Myself and my girlfriend went to kavos mid September 2012. The weather was good but not great, 4 days sun 3 days overcast. on arrival i left my passports, all the money and documentation on the transfer bus, told the rep and they sorted it straight out so couldn't knock them there, whilst waiting for our bag he showed us to the room, we were slightly shocked with the room, it was filthy, the bed side tables were disgusting as was the bathroom, it hadn't been cleaned at all apart from the sheets flipped over from the last person who stayed. if you wanted an early night be prepared to listen to music from Snobs until at least 4am the doors make no difference it was sooo loud it was unbelievable. The final downside was the infestation of ants we had, they were crawling up onto the bed and on the pillows whilst you slept but on the 4th day the cleaners
finally came and sprayed some ant killer.
Despite the shabby room we came to live with it, the pool was fantastic, fairy cheap drinks, great music and nice pool. i suspect as we went late season it would have normally been busier and sunbeds would have been in more demand but i think they would accommodate for that.
The reps initially were annoying, but after the first night were a great laugh, mainly as i had to be wheel chaired back after taking advantage of a free bar on the Kavos Rocks night. The events the reps organised better than expected, bar the full moon party, we were very disappointed with this as it was nothing like how they described. i would recommend the booze cruise and kavos rocks though for sure!
The main disappointment with the holiday was kavos its self, i know its meant for large groups of lads and girls but through the day its a complete dump, no where to eat that does nice meals, an awful beach, the water was brown, glass all over the beach and sunbed which look like there were from the 70's they were that old. On an evening you couldnt go for a nice meal with out been hassled all the way down the strip, one night a woman physically pulled me into the bar and ended up having to push how out of the way. We would have walked down the beach on the walk home, but everyone is advised to stay away from that at night as Albanian Gypsies mug you.
During the day we ended up catching the local buses which were fantastic! they were brand new, punctual and cheap. i would recommend going to Marbella Beach, was about 10euro return for a couple but was crystal clear water and a clean pebble beach, there were water sports and a 5 star hotel if you wanted something really nice to eat. peddlo was 20 euro for the hour and jet ski was 70 but we got him down to 50 euro.
We also went to Corfu town, nothing really there considering it took 2 hours each way, until we found an island called Vido, you could catch a public boat over to it from the port for 2 euro return and it was just full of little private beached with clear water and sandy beached, was a gem.
Another thing people said to be aware of was the Quads and Buggies, we rented a buggy for the day and it was great! 30 euro for rental, then we put a 10er of fuel in and it kept us going all day, we just went to all the little villages near by had lunch and a few drinks was a nice day out. they were a little rattly but it was okay, we rented it from the second shop down if that makes sense, they took my driving license as form of security but that was it.
Overall i would not recommend Trabukos for the rooms, but the reps and pool made up for it. it was very very basic but you get used to it. There is a slight smell as everyone says but its not as bad as some make out.
