“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

Friendly staff and nice clean rooms. The balcony was nice bonus. There is also free parking with security cameras out side the hotel.
Family friendly hotel with excellent location.
Prices were decent during off season. The ski season pumps up the prices but same happens with all of the hotels in the area.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in February, we booked through LaplandHolidays.com and chose the half board excursion trip which included 1 weeks half board stay, 1 night in a glass igloo, reindeer ride, snow mobiling and husky sledging. This was £1000 each.
It is ESSENTIAL to book these trips before you go as they are sooooooo expensive to book once you are there, the igloo alone is around 400 euro.

Upon arrival the Ighams reps took us to buses and ferried us to the various hotels in Levi. All along advising us of interesting Finnish facts and places to go.

We are not skiers and only want to see Finland for the excursions and the Northern Lights - Levi is a small village/town very popular with skiing and snow boarders and the facilities certainly looked great!

The Hullo Poro Hotel itself is really confusing it is made of 4, maybe 5 different parts with different names. The main part of the hotel is where there is reception, a gift shop and access to the restaurant and spa.

We understood we had booked a room with a sauna, however when we got in the room, this was not the case, we spoke the rep and reception but were told that the hotel was full and we could not be moved. (We had to take this up with Inghams when we got home, however they ignored our emails and this was never resolved) The room we were given was at the back of the hotel a separate building next door to the rock bar.

The room was bright and clean, beds were comfy. Towels were changed daily and the sheets every 2 days. The drying cupboard was super handy and used daily.

The hotel restaurant is great, we ate there every morning for breakfast and every evening as we were half board and the food was amazing, each night there was a different fish, meat, and vegetarian dish and loads of lovely sides. All fresh in a buffet style.

Breakfast was beaut with fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts and also sausage/eggs/bacon if wanted. Fresh baked bread is provided at breakfast and dinner, and I think there was around 6-7 different types. I also noticed they catered for coeliacs.

You are given access to the spa, which is a Jacuzzi, Ice Plunge Pool and also a sauna, its lovely. The saunas are separate for men and women, but the Jacuzzi and plunge pool is for both.

Overall the stay was great, the hotel was nice and always clean, reception and bar staff were pleasant and the Inghams reps were great, especially Chris, he went out of his way to help anyone and everyone with anything.

And then to top if off - my boyfriend proposed at the glass igloo. Amazing trip!!

Room Tip: Get a room in the main part of the hotel

We paid £549 each for 1 week half board at the crazy reindeer including flights through Inghams. We were upgraded to a flying reindeer room in the main hotel and we had no complaints. Free wifi worked well in the room the only slight negative was that the rooms were quite warm. The food far exceeded our expectations especially the quality of the meat, as a buffet we didn't expect that. If you are skiing you can walk down to the lifts/zero point using one of the sledges at the hotel to carry your equipment. Or you can take the bus to the other side of the mountain. The stop is just to the right of the hotel but you will need to add a bus ticket to your lift pass for €2 per day at zero point. Inghams were useless but we did book a few excursions through them. Mini husky sledging, visiting the ice hotel and snow mobiles are all well worth doing. Overall a very good holiday in a lovely hotel.

Tip - March/April is probably a better time to go. February is still low season as it is very cold and not all slopes are open

The hotel also runs a penthouse a few minutes walk from the actual hotel. The apartment works well for relaxed work groups / brainstorming / etc. It has AV equipment, a big conference table, kitchen, big couches and three bed rooms + extra bed in the main living room. As suited for a penthouse it's also equipped with a sauna and jacuzzi...but dear God, the mouldy smell in that area...it should be shut down until the problem is solved! Health warning!

The hotel is ideally located in Levi. The rooms are quite big and for the ski resorts are a good value for money. The hotel is actually part of a chain, so you get a 10-15% discount in many restaurants in town if you are staying in this hotel.

Me and my boyfriend were visiting the Finnish Lapland for the first time and after contemplating getting a cottage to stay in, we chose to stay in a hotel. I had heard about the Hullu Poro before and comparing some of the prices, we decided that this place was the obvious choice. Location is central, it's easy to walk to the slopes, the cross country tracks, the restaurants and the tourist information, so basically everything you need for your active Lapland vacation is nearby. The rooms are not the most modern, but they are tidy and the bathrooms are nice with tubs or a sauna. We were a bit surprised to find that housekeeping had not been to our room after the first day. The second day thet however appeard with fresh towels and so. Wifi is free and breakfast included. Breakfast was a bit disappointing some mornings, with items such as juice ruinning out before 9 am. Beyond that I can't really complain as everything worked very nicely and we really enjoyed our stay.
