It was my anniversary a coupla weeks back. And I was too caught up with work to plan something nice. That's when one of my colleagues suggested a night stay at Vivanta, Surajkund. Me and my wife were anyways planning a trip to the Surajkund Fair (an annual fair that takes place from 1st Feb. to 14th Feb.). So, without a second thought, I chose to spend a night there and drop by the fair the next day, after we check out.
A quick booking over the phone, and there we were, the very next day. Was greeted by courteous smiling faces all around. A pleasant sight to see. The room was a delight. What made it more special was a complimentary anniversary cake waiting in the room. And they didn't even miss out on the candles. Next to it were some fresh lilies. Just the start we needed for a wonderful anniversary. The bell boy took two phone calls to get the bag (the collected from me at the reception) to the room though. A little folly I chose to ignore.
The room was clean and so was the bathroom. Was also delighted to find Forest Essential bathroom items (like Shampoos, Conditioners and Body Lotions).
The balcony, I noticed, was filled with pigeon poop though. I looked around and saw pigeons all over, so no point complaining. the housekeeping guys did clean it up once I called them, though.
Though we spent most of the time in the room and a better half of the evening in the balcony, we did go down for a smoke to the lawn next to the fountain. Quite a sight it was, fire billowing out of pipes and reflecting on the running water around it.
The room service was prompt. And the breakfast, the next day, was a real treat. Quite variety t chose from, for vegetarians as well as die-hard non-vegetarians like me.
There was one minor hiccup. Quite a serious issue though. It so happens that on occasions wherein I like the personal bathroom accessories (like Shampoos, Conditioners, Soaps, Body Lotions) I Bring home those miniature bottles. Gioes without saying that I packed the Forest Essentials stuff, in my bag.
As I checked out, I left the bag with the Concierge Desk. The Surajkund Fair was right opposite the road so I told them that I would collect it once I am back from the fair. I left my car too (wheresoever the Valet guys must have (parked it a day before). And so i returned after 4-5 hours, collected my luggage from the Concierge Desk and came back home. The rude shock came when I unpacked. The Shampoo, Conditioner and Bdy Lotion were missing from the side pocket of my duffel bag. The zipper was intact, and so were my Carolina Herrera 212 Men and Nike Deo. but rhe Forest Essentials stuff was nowhere to be found. That's what I found out. No doubts as to where they went missing (cause I didn't call for a bell-boy while checking out. Delivered my luggage to the Concierge guys after checking out by myself. Though one may say that they kept only the hotel's belongings, the scary part is that somebody actually opened my bag while left it with them. So not expected of a reputed hotel like this. I consider myself lucky that I didn't keep any valuable in the bag.
Other than that, it was a superb experience indeed.
Go for the higher floors. You'll get a better view.
