“Loved It!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

My husband and I loved this place. It is beautiful, the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is to die for!! The chef is proud of what comes out of his kitchen and should be. This was the best food we had in Italy.
We were fortunate to be able to help with the harvest of the grapes, what a wonderful experience and a great day with amazing people from all over the globe. The manager and owner are so down to earth and friendly you feel like family.
We visited some great wineries in the area and were able to take some amazing photos to add to our collection.
Our room was gorgeous and so comfortable. We enjoyed every moment of our time here! We would highly recommend Villa La Palagina.

Room Tip: We stayed in one of the junior suites with a view of the pools, it was beautiful.

No doubt this place was the highlight of our 2 weeks travel to Italy. We stayed at Villa La Palagina 3 days and we all (my wife, our 5 and 11 years old kids and myself) would stay there at least couple of days more - even on account of other places in Italy. We loved everything - the room was big enough for four, clean and comfortable, the staff is very friendly and helpful, the pool is great - but above all the food - one of the best we tasted ever. And, of course, the picturesque Tuscanian landscape! Also the surrounding area is perfect for traveling, including a great day we spent in Florence.
Couple of drawbacks which didn't disturb us too much but should be taken into account: (a) there's no elevators, bringing the luggage to the 3rd floor was a kind of exercise (b) there are lots of moscitos and other biting insects and (c) it's pity that WiFi is available only in public areas. Yet, these drawbacks are quite minor compared to all benefits this place offers!

This place is amazing. The food is some of the best I have tasted with the views and ambience to match. You must try the food tasting menu coupled with the wine tasting menu, a real treat and experience. The staff are attentive and friendly without being over bearing. The pool area is lovely and clean with some of the best panaromic views of the Tuscan countryside. There was a wedding booked in one day and all the guests were crammed around one pool so that this could be set up around the other. This didn't feel quite right to me, as a full paying guest I would have preferred to be able to use all the facilities comfortably and if you were visiting for the day/weekend this would taint your experience I should imagine. The rooms were comfortable and authentic. We stayed in a 2 bedroomed apartment in a seperate block to the hotel. This could be quite noisy at times as you could hear the neighbours quite clearly through the walls. Also the rooms could be a bit better equipped I feel and made a little more comfortable. Just a few finishing touches would have made this place a 5 star rating. It's well located - Figline is a nice little town and nearby Greve is a gem of a place and a must to visit. I'd go back in a heartbeat though, and I'm not the type of traveller to visit the same destination/hotel twice, so this is high praise indeed!

What a little gem Villa La Palagina is! A friend of ours, who was renting a nearby villa, suggested that we stay here, since it was practically a few steps away from her. We couldn't believe that we could actually get a nice & clean room in the middle of the Chianti region at peak season for a mere EUR 119 a night. Our room and the hotel exuded rustic Italian charm. The hotel actually has two large gorgeous swimming pools, overlooking the valley below. Cypresses, vineyards and olive trees stretched into the horizon. Sting and his wife have their villa nearby and run a shop selling organic olive oil, honey, etc. Of course, they are not literally attending the shop, but own the property. The restaurant was absolutely divine, offering local cooking with a sophisticated twist. We had a wine tasting with some friends, which included generous portions of 5 different local wines of high quality and accompanying snacks ... at just EUR 22 per person. Knowing Napa Valley, CA well, that is a total bargain! In all, La Palagina was a delightful discovery in every way!

Absolutely gorgeous place . A lovely holiday . The villa was superb , we lived our personal swimming pool .
The olive trees were blooming all around the villa . Looking down at the grape vines
A rustic life with no air conditioning - made us sit out in the garden and soak in the lovely scenery and also have us time to speak to each other

This was our second stay, the first one was in an apartment and this year we stayed in the hotel in a superior double room. The hotel is in a stunning location and the rooms are spacious and fitted with air-condition. We got a lovely welcome from Eric and Fabio and the rest of the staff and everyone is very helpful and professional. The food in the restaurant is very good and the menu consists of a good variety of dishes. This is most definitely our favourite hotel and we will be going back there. Thank you Eric and staff and hopefully we see you again soon!
