What I loved most about this property was waking up every morning opening the kitchen window and looking out over the olive orchards . It was like a postcard! The charming stone farmhouse was built in the 1500's , but you would never know it , as it was lovingly restored and has all the comforts of home including tasteful antiques and a stone fireplace. My other favorite thing was dining outside at the outdoor garden , we grilled outside by lantern light almost every night , it was magical! The fact that there was a swimming pool surrounded by well maintained gardens was an added plus as I love to swim! I also appreciate the fact that the owners are into green technology and utilize photovoltaic electricity! I am already planning my next visit back next spring , I can not recommend this place highly enough , you will love it!

Do a glowing, afternoon Umbrian sun, soothing breezes, and rustic charm sound like an ideal holiday to you? While Tuscany has enjoyed a long heyday as Italy's premier vacation province, the less showy, more "authentic" Umbria is slowly replacing it as travelers' number one Italian destination.

With a rich Etruscan and ancient Roman cultural past, Umbria - just north of Rome - is an ideal blend of cultural interest and more laid-back pleasures. In Umbria, you are also well-placed for discovering gastronomic and vinicultural treasures.

And where better to enjoy such pleasures than an Umbrian base of your very own? Situated in the picturesque town of Amelia, the property of Philip Corsano is an ideal getaway for the traveler in search of a slice of the Umbrian dream. The rustic La Fontana, a country farmhouse comprising a main house and cottages (Pergola), offers a private and authentic atmosphere from which to explore this beautiful province. The accommodations are comfortable and quiet yet within easy walking distance to amenities. La Fontana is truly an Umbrian dream.

Peaceful, adorably rustic, dreamy surroundings, comfortable, friendly staff, La Fontana is a place I highly recommend! Our days there were like being at home in the middle of an Umbrian Dream. The perfect place to relax, no crowds, no noise, just wonderful food, most which comes from their own vegetable garden, including the olive oil!! You have other activities close enough, so it is THE perfect place to try. LOVED IT!

One of the real highlights of our 3 weeks in northern Italy was our 3 days at Hotel La Fontana. The owner, Andreis Giuseppe, is an amazing host who looks after your every need. You will be delighted by the attention and interest he showers on you as well as his wonderufl suggestionsl. Our best meal in 3 weeks was at his suggestion, Triangolo Ristorante on Via Roma, 61 in Stresa!!

  • Liked — personal attention of host
  • Disliked — not too much decoration in room
