“Great base for touring the region.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

A comfortable hotel with a very hospitable and helpful team. We used the Aurelia as a base for our cycling hoilday in the region. The parking is free and the bikes were secure. Our room looked out over the pool and gardens and was more than adequate for our needs with the in-room facilities in line with expectations. The breakfast was very good with a wide range of hot and cold items to choose from. The pool and gardens are very relaxing after a cycle ride and we took full advantage on a couple of afternoons. The only meal offered at the hotel is breakfast but this is not a problem as there are several very good restaurants and bars a few minutes walk away in Maussane les Alpilles village. On a couple of evenings we actually bought some cold meats, cheese and bread in the local Spar and had a picnic in the hotel gardens.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms on the garden and pool side have a small patio area with table and two chairs...

This is a good hotel, and the other positive reviewers have described it accurately and fairly.

Unfortunately our stay there coincided with a touring coach party of Taiwanese, who descended on the breakfast buffet every morning like a plague of locusts. The hotel staff were quite overwhelmed on the first morning, but were ready for our fellow guests on subsequent days. Shovelling extra food onto the buffet almost as quickly as it was being consumed. Really quite amusing to watch.

We kept a close eye on our small dog, as the last time I was in Taipei puppy dog chow featured on many restaurant menus.

However, this does not detract from our overall view of this comfortable, friendly hotel set in nice grounds.

Room Tip: Ask for a garden room if you have a dog.

Hotel with 38 rooms. Clean, simple rooms with TV, small fridge & airco. Seperate toilet and bathroom with bathtub. Coffee & tea making facilities, thought not refilled every day. Large breakfast that can be taken outside. Fantastic large garden with swimming pool, olive trees and ample sunbeds. Lots of people use this hotel as a base for daytrips, so garden and pool are hardly overcrowded Very nice trilingual manageress and staff who give plenty of pointers of whats on offer/to do nearby. Several restaurants and village center on walking distance. We are going back this year!

Room Tip: Cheapest rooms are on the front, looking out over the parking and the Alpilles mountains. They have...

Lovely reception by a very frindly Madame. Large, clean room with comfortable beds.. The garden looked really lovely, although we didn't spend time there, but I can imagine it lovely in summer around the swimming poo.

Although the hotel name features the BW tag, it actually has the feel of a small family run hotel. And succeeds because of it. The staff were wonderful: friendly, welcoming and helpful. As a consequence of my itinerary I happened to call into the hotel quite early in the morning. But it was no trouble to leave my bags while I went off walking for the day (you don't want to leave stuff in a rental car at isolated rural spots). When I arrived back in the evening the staff had taken my bags up to my room. Fantastic service!

The hotel is a snap to find, being just on the eastern edge of Mausanne. Also, being set back slightly from the road, it doesn't suffer from traffic noise. The hotel itself, while quite plain outside, is warm, cosy and nicely decorated inside. There's plenty of parking in front of the hotel.

My room was pretty much perfect: spacious, spotlessly clean, comfy bed, nice bathroom and big new TV. A very pleasant addition was simple coffee/tea making facilities. Although fairly normal in UK/US hotels, I can't recall having this in a continental european hotel before. Nice touch.

If I had to highlight one small niggle it would be the cost of the breakfast which, at over 12 euros, seemed quite steep. However, the breakfast room is pleasant and the choice and quality of the food was very good. So, given all the other positive aspects, I was content to pay the price on this occasion. (There are a couple of cafes in Maussane for those who fancy a cheaper/lighter option.)

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Room 19, at the end of the corridor, is a good bet.

We had a lovely welcome at this hotel when we arrived in July from the reception staff and the manageress. Nothing was too much trouble. We were there when Le Tour de France went by on the road outside the hotel and were told to take chairs from the hotel to sit on whilst watching. Rooms are well planned and very clean, the fridge bring a bonus. Lovely grounds to relax in with ample sun beds and swimming pool. Great location for the sights of Provence and just a few minutes walk from the town of Maussane with an assortment of good restaurants. We had an excellent meal in the fish restaurant in the square. This was one of the restaurants which was recommended by the hotel. On arrival reception gave us a list of local restaurants. Very enjoyable stay for 3 nights. Would certainly recommend it. We had booked this through Brittany Ferries so got a very good deal.

A classic Best Western hotel - you get what you see and pay for. The staff are exceptional with nothing being to much trouble. The breakfast was well presented with an excellant choice of food. Eating outside under the trees is an added bonus. The pool and surroundings are well maintained and most welcome during the hot months. The hotels location cannot be bettered for touring this part of Provence being near to but not on top of all the road networks to get north, south etc.

Room Tip: Book ahead.
