. It was a really pleasing experience to sit on the banks of the lake and enjoy the sunset.

Room Tip: We stayed on the Asthmudi rooms and got it on first floor of the two story building. Later, we were...
