“Seclusion has Its Limits”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Let me start by saying it rained for three of the four days we were at this resort. And it rained so hard that silt and sand washed down from the hills into the "best snorkeling spot" in St Lucia. Ti Kaye is definitely secluded. It is an hour and a half from the airport and the drive there is extremely windy. It is not the drive for those who even slightly suffer from car sickness. Therefore, if it rains, like it did for us, there is really NOTHING to do.

There are a lot of good/great things about Ti Kaye though. The cottages are lovely and private. Each has an amazing outdoor shower and a huge veranda with hammock to lounge about on. We had a plunge pool but didn't use it because the water was too cold (which was odd because the hotel's pool was the perfect temperature). The staff and the people of St Lucia, in general, are extremely warm, friendly people. We really enjoyed getting to know the people who worked there and the service was great. My husband and I also thought the food was very good and not the usually island quality.

We also made good use of the spa - given the amount of rain we had. It was suprisingly good and the treatment cottages were just perfect. Each had a wall of open windows looking out over the caribbean where you could hear the ocean and feel the breeze. It was lovely.

We probably had an hour where the snorkeling was good and I can see why it could be amazing in great weather. The Sandals' boats with there tourists are a little annoying because they get so close to the snorkeling area and churn up the sand. You should be aware that this is not a white sand beach and the swimming area is rocky. We were a little disappointed by the beach to be honest - not exactly as it looks in the advertisements.

All in all, it was a nice place. Lots of honeymooners -median age is probably around 27. Don't know if we will ever go back, the drive there and back was really tough on my husband and I don't know if there was enough of a pull to bring us there again.

My husband and i just came back from celebrating our 25th anniversary. The resort itself was everything that you will read others posts. It is lovely, secluded and private. The outdoor shower was awesome. Where they drop the ball is on the food for one. A pasta dinner is very expensive which you do expect on a vacation but you will not even get a salad with it or a cup of soup. Very limited options and while I stayed 2 days I cannot imagine being satisfied with 3 or more days on the selection. The breakfast was subpar and never changed. My biggest upset was on my anniversary itself. We chose to stay here for 2 days including our special day and then we were planning on moving to the Sandals Grande. I booked 10 months in advance and my travel agent booked us a private dinner several months in advance. On the day of they said that we could not have our dinner outside because of rain. While it did not rain I can understand it being a problem if it began so we said fine. They then said they could not accomadate our dinner inside because they were doing it for someone else and they only had space for 1 couple. I could not understand how one couple could book their dinner for all night or why they booked mine months in advance. They asked us to change the night and I refused. They did then offer to serve us on our porch. We decided that was not what we wanted. We were high up and far from the water and we would have had no view at night. At least the restaurant was on the water and had a stunning view. They asked us what time and that was it. When we arrived for 8PM dinner the service was awful. We were asked once what kind of drink we wanted and they never returned. We finished our dinner and walked out because a server had never returned to our table in some 40 minutes. The dinner was subpar and when I asked on the way out how the person next to me had a lobster tail and I asked how he had received one since there was none on the menu, they told me it was the early special. I almost cried for how poorly and how unspecial they had made my dinner to be at that point. They did not even offer a glass of champagne for all that happened to us. They would not even offer us a second drink for us to pay for. I had wished so bad that I could have lobster that night and was disappointed by a lackluster menu. I am still shocked of the service we received that day and that they did not offer us a special menu like the "early" guests. So we are giving the resort 3 stars because of the service and food. The resort itself I would have rated a 4. We left as Rafael was hitting and keep in mind that if there is a storm, there is nothing to do at this resort. There is not even televison which is great when you are not in a downpour for 24 hours. We were so glad to escape to the Grande where you had a huge resort to walk around in and still be under cover.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon here in October 2012. We were looking for something low key and non commercial. Although it took a while to get to from the airport in the south we couldn't be happier with the choice we made. The atmosphere was very peaceful and serene and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The stairs to the beach were a little tiring after drinks on the beach but they didn't deter us from enjoying the beautiful cove the resort is set in. It was especially nice to be able to grab some snorkel gear and go out on our own without having to sign up for an excursion (although those are available as well). Although the service at the restaurant was a little slow at times, the food was delicious and made up for the delays. All in all it was a wonderful honeymoon and we would definitely recommend this resort to other couples.

After spending 4 nights at Jalousie Plantation, and prior to a week at East Winds Inn (see separate reviews) we had 4 nights at Ti Kaye, and what a good choice we had made. It was quite a short journey, but a totally different laid back experience. After a very warm welcome there was a short delay for the room to be finished, but then we were shown to one of the Cottages with pool; it was in the most stunning location looking down over the bay. Even on the full day of torrential rain the view and experience were wonderful. Fortunately that was the only really rainy day of our holiday in St Lucia.

