In fact we went to the Auberge in 2008 when Julia Stagg and Mark were the owners. Huge amount of work done and a nicer couple I've yet to meet. Both spoke French which endeared thgem to the locals.
We were there to support grandson ,cyclist with Maitre Jacques, in Tour of Pyrenees.
, The book just published, 'L'Auberge' by Julia Stagg clearly draws on her experiences
We wish the new owners much success.

Very peaceful, ideal for those who want a quiet break. Plenty of walks, fishing and cycling.

We booked to stay here just one night en route to Spain because we wanted to watch the Tour de France stage which was passing close by.
The room was lovely and the evening meal superb.
After watching the Tour de France we could not continue our journey because the roads were closed until late that night. We phoned Moira at the Auberge de l'Arac and she had a room available, so we drove back across the mountain and arrived at around 9pm. Mike still cooked us a delicious meal and they both made us very welcome. A long and stressful day and we could probably have found accommodation nearer to where we got stuck, but it was worth the effort to know good food was waiting for us.
Highly recommended - the Auberge de l'Arac is in a stunning location and Mike and Moira are very welcoming. We will stay longer next time!

This has the potential to provide an excellent base for a walking/ bird-watching (Dippers and Choughs, but sadly no Lammergeiers)/ cycling or just enjoying the beauty of the Ariege.
The new English proprietors have started to improve their french, their restaurant skills and the ambience of the bedrooms and gites, which are good value, but in need of smartening up. New to the hospitality trade, they deserve to succeed and are very welcoming!

Really lovely little hotel in very quiet village. The owners Mike and Moira could not have been more helpful. We wanted to do some walking and did not know the area. They had maps, made suggestions and pointed us in the right direction. Brilliant walking - beautiful views. Food was good. The nicest hotel we staying in during our week in the Pyrenees.
