“Great hotel! Great location! Nice rooms! Very clean.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2009

Althought my stay in Levi was a quick one, I was impressed by this hotel. It was great! The hotel is clean and rooms are spacious, functional, and immaculately clean. I loved all the wood in the rooms and it truly made me feel like I was staying in a cabin of some sort. The heated drying unit in the washroom would be very useful. There was no bath tub but the bathroom was very functional. There was a separate room in my room with bunk beds. A little kitchen area had a microwave and everything you would require to put together a quick snack.
Although I didn't try it, the pool looked beautiful and they retain certain hours just for their own guests which is a nice touch.
The staff seemed very friendly, accomodating, and spoke very good English.
The location was very central and close to the gondola.
Be sure to buy your postcards and souvenirs like Cloudberry Syrup and alcohol at the grocery store, it's a lot cheaper than the other souvenir shops.

Completed third visit to Lapland and stay at Levituturi Hotel and I must say there was no dissapoitment.
Location to Zero pont and Front slopes was great 5 min walk.
Not much further for free Ski bus.
Food at breakfast was fair but not great hot choice, seemed funny seeing salad laid out at breakfast time, but there was always sme permatation to fill you up
Dinner was good plenty of choice with salads and hot choices, even trying the childrens option was good. Make as many trips as you like if you found something nice.
Sweets for me were a bit bland, but I'm not a sweet lover.

Only downfall was the evening entertainment, live groups at nights but if you are not a balroom dancer then yu will be out of luck. Didn't get doen to the Kareoke bar, and I didn't see many visit it either. Mind you it seemed all places were quite in the resort at night. Walked round a couple of times and hardley met anyone.

Drinks were pricey, but at €5.80 for large Koff seemed high but it was one of the cheaper places apart from buying some tins in the supermarket for your room.

Unfortuantly i had to do the trip on my own, but I booked as a single occupancey which had no extra supliment. On arrival I ws given a spacious twin bedded room with dryin closet, fridge like all other rooms in tha category. Under floor bathroom floor was welcomed. After a full day Skiing the room/bed was very comforting. The cabins are set away from the main block of rooms, each block contained about 10-12 rooms.

The Spa pool was large any not too deep. Felt a bit cold though, even though they said it ws 30 deg.
Only problem was the walk outside to get to it. All included in the price though.

Very central and convieniant for supermarket - information building and to get onto some fantastic walks.

  • Liked — Same good service for all my visits over six years
  • Disliked — Evening entertainment

The Hotelli Levitunturi is all you can expect from a low cost skiing hotel and a lot more, the rooms are fairly spacious and well equiped. The room are perfect for wet, snowy clothes and have a drying off cupboard well positioned in the room. A sauna at the end of the corridor is a refreshing change from the UK's communal facilities and is very clean and well worth a few trips.

The bar facilities and resteraunts are exellent servining fantastic pizza on the lunch time menu. The food is very good for the price although can become a bit repetative. But bear in mind this visit was my second week at this hotel.

The positioning of the hotel could not be better as it is just a 2 minute walk from the Ski storage areas and the slopes.

All in all a great hotel and a great place to Ski.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2008

Ive just returned 3 days ago from my 2nd stay at the levitunturi. Last time i had a small cabin room for 2 and was very happy with it. This time we had a family room in the 800 block, it was fabulous...i travelled with my 2girls aged 4 and 8, and partner, the bunk beds were in a small box room separated by a folding door, we had a kitchenette that was very well equipted.. couldnt fault it at all. I didnt have a drying cupboard last time but sure made use of having one this time.
I stayed over xmas 23rd till 28th, i did the exact same cosmos santa package 2yrs ago...and i know its never the same the 2nd time round.. but the reps were more apathetic and the buffet this time was only 50% of what we were presented with choice wise last time... still very good food frequently replenished, but a touch samey after 5days... and i have to stress i am very adventurous with food, honey and almond glazed cod, willing to give it a go. We did stick to the hotels request that you apply alcohol gel to your hands on the way into the resturant... think about it , not everyone has good hand hygiene, and many hands touch the serving spoons etc on a buffet style resturant, so its more likely that any tummy upsets etc are a direct result of this sort of cross-contamination than any poor standards of food! (used to work in microbiology).
that aside it was a balmy -7 - +3degrees while we were there, the best day for me was xmas day where we booked a local tour... cosmos's were slightly overpriced, to a husky farm and ended up driving 8 husky's over 5k of frozen lake...utter bliss.
Would deff go back, but out of the xmas season next time, great hotel fantastic picture postcard resort... hopefully next time i will get to see the northern lights ;-)

