We were looking forward to a good Provencal meal in the charming village of Maussane. Unfortunately, we didn't have a great dining experience. Rather than being seated in the restaurant, we were seated on the outside main square across the street, where the restaurant also has tables. It was noisy, crowded, humid, and smoky on a busy weekend night, and our server was not in the best of spirits.
Our tip is to request a table inside. Make reservations in advance (which we did, but ultimately our request could not be accommodated). The food was okay, not great, maybe in part due to the busy night with servers running back and forth with food. The scallop dish was nicely presented, but very gritty (hurriedly prepared and scallops not washed thoroughly). The sole was well prepared, but deboning was not offered. It's a new restaurant and, hopefully, will get past its growing pains as the staff becomes more experienced.
