Description: This is a delightful country inn that serves homemade food and real ales. Elisabeth is a delightful host. They have owned the Inn for a number of years and have recently done a lot of renovation work inside. The wood burner in the bar is great on cold wet days. They also have a small stone cottage (beds and bathroom only) in the grounds. The real ales are to be recommended!

“Disappointed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

This pub is recommended for its beer, I will never know. Despite phoning ahead (a few weeks earlier) and being assured it would be open when 5 five tired and wet bikers arrived at 1.20pm on a Thursday afternoon the pub was in darkness and the man inside wearing a dressing gown who saw me knocking refused to answer the door or have the courtesy to explain the situation. I can only hope there was a really serious reason why they were shut, otherwise they do not deserve any custom. Thankfully there was a very nice "Community" run cafe just down the road where quality and service was excellent.

“Closed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013 via mobile

Really sad to find the Westford closed on a Saturday lunchtime in early September, having made a special journey to sample the ale!

It looked as though the sign proclaiming the closure was in regular use so if you're hoping to enjoy this Inn it might be worth ringing ahead to check the opening - 01876 580653.

Not sure why the Inn was closed as no explanation given but we shall be reluctant to plan a further visit!

“Great food.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

A really decent, unpretentious pub/restaurant. The menu is limited to three choices but all of the food on offer is home made and delicious. It is excellent quality and very reasonably priced. There is also a wide selection of interesting real ales. Would definitely recommend.

“limited menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

A pleasant Inn, although lacked seating in the main bar which was the most cosy room. The food was excellent and there was loads of it - however, the menu available depends which or if a certain chef is on. The choice can be very limited with the same thing repeated night after night, which is difficult if you are in the area for any time.

“Good pub with food: 'it does what it says on the tin'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

True you are not spoiled for choice of pub(s) on the island. But it is a pleasant pub where locals and visitors mix happily together, the staff are amiable, the beer good and the food satisfying. What's not to like? Well maybe the trip back home on a single track road with ditches and passing places, so make sure your appointed driver has plenty of will power.