  • Liked — location, rooms, friendly staff
  • Disliked — no tobbogons available outside the hotel...as promised

Booked this holiday with Inghams and stayed at the Hotel LeviTunturi in Dec 08. Two families of 4. Children aged 2,3 8 and 9. Transfers to and from hotel ony 20 minutes and very organised. Handed keys and welcome pack by Rep on arrival and went Straight to room without the need for Hotel checkin. Checkin at Airport easy as boarding cards are handed out on the coach. I have put together a comprehensive review as I know this would have helped me before going if available. Anyone who wants ant further info, please contact me via this forum.

Firstly the Positives:
The resort is absolutley fantastic with more snow than any of us have ever seen in our lives. Very peaceful but still plenty for the kids to do. Most of their spare time was spent on the provided sledges going down the many slopes. Be sure to take a walk into the forest behind the hotel where you will find unspoilt snow and plenty of excellent sledging slopes - The kids and adults had a fantastic time !! Everything about this little town is magical and the ski facilities are fantastic. We paid approx £20 to hire boots, skis and poles for 3 hrs to try it out as this was our first time and that was long enough for a first attempt. Aching and freezing cold by the end !! There is enough ski equipment to hire for the whole of Lapland in the one shop so no shortage of choice.

The food at the hotel is very basic but edible. I think this is the same for all other hotels after speaking to other tourists and not unique to our Hotel. Alcohol is extremely expensive as is everything from food to beverages in Lapland. Beer around 6 euros a 500ml glass. Wine 5 euros a glass. Soft drinks approx 3 Euros a glass. A plate of fries at Zero Point, which is the main centre of the ski resort on the slopes was 6 Euros !!
Miserable and rude people !! I never once got a smile or a hello from any local or hotel staff. I would hold the door for them and they would barge straight pass without a word of thanks. Perhaps it's the fact they only get 4hrs of daylight in the winter !!

1. Snowmobile Safari - Absolutely fantastic. Guided through a forest for a 26Km safari with a stop of for hot drinks and biscuits in a log cabin. Breathtaking sights and I wish I had done the longer version. A must but not for children under 5 due to the cold and the terrain can be quite bumpy. Take advice when there if in doubt.

2. Reindeer Safari - DO NOT GO ON THIS - It is extremely dangerous and unpredictable. This is advertised as a gentle magical ride through a forest and lake. The reindeers are totally unpredicatable. A 20 minute ride lasted about 7 minutes. Myself and 8 yrd old daughter had to jump from the sleigh as the animal would not stop at the end despite the farm staff jumping on our sleigh to try and control the reindeer. He was going absolutely crazy. My wife and 3 yr old had a worse experience and ended up being thrown from the sleigh in the dark in the middle of an Icy Lake. Luckily they were not seriously injured. but were extremely traumatised and upset. The Inghams Rep was no use at all and said this was the first time it had happened. After talking to many other families throughout the resort it was apparent that similar experiences had happened on all other trips. A letter has been sent to Inghams relating to this matter so I hope action is taken before a serious accident occurs.

3. Mini Husky Safari - Expensive for a 5 minute ride through a forest. The rest of the 2 hours was spent in a Kota keeping warm and drinking berry juice. You could not sledge as stated. However, it was an absolutely magical experience for both adults and kids and well worth it especially following the reindeer experience. Do not do the full safari if you have young children. It is absolutely freezing out on the lake and forest. After the 5mins I couldn't feel my face or hands. About -14 degrees.

4. Santa Park - ABSOLUTE RIP OFF - The kids faces were a picture seeing Santa in his home but it is very very commercial. It takes over 2 hours travel each direction and you only get to spend about 2 hours in the park, which is not very big but the queues can be long so you find yourself rushing. Everything costs money in this place. A plate of chips for the kids on arrival - 8 Euros. A small bottle of water= 4 Euros. Picture with Santa = 25 Euros. Elf School Certificate = 15 Euros. 4 Euros to write Santa a letter (you don't even get a reply for 6 months !!), Decorate Mrs Claus biscuits = £3.50 Euros (+ another 3.50 if you want a box to take them home). 10 Euros to sample a shot from an ice glass in the Ice Bar. The list goes on and on. There is not any fussing round the kids or any elves walking around talking to the children and trying to entertain. Everyone just looks so miserable. Santa doesn't even give the kids a present. Instead they get hurried through the door, get given a signed photo of Santa and then have their photo taken and get charged 25 Euros for the provilage !! Certainly not worth the money but what do you tell the kids - it's Santa's home. I would not recommend this trip to anyone especially as the final Inghams party night andvisit by Santa was far superior - see below.

