My two kids, husband and I stayed at the hotel for 11 nights from the 29th March, we were 'upggraded' to a villa apartment which suited us but was a little tired looking. The hotel itself is lovely, the gardens are beautiful and provide a therapeutic break from the hustle and bustle of city living. I had a difficult decision to make regarding holidays keeping my two kids (13 & 8) happy, and my husband who is not a 'sit around by the beach reading books' kind of guy. Beldibi itself does not have much nearby, and Kemer is a shopping centre, but we did hire a car and went out to Phaselis, only a 35 minute drive http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/go/med/phaselis/ which was beautiful and got us away from the resort environment which can feel like 'one flew over the cuckoos nest' after a while.
My husband was happy because there was wifi in the hotel, it did keep disconnecting, but with some perseverance he managed to do some work whilst away. The kids were happy because of the pools, the main one just opened when we were there and was freezing but kids dont seem to feel it!. There was plenty activities on offer, tennis, ping pong, volley ball, kayaking and badmington and there is a 1000m running track marked out around the hotel for those who liked to keep fit. There was also a good gym with a very helpful instructor (shame I forgot my trainers......ahem....). The food was excellent, if you love fresh fruit, salad, Turkish style meze, barbequed food, grilled fish it was available aplenty. The restaurants did well too, Saffron was Delicious Turkish food, Lotus is chinese and Seasons mostly Italian. The waiters and staff try really hard but there is (as previously mentioned) a problem with process. If you are seated early then your service is set off swiftly but as the restaurants fill up it gets very chaotic and you can be left sitting for ages waiting for desert....I think management need to do some process mapping of service in restaurants; it is not the availability of staff that is the problem, it is that their priorities get tangled up as more guests arrive - they also seem to work on a very hierarchical structure, i.e. the waitress cannot give you more bread as that is the head waiters job etc.
I would recommend that you stay at this hotel, problems with service aside the hotel is beautiful and the mountain side setting is spectacular, but if you want something lively directly outside the resort you will be dissapointed.
