“service at the bars atrocious”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

hi just back from two weeks at the rixos sungate 5th to the 19th of july 2012.in all my years of travelling abroad i have never experienced such terrible service at a bar as i did at the lotus bar, there were no where near enough staff on to serve the amount of people who go to that bar, then you had some really good hard working staff, then you had the complete idiots who when you asked them over to order a drink looked at you as if ,what do you want from me,i could be wrong but a waitress is only there to do one thing serve her customers.the bar staff continually ignored the children, if they went to get a drink at the bar.its a bad day when the bar manager knows your name as you have had to complain so much, same with the guest relations manager.all i kept hearing from thebar manager was he had 3 to 4000 guest in the hotel to serve.i told him that was his problem not mine as i had paid a lot of money for this holiday,my last two holidays in turkey in belek had been great the service and staff were superb and this hotel was supposed to be 5 star, well the service wasnt, the hotel boasts of so many different bars, half of them arent even open other ones the staff come and go as they please or spend the time on there phones to there pals rather tha serving you.one evening in the piano bar they ran out of coca cola and the barmaid wasn,t for going and getting any so one of our paty had to go to another bar and get some unbelievable.you might not believe this but i,m not an alcoholic certainly no chance of becoming one at this hotel.the a la carte restaurants were absolutely superb if they ran the rest of the hotel like them it would be a great hotel.this is not a new problem i fear at this hotel as they employ about 6 massive stewards at the lotus bar, to stop holiday makers killing the bar staff and each other because of the service.i never thought i would write a review about a hotel, but i was so annoyed i just had to i hope this helps other people to make a good choice of hotel, because i wont go back to the rixos sungate.

Been here in June. First of all, the hotel and surroundings are extremely clean - i was pleasantly surprised by this (this is related also to a previuos stay in Rixos Belek where it was very dirty...).

The complex is very large - it takes about 15 mins to walk from one part to the other.

The room was very large and clean and so was the bathroom. Minibar (daily replenishment) and safe are provided in each room. Maxibar (snacks, chips, chocolates, some hygiene stuff) also available, but with charge.

The beach - sort of sandy, difficult to enter into the sea (rocky bottom). It has a special area for babies also. Booths with drinks available every 50 m or so. Take care when you plan to arrive at the beach, as russians wake up early and reserve their chaiselongues by thrwoeing the towels on it. Same goes for the pool area, even worse.

By the way, as i am talking about the pool area: is hotel management aware that the pool boys reserve chaiselongues on their own and then, when you come and everything is fullybooked, they can make some available for you for 10 eur/piece? Is this in hotel policy?

Restaurants: plenty to choose from, Veranda and Turqoise quite crowdy. It takes a lot of time (valid in every restaurant) to get your ordered drinks...even 10 minutes waiting time...The food lacks of variety and diversity.

Kids area - it provide a small area for mini disco (the entertainment team is not something to remember; best kid entertainment team i have met was in Susesi), a large playground including an inflatable toy.

One aspect i need to mention: Antalya, as a tourist destination, is not a turkish one any more. It it is pure russian. You can find russians everywhere, everybody talks to you in russian; the prices skyrocked thanks to the russians which pay as much as you ask for it. Russian do not mind about queuing, about behaving, about dressing (men, not the women). As long as you can bear with it, than everything is ok. Otherwise, the russian feeling gets you in a very annoying mood.

Overall it was a good choice and i would return here.

Room Tip: garden view is quite

just back yesterday from the Rixos Sungate and our 14 night stay there was fantastic. we traveled with our 2 boys (10 & 12) and stayed in a standard room. We cheekily requested a sea view when booking and got one and the view from our balcony was superb! The room was very nice and the maids kept the place spotless and our towels changed every day. the food in the hotel was just superb and the choice wow! we ate at most of the a'la carte resturants and the service and food could not have been better the main buffet resturants were also superb with a wide range of foods to cater for everyones taste. our kids loved the water park and spent lots of time there and in the many swiming pools. we went go karting (chargeable) which was also great fun. the hotel grounds, bars and resturants were spotless during our stay and the staff worked tirelessly to keep it that way. the main lotus bar could have done with more staff as you could wait for a while to get served (especially with the rude russian guests barging in all the time!) there is not a lot to the resort but there is no need to venture out as there is enough to keep all the family entertained for the fortnight easily. The night time entertainment looked superb too but unfortunately our boys were exhausted with all their swimming etc through the day it was early nights for us. I cant wait to return! Many thanks Rixos for a fantastic holiday :-)

Very satisfied of choosing this hotel. Its just amazing and the staff are very professionals. Kids and adults activities are unlimited and lots of entertainment. I personaly thank Mr Emre (entertainment manager assistant) for his great efforts and kindness. I strongly recommend this hotel for families with children in any age.

have been there in july 2012 with my family.

