“Spacious room, lovely bathroom, beautiful view. Only a 20 minute bike ride along the river path to Florence.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

Podere Scatological is a country villa set on an olive farm. My room was a good size and clean with a comfortable bed. The bathroom had an excellent shower, toilet, bidet, sink, and thick luxurious towels. I did have to ask for drinking water and a glass; as well - little shampoos etc. were not supplied. (no big deal) There was an efficient air conditioner which I did use, as an open window eventually meant a couple of mosquitoes buzzing in my ear. I had an excellent sleep in a serene location.

Breakfast included a variety of pastries, sliced meats, cheeses, whole fresh fruit, yoghourt and cereals. Cappuccino was nicely prepared and service was kind. I ate my breakfast on the patio, overlooking the pool most days - gazing at the olive trees and beautiful countryside. I also ate indoors in the lovely sitting/dining room one day.

This is a great place to stay and my only complaint would be the lack of an area to get or consume a beverage in the evening. The villa is about 2 km from access to food etc. and so if you are hungry, or thirsty for more than water, .you need to plan ahead. I can suggest walking down the hill to Signa and directly across from the train station is Enrico's Restaurant. Be patient and you will have the best pasta of your life! There is also a gelato shop close to Enrico's that will not disappoint. I stayed at Podere Scarabattoli and rode a bike along the river trail to Firenze everyday. I also took the train once or twice and walked up to the villa.

I would stay here again, but ensure I planned for the lack of food and beverage availability a little better next time.

We stayed at the Podere Scarabattoli to use Signa as a base to visit Florence due to the ability to get the train from Signa. As everyone else has said the property is an oasis of peace set in the rolling hills of Tuscany. The rooms were large and clean, with a fabulous breakfast. Given the horrendous traffic situation in Florence, the train from Signa is a very good option, but one needs a car to get to and from the station and Podere Scarabattoli.

We have just returned from a week in Italy and we had the pleasure of staying at the Podere Scarabattoli. The location was lovely, the rooms clean and the swimming pool beautiful. The staff could not have been more helpful and we both said that we would be very happy to return there again another time. We took the train one day into Firenze and found it to be very efficient, easy and economical. We will definitely go back. Do not hesitate to book this wonderful hotel.

On our final day of a wonderful holiday at Podere Scarabattoli, what an idilic gem! Small hotel only six rooms so don't expect everything you would get in a large hotel. The room a good size and was spacious, clean and bathroom was lovely. No kettle but that was the only comment. Breakfast was continental and was beautifully presented, all the staff were polite and very helpful. The location is about 3 km from Signa (a small town with not much to shout about) with a train station on the main pisa to Florence line, excellent for day trips. Only 18 mins to Florence central and all the delights of the city. Also about 50 mins on the train from pisa. Highly recommend for a taste of Tuscany at its best!

Lorenza goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is the best. All the staff work hard to insure you are comfortable and your every need is met. Loved the location among Olive trees and beautiful gardens. Beautiful pool and enjoyed the pool lights from our window. Our room was lovely and large, comfortable, large bathroom and spotlessly clean. Very good breakfast and coffee. I do recommend you have a car to get you to the train, sightseeing and dinner. We traveled through much of western Europe and stayed at many different accommodations. This was our favorite and we will return for a longer stay on our next trip to Italy.

Podere Scarabatolli is indeed a magnificent place in Toscana!
Lorenza and Walter are two exceptional people ready to help with anything you want or need! And also the girl that helps them!
The rooms are spacious, with large bathrooms, well equipped, very clean and with a great view.
The breakfest is delicious, with delightful pastries and maybe the best coffee in Italy!
Also spectacular the landscape surronding the place and the swimming pool.
For sure a place where you can taste the beautiful toscany atmosphere.

Podere Scarabattoli is an awesome place: small, beautiful, quiet, wonderful!! Lorenza and her friend, I am so sorry for not remembering her name now....are simply the most friendly and great people we have met in this trip!! PODERE SCARABATTOLI has only 6 rooms, very well decorated, clean....breakfast is delicious....everything is handmade and the coffee is perfect!! The other girl has also ironed some clothes we needed for my sister's wedding!! My husband and friends decided to have barbecue and Lorenza provided us coal, an incredible salad and APEROL Spritz too!!! She also took them to buy meat in Signa!!! Could you believe this place and people??!! I strongly recommend it!!

Room Tip: All rooms have great view and space!!
