We spent only 2 days at Villa Arabella ! It's not enough but within these two days we discovered a great place.
Arabella and Paul were delicious hosts. We had the impression to spend time with friends.
With no kind of hesitation, we recommend ! And do not hesitate to have a dinner with Paul and Arabella !

When we visited Villa Arabellas we were hoping for a combination of relaxation and exploration and boy did we get that right.Paul and Arabella went out of their way to make us feel at home and when we did want to venture out they made sure we had all the important local information possible, nothing was too much trouble. l can personally recommend the Villa Arabella breakfast which covered every conceivable combination of taste or requirement.

A beautiful old house completely restored with all new everything. Sits on the top of a hill completely surrounded by vineyards and woods. Quiet, peaceful, refreshing and beautiful. My wife and I stayed for three nights and loved it. Paul and Arabella, the owners, are British. They don't hover, like some B&B owners. They spent years restoring the place. The bathrooms are all new, and so is the pool. Bedrooms are large. Paul is a great cook, if you choose to eat there. There's lots to visit in the villages nearby. It's just a great place to kick back for a few days and enjoy the atmosphere of Northern Italy outside of Milan. Highly recommended.

on our way back home we booked with Arabella & Paul. our car broke down just before we arrived and we had to wait for 3 days before the spare-part came in. well, we could not have had a better place to get stuck. when entering the great villa you're overwhelmed by the lay out and the amazing decoration. different styles combined in an interior that is straight out of the vogue living. for a moment we felt like being on a movie set of a great italian movie. in any other case one would perhaps feel a bit awkward. not in this case. we felt at home right away and never wondered why there weren't any cameras.
it was hot that period. very hot. and dry. but not at the pool and certainly not at the poolside. Paul knows his wines and introduced us to the finer things of italian life. Arabella knows how her foods (as does paul, for that matter) and we were absolutely treated with tasteful breakfasts and their home cooked dinner.
did we mention the pool is great? if so, we'll mention it again.
the house cats have their own outside habitat and sometimes come over during (the outside) breakfast to greet you after a long night of hunting around. they're just lovely and do listen to their names. well, who wouldn't repsond to a name like Tabasco?
what can we say; take your time and let your car brake down in the neighbourhood. then you'll surely experience the true atmosphere of the lovely hosts. take your time! luckily we had to.

We stayed at Villa Arabella in May of 2009 and Paul and Arabella could not have been more gracious hosts. We felt like their house-guests, not their customers. The Villa is lovely, with gorgeous views from all sides. The breakfast was delicious and we ate outside in their loggia. Paul arranged a wine tasting for us at a local vineyard and then came along to act as the translator when there was no one there who spoke English. Villa Arabella was the most unique and personal place we stayed on our trip.

Surrounded by vines an hour from Milan, Villa Arabella was a magical treat from the moment our small group arrived for a weekend. Dinner by the pool cooked by Arabella and Paul, served with Prosecco, fine local wines and locally produced Grappa, ensured a long lie-in the next day and a gentle wander by car around the stunning gentle scenery. Villa Arabella has been oh-so tastefully restored by this cosmopolitan couple who speak just about every European language going, especially English. Stunning breakfast of fresh home-grown fruit and warm buns and jams were followed by a dip in the pool. Arabella and Paul took us for a stroll around the local market on Sunday morning to buy local sausage and parmesan before we unwillingly left a little gem of a place.

June 2008
Paul & Arabella Lizioli are gracious hosts at their exquisite Villa Arabella in the Oltrepo region of Italy, extending their genuinely wam and gracious hospitality to visiting guests. With breathtaking views from every window, a beautiful pool area to relax around, and charming accomodations, it truly feels like home away from home. No request is too much trouble, and both Paul and Arabella are widely travelled and speak English and Italian fluently themselves.
I would highly recommend this spot to any friends who like the personal touch!!
