“a perfect island hideaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

This was the perfect place to stay for 2 nights on my 10-day journey from Lewis to Barra. Ideally located between North and South Uist, Margaret and Stewart went out of their way to make my stay as pleasant as possible.
Everything was spotlessly clean and to my delight my single room was larger than I usually find in b&bs (often a problem when I want to open my large suitcase).

The comfortable lounge has an extensive library covering all things Hebridean and beyond which was very helpful for my planning.

I would not hesitate a second to stay with them again during another trip to the islands.

I have had many holidays on the Outer Hebridean islands but am convinced this is the best guest house in which to stay. The hosts Margaret and Stuart are just so kind, generous and friendly and make their lovely home so welcoming to guests. They are very knowledgeable about the islands and always ready with pots of tea, coffee and nibbles after a long day out. A very good position on the islands with easy access both north and south and from the ferries. Highly Recommended!

Room Tip: Twin, double or single...all comfortable and good.

We stayed with Stewart and Margaret for four nights and had a brilliant time. They are both very knowledgeable about the local area and other Islands, providing maps, books and informing us about local wildlife and where to look. They are excellent hosts and we had comfortable rooms, also a lounge to relax in each evening where we could look through the vast selection of books about the Western Isles. This is definitely the best B & B we have ever stayed in.

I loved this place. It is very clean and really comfortable. The owners strike a brilliant balance between giving you your own space and being very helpful. They have thought of everything including providing maps marked up with tea shops, loos etc. There is possibly the best selection of books available that I have come across in any accommodation. The breakfasts were great and you feel really at home. I was sorry to leave and would visit again without hesitation.

Room Tip: Front bedroom has a view of the sea.

I cannot praise them enough very welcoming helpful and knowledgeable hosts. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful . Especially loved the grapefruit or fruit as an option. The house is really clean and comfortable . We would certainly go back there the next time we are in the Hebrides !

We stayed one night at Ardnastruban in horrendous weather and it was certainly a shelter from the storm. Margaret and Stewart were excellent hosts, the room was comfortable, the facilities great and breakfast was excellent. The lounge available to us was also comfortable with lots of books and maps to look over. Although the location is rural it was only a 5 minute drive back across the causeway for dinner at a nice little restaurant for a simple meal at a good price. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend them, especially if you are in to fishing as Stewart is a local fishing guide.

For the first time in fourteen days during our holidays on the Western Isles the weather was a bit disappointing. This B&B certainly wasn't ! Outside it was cold and wet, but thanks to Margaret and Stewart we felt warm and welcome inside the house. What perfect hosts they are! Sincerely interested in their guests, always ready to help: a comfortable stay in Ardnastruban house is guaranteed! We had a lovely room, spotlessly clean and the living room for guests is truly nice and cosy with wonderful views. The breakfast was copious and delicious. Although we only stayed for one night we were sorry to say goodbye to our hosts. They are so kind and helpful. We have been travelling in Britain for more than 35 years, but this was certainly one of the most welcoming B&B's we ever slept in. Need I say more?