99% russian guest which means that there is cause and fights for food and rest.
the hotel is big and has much more guests that they can serve.

40 minutes standing to get the table in the restaurants, 3 times a day. fighting to get the food. Russians grab 45 pieces of each meal, which they can never eat.

no service - you cannt find waiter to ask him to bring water. if you go to the bar you can never get to the barmen because they are guarded by russians who can never get the enough drinks.

at 6am all sun bads are reserved with towels. you will not be able to get even 1 sun bad.

the hotel itself is very nice, good furniture and interior to get the rest needed services you need to fight till death.

i highly dont recommend this hotel to the people who want to get rest and be served. its very bad combination of price and quality.

Stayed at Rixos Sungate for 10 day early July and had a fantastic time, would definitely recommend this hotel. Good Entertainment for all ages, food excellent so much choice, in the many restaurants. Cleanliness of hotel internally and externally is a very good standard, with lovely gardens. The staff work very hard, particularly the waiting on staff. I would recommend the Fantasy bar. Irfan, I think he may have been the head waiter of this particular restaurant, was so friendly and welcoming from day one. We went there every morning for a breakfast, mainly because he was such a nice person and always attentuve. There is not as much choice as the bigger restaurant but more than enough and so much more relaxing and pleasant environment for early morning – Perfect!. Next best place was the Patisseries, Excellent - lovely, lovely cakes, lovely atmosphere, great choice of classical music playing whilst the waterfalls are flowing around, just lovely and relaxing and perfect for afternoon tea. Chai, Head waiter there was also very friendly and attentive. Always willing to bring your drink out to your table once you had ordered. Very nice surroundings and atmosphere, would recommend a visit, we went most days.

Other waiting staff to mention, Mohammed from Moonlight bar at the beach and Gorwat from main restaurant (can’t remember which one) both were very friendly and worked very hard.

And last but not least Char-Tai(?spelling), from Guest services, he rang us up on our first day there, to introduce himself and make sure we were ok. Told us to contact him if we had any questions and he was very helpful when we did. Very friendly and helpful each time we saw him. We were in a bit a rush when we were leaving so never really got the chance to say 'Thanks' to him so if you read this 'thanks for looking after us!' .

All-in-all a great holiday, excellent place, great accommodation. Excellent service with lots to do and very friendly staff doing a very good job. Look forward to when we can return! And have been recommending to friends already!

Easy transfer - 45 mins from Antalya

Easy check-in. Cagtay took us to our room, settled us in and took us for a quick tour which helped get a feel for what is undoubtedly a big self-contained resort.

Room - excellent size for 2 adults and one 11 year old; Seperate shower and shower in bath; flat screen tv with enough English channels to keep uptodate. Safety deposit box. Probably do with a few more hangers if staying for 2 weeks. Large beds and comfy sofa bed for son.

Food - no problems save for no toaster all week we were there. Broken toaster taken away for a couple of days and then returned - broken. Breakfast was well marshalled but they were a bit keen to finish at the exact time in the Pina Restaurant and any late breakfast was in the Verandah/Turkaz complex. Alara snack bar during the day was great for snack/fast food/fruit.

Hygiene was good. Usual problems with other guests being a pit pushy and leaving lids up, but that's not the fault of the hotel. Didn't try any of the specialised restaurants - there were about five from which you were entitled to one free/included visit but others were payable thereafter. Cakes in the Patisserie were excellent but the size of the ice creams from here could best be described as a "thimbleful"!!!!!

Drinks - best compliment, no one had an upset stomach and my son is a very good "barometer" about this. Beer was cold Efes and spirits were all branded - vodka was Stoli. Clear menus at bars telling what was included and what was extra. Bar staff were attentive and seemed to respond better to requests for drinks rather than demands!!!! (As practiced by some nationalities)

Staff - always helpful and if they couldn't immediately assist would get someone who could. Language was never a problem and if I am in a foreign country then there will always be potential language issues but nothing that wasn't resolved. Lifeguards were numerous and attentive. Animation team not pushy.

Facilities were excellent. Waterpark was the best on a complex - recall 11 slides; about 5 on rubber rings and 6 freefall - kept an 11 year old busy. Golf buggies available for transport around complex. Security was unobtrusive at entrances.

The zip wire from the 8th floor down to beachside is now open and look good fun.

Entertainment - good rather than the excellent that they would suggest; good dance shows and two excellent acrobatic/gymnastic shows. One night was an exclusively live Russian girl band - not really any interest for approximately the 15 - 20% who are non-Russian speakers (I understand that the hotel is featuring more prominently in UK brochures for next season so might change)

Very good complex; minor issues that didn't overly spoil the holiday. Probably give it 8.5/10. Would go back but scout out other similar hotels first.

Room Tip: Not sure about a good room, but there was a quiet little bar at far end of complex near to waterpark...
