Me and my friend both of twenty recently stayed at the Morfeas hotel in early september.
On arrival the hotel bar and reception seemed fine, the only problem was they wanted to keep are passports (on a wooden shelf just behind reception where anybody could see or steel them!)
The ground of the hotel absolutely stunk of sewage, at time to time you could also smell this in the rest of Kavos but the hotel seemed particularly bad!
We were then directed up to our room......... Very shabby decor and not very clean!
The bathroom was disgusting, the floor was constantly flooded (from what seemed some grubby vent on the floor under a soggy filthy shower rug! The shower rail was broken, the shower head all crusty and mouldy. The shower never ran properly and wouldn't stay on! There were cracked and dirty tiles and the floor just seemed so dirty due to the constant water! The loo brush was absolutely filthy! It was soo dirty, and on constant view as it was in a proper container!
The fridge was very dirty, mouldy, stained and generally horrible inside and out! We kept nothing in there other than bottled water! The cupboards smelt foisty and generally manky, so we kept no clothes in them just left them in the suitcase and piled on top of the case.
The skirting boards was mouldy and manky and the room really needed a good decorate! The curtains were horrible soo dated and dirty! All the walls seemed dirty and generally the whole room needed re doing! We saw no point in complaining as from other guests leaving there doors open you could see there rooms didn't seem much better!
The breakfast was the next horrible surprise! We were aware we were having continental breakfast but at least expected some bacon, eggs and beans. Instead (after an half hour wait in a wasp infested restaurant) we were presented with toast, orange juice and a croissant! Defiantly not the breakfast you need after a night out! We turned it down and as we were only minutes from the restaurant, cafes and bars and went to look else where. The food in Kavos is so cheap so defiantly go self catering! Literally the first cafe we came to provided a full english breakfast for €2.50! So we continued to eat there every day and avoid the hotels breakfast!
The pool area is fine, covered in wasps but then again most of kavos is! Guests left old food about and it was not cleaned up quickly enough by the staff so wasps absolutely swamped the area! The bar was fine good drinks, and the DJ was friendly and polite!
The cleaners were terrible, didn't knock and just walked in!
At the end of our week the weather took a turn for the worst and it began to poor! On the first day of this weather we did as usual and left the hotel to go and have breakfast else where. On returning to the room we found are room had flooded, everything on the floor soaked such as are suitcases! All are towels had been removed from the room?!?
We then went down to the reception and asked what had happened to are room, the receptionist was very uninterested and unhelpful and said "oh yea i think one of the cleaners mentioned something about that, we cant help the weather that room always floods". We explained the cleaners had obviously taken are towels to attempt mopping up the water. She then gave us a couple of new towels, and lots of old ones which she told us to block up the door with to prevent more water coming in.We did this but this isnt really something you want to be doing on your holiday! I informed the receptionist all are clothes and suitcases were socked and she asked up to bag them up and she would take then away to wash and dry, (the only reasonable comment she ever came out with) .
Not long after that a cleaner (just walked into are room) and presented us with a manky dirty old fashioned rug to put on the floor! We didn't bother saying anything as they spoke no english so just left it.
The next day (still raining) water started running in from inside the room through cracks in the wall. Again we went back to reception were again we were given more old manky towels to pad against the wall! The receptionist also explained she would give us a mop and bucket to mop are our floor! She then asked if it was still raining as she didn't want to go out into the rain to find the mop and bucket. Her attitude was terrible, so unhelpful and cocky! Are clothes were given back later that day still wet, but better. Are room was so damp and horrible nothing was drying and even the pictures in the frames had shrivelled up it was that damp.
As we had not payed for the air conditioning for the week we were given the keys to it for one night, and one night only to turn on the heater to try and dry the room out.
It made no difference at all and I'm so glad we had not payed for it in the first place!
All in all we managed to have a good holiday and did not let the bad things ruin it.
Avoid this hotel!!