The cottage was attractively decorated, furnished and equipped, and the outdoor shower had good pressure. We used the small pool a lot, once we had worked out the best way to get out, owing to the steeply sloping bottom (the pool's not ours!). Sun loungers, rocking chairs and hammock were all put to good use.

The hotel pool shared the stunning view, as did the restaurant and bar. All the food was of a very high standard, well presented and efficiently served, although I never understood why restaurant bookings could only be at 30 minute intervals - don't even try to book for 7.45.

The steps to the beach that seem to upset some people were not really a challenge, even for us pensioners. You probably don't want to find you have forgotten your glasses or book when you get there, but otherwise not a problem. Efficient 'beach dude' and non-aggressive beach vendors make it enjoyable, as do the boats full of Sandals snorkellers and divers that come and go in the bay during the day. Lunch in the beach bar was excellent.

We really did not want to leave this lovely place and, like the others we stayed at, it was made extra special by the attentive and friendly boys and girls who go out of their way to make you comfortable.

We do hope we have the opportunity to come back to this delightful hotel.

Room Tip: Our room (Hadi - or H as they usually call it) was down quite a steep slope a little way from the ma...

We stayed here for a week in late August 2012 for our anniversary.

Cannot speak highly enough. ALL of the staff are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. The rooms are somewhat basic but very much acceptable as you probably won't spend much time in them. The outdoor showers are awesome, love the experience.

This really is a private retreat.

Yes it is miles from anywhere but that's exactly why we went. Wish we could have stocked up on some food on the way there but no biggie. The food was very good for the most part. One or two average meals whilst we were there but the rest were very good/excellent.

The bar is very cozy and I recommend going there in happy hour.

New managers know what they are doing and the whole operation is seamless. Wish we could be back there.

My husband and i spent a week here after reading all the positive reviews, we had a wonderfull room with a huge bed, huge closet, mini fridge, coffee, tea and out door shower which we loved.

We rented a car for the week after reading that it was secluded. we took the east coast hwy as recomended by the agent who gave us the car and it took us about 2 hours to get there I was expecting the roads to be in much worse condition but they were really great. The road down to TK from the hwy is not great but you get use to it and as long as you rent a 4x4 you should be fine.

The staff are amazing they go out of their way to help and are very polite, we recived a complimentary cocktail on arrival, and were greeted by Chris the GM.
Our bag's were taken to the room and then we were escorted and given an explanation about the lights and where everything was. We did not have a plung pool and did not feel that we were lacking the pool is great as well a little small if you want to do laps but great for a soak.
We did not sleep great while we were there but that was due to all the frogs and crickets not the hotel or the room and we also forgot to pull the net around the bed the first 2 nights bring some ear plugs if you have a hard time sleeping because of noise.

We also did the wine tasting and we are not huge drinkers, first of all for the lady's out there it is very COLD in the cellar bring a jacket !!
We found it to be a bit long (2 1/2 hours) and then we asked to stop ...
For those who enjoy learning about wine Cleus is great it was not really our thing though and it starts pretty early at 4:30pm.

I also had a massage at the spa Amazing !!! they have a diffrent special every day, it was so relaxing and i felt great after ward only thing was i wanted to sleep after i was so relaxed.

The stairs down to the beach are not that bad and there are beach chairs and kyaks which were great to go out in. You can also rent snorkel equipment from them and snorkel on the far side is the best.

My husband does not eat fish (what was he doing on an island right ?) anway the chef was very acomadating and dinners were really good, breakfast was ok and the bar by the beach also had good food.

We've been on a 2 weeks holiday and we enjoyed it. St. Lucia as an island is totaly different from the other islands in the Carribean, with a French feeling, style, and spectacular road and scenery. The village is pretty quiet, except of the noise made by the turists on the boats who come daily in the bay, the staff is keeping the place clean and tidy, the rooms are big and with everything you might need. We loved the outside shower, the idea was great! They organise daily trips, which are very good, we highly enjoyed and recommend the Land and Sea Tour, well worth doing it! Also, the girls at the spa are doing a fantastic massage, like nowhere else! There are a few downsides though: we stayed in 2 different villas and in the second one the shower didnt have enough pressure; the food at the restaurant is only 3 star, although the hotel feels like a 4 star; in general the staff is nice and they're trying their best to help but for some reason the communication between themselves isn't working all the time. I would say it is a place recommended to younger tourists or fit ones who seek adventure.
