Previous to our stay at the coconut lodge, my family and I stayed at a resort on Playa Bonita. Our time was less then favorable and gave us a very unrepresentative impression of Panama.

After arriving a coconut lodge, we feel in love--and the stress we endured from the previous resort melted. Our meals were personalized (Mike is a wonderful chef), the decor is beautiful, the grounds well kept, and Nancy/Melissa were such gracious hosts! You can tell their passion for their B&B as every detail was attended to. We were very impressed with our tour from Jean, who is very knowledgeable, calm and upbeat!

You cannot buy this type of service at a huge resort; your time spent at the lodge is customized to your needs! Simply Amazing, we cannot wait to return! It's number one on tripadvisor for a reason! Just fabulous!

We HIGHLY recommend Nancy and Mike's B&B in Panama City! There is a reason that they are #1 on tripadvisor, I assure you. My partner and I were traveling with our 2 year old daughter and Nancy, Mike, Melissa and John made everything so easy for us. It was like staying with relatives -- they picked us up at the airport, took us to the pharmacy and grocery store, did our laundry, made us delicious meals and gave us a grand tour of Panama City, all for very reasonable fees. The room was very quiet and comfortable and the pool was refreshing. It is located in a very pretty residential area about 15-20 minutes' drive from the most interesting parts of town (Casco Viejo, Ancon Hill, Amador Causeway, Miraflores Locks).

After staying at Coconut Lodge, we went to Bocas del Toro for 6 days before flying again out of Panama City. Nancy and Mike allowed us to leave most of our luggage (since the domestic flights have strict weight limits) and even lent us an overnight bag(!) for our trip. They did more laundry for us while we were in Bocas. Although we weren't staying with them on our way home after Bocas since we had a flight back to NY the same day, they picked us up at the airport and brought us back to Coconut Lodge to pick up our luggage. They made us breakfast and we had a swim and a hot shower, then brought us to Tocumen Airport for the trip home. Particularly traveling with a 2 year old I cannot imagine how it could have been easier.

Although we considered staying in Casco Viejo, which is quite interesting, Panama City is very hot and it was a real pleasure to tour the city and then come back to a quiet place in the "country" but so close to downtown.

My husband and I spent 5 nights in early Feb.2013. For a nominal fee we were picked up from there airport by there staff and met us with our name on a poster. Strongly suggest you consider utilizing this service. .We occupied the room called cafe con leche. The room was large and tastefully decorated by Melissa, daughter of Mike and Nancy. The bathroom was large,with the usual amenities, and hair dryer. The honor mini bar was handy. The AC was perfect and we used a remote control to set it for our comfort zone. Upon our arrival we were immediately introduced tp to the dining group[. The outdoor patio sat about 8 couples whom were all finished with dinner and enjoying flowing wine. Thel location is a tranquil haven after touring Panama sites. Our tour guide was part of the team of the Coconut Lodge. The all day tour began early in the morning, and we returned tired but appreciative of viewing the Panama sites. Nancy and Mitch always had a to go breakfast for early departures. The pool spotless and a welcome after a hot touring day. Several times we were just sitting under the swimming umbrella and the staff would deliver a beautiful decorated fruit tray for us to enjoy. Nancy and Mike has an outstanding partnership along with there adult daughter Melissa Our rooms were cleaned spotless daily by staff. We slept late most of the time and always were assured coffee, ceral and fruit were available for breakfast. Coffe was delicious too. My sugguestion is to pay a little extra and enjoy the very reasonably priced dinner.You will have the opportunity to share conversations with other guest and enjoy the lovely landscaped property, warm friendship and peaceful karma.... Thank you Nancy and Mike and Melissa for making our trip one we will never forget. P.S. While we were there there trip advisor award arrived and it was proudly displayed on the counter surrounded by soft candle lights.

My friend and I stayed here for 5 nights and our experience was just fabulous. It's an amazing B&B with beautiful, comfortable accommodations and landscaping. The hosts, Nancy, Mike and Melissa are most gracious and generous in everything they do. Mike is a self taught chef and prepares delicious and creative breakfasts and dinners. Nancy was very helpful making tour arrangements before we arrived and once we got there, she had suggestions for other sights to see and made arrangements, including transportation for us. She also arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport when we arrived, which was most appreciated. She took us on a personal tour of Panama city, which she is very familiar with, and had interesting information about the history, and showed us some things we probably wouldn't have seen on tours with several people. Having a personal tour also gave us time to photograph without feeling rushed, as happens with the larger tours. When we would arrive back at the B&B after an outing, Nancy would greet us at the gate and ask how our day went and always made you feel so welcome. Melissa took us to the Rainforest Discovery Center and Canopy tour early one morning and it was amazing. She arranged to have a naturalist with us to point out birds and other wildlife with the use of her spotting scope. We had hoped to go on a canopy tour but couldn't arrange one before we left. With Melissa's help, we were able to see some wonderful birds from above the trees at sunrise, it was something I'll never forget. Afterward she took us to the Baha'i Temple, which was a simple but elegant structure with wonderful vistas of Panama City, the Centennial Bridge, the Bridge of Americas and some of the canal. It was very nice to walk around the gardens and as it was quite hot that day, sitting in the sanctuary we found to be much cooler and so peaceful with a nice breeze blowing through. Upon arrival back at the B&B, there was time to enjoy the wonderful swimming pool and just relax and have a cool drink before dinner.
Mike prepares wonderful dinners every night except Saturday, when they have an evening off. They suggested a restaurant not far away and Nancy made reservations for us and other guests staying at the B&B. I so enjoyed this visit to Panama and hope to go back someday. I will certainly stay here and it will be so nice to see Nancy, Mike and Melissa again. It was difficult to leave this superb B&B and some wonderful new friends.