5. Inghams Christams Party Night - Lovely food, great entertainment and a visit by Santa that was far superior o the expensive Santa Park Excursion. Santa arrives on a sledge being pulled by one of the reindeers. All the children have a cuddly reindeer toy and at the end they all go outside and wave bye to Santa who disappears into the snowy forest on his sledge being puled by the reindeer. Now that was magical and more believeable than Santa Park !!

Overall the holiday was very magical and the children loved it. It's very cold so make sure you have your thermals, face scarf, decent gloves, warm socks etc. Three layers was adequate for warmth but a couple of days it hit -22 and that was cold !! We needed an extra layer all over. There are plenty of place to hire clothing if you don't want to but. For us it worked out cheaper to buy from the High Street and outlets than hirer.

The SPA in the hotel is fab and not busy at all despite the locals using the facility, so take your swimming outfits.

The is only one chemist and is open limited hours so make sure you take any medication with you eg. Painkillers for the bumps and bruises from Skiing !!!

The burger bar on site and in the town is quite reasonable for the kids. There are also a few restaurants and a couple of fast food outlets available. Entertainment in Lapland seems to be limited to Karaoke and Ballroom dancing so you will need to make your own entertainment if this is not your scene.

Please contact me for further info. I am more than happy to answer any questions as we spent a week in Levi and done most things in that time so would like to pass on any assistance to future travellers.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2008

Stayed at the Levitunturi for 4 nights just before xmas 2008. I travelled with my sister and 3 Children aged 6 and under. We had two adjacent rooms in one of the single storey chalet units. We originally booked the hotel because of the spa facilities such as the swimming pool - and subequently did not use it once!(too busy) The room was clean, it had its own TV with some free english language channels and a pay per film service, a little kitchenette with a microwave, fridge, cupboards with crockery and cutlery. It also had an ironing board and iron. There was a seperate room with bunk beds further wardrobe and desk , as well as an ensuite shower room ot the main room. The rooms were warm and cosy and there was a drinks machine in the corridor. There were only 4 rooms on our anexe of the chalet accessed through a seperate inner door, which meant not alot of people wandering past which was nice. Outside there was a children play area with a climbing frame etc and loads of the little plastic sledges feely available for children to use, and loads of space for building snowmen, running around and throwing snowballs! There was a fairly extensive food menu, something for every one and a few gluten and dairy free alternatives ( not that we needed them!) Children can opt for a child specific menu if they want but we found this a bit limited - generally only one choice of meat / fish + usual chips / potatoes / rice + veg. You could eat as much as you wanted for those of you with huge appetites, and there were unlimted juices, water and hot beverages during meal times. In the main, apart from the late meal they laid on for those of us guest that were on a delayed flight on the night of our arrive ( didnt get to the hotel until around 11pm) the food was of a good standard especially the cold buffet.

The hotel was excellently located for all the facilities and ski slopes, ski / clothing hire, other restaurants, tourist information office and really close to Kids land the free snow play park for children. Kids land also contains the nursery slopes with a creche facility and free snowboards and sledges etc for children to use. The staff even play games with the children not in the creche. We would definitely stay their again. We didnt have to walk more that 10 minutes for anything, the free sledges were excellent for transporting the children around the resort.

The only reason that the hotel did not get 5 stars is because the children food menu was a bit limited for our picky bunch.

  • Liked — clean and warm, good onsite facilities and proximity facilities
  • Disliked — limited children menu, but my children are very picky. the kichenette compenated for this somewhat tho

Stayed at the hotel for one night in September together with three friends. Hotelli Levitunturi is one of the oldest in Levi. First time when I visited this place was in the eighties.

We had a family room with kichenette and bunk bed. Not that big but big enought for the four of us.

The location is great, located in the centre of Levi very close to the ski slopes.

I particularly like the spa, very relaxing after a day full of activities. Note that you are not allowed to wear swim wear in the sauna, not even in the steam sauna which is shared between both sex. (this is normal for Finland)

We didn´t eat dinner at the hotel, just breakfast. The breakfast was ok.

If you are in Levi during summer or autumn, I highly recommend a visit to Pallastunturi. (about 40 minutes from Levi to the north) Really beautiful scenery there.

  • Liked — The location and the spa.
  • Disliked — Nothing particularly
