“If you r thinking of booking DONT!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

I have just returned from a week at the agnes. I had been told by thomas cook that the reviews were good with 1 r 2 poor ones and that it wad suitable for children.. On arrival I went to my room which was still wet but I thought well at lwast its been cleaned!! Looking around I found lits of ants on the kitchen side but I cleaned it etc and this seemed to work.(I also ended uo cleanind the majority if the room) Havin sorted out our things we looked around thinking we would check out the beautiful sandy beaches as promised but was disappointed to find dirty horrible stoney things instead. Not what I booked r what I wanted to take my daughter to.The cooking facilities were worse than poor no utencils to use and the cooker/ hot plate took too long to heat too. There was no where to sit and eat in the room so end up sitting in the bed with dinner on our knees!!! Not ideal... The shower was a whole new adventure with nothin to hold the shower head up it was extremely difficult to hold the shower head and wash body/hair. The bathroom got extremely wet throughou this and was only made worse by the water comin back through the drains in tne bathroom floor. It was very slippy resulting in my daughter slipping and hurting herself. Towels we were provided with were slightly bigger than a tea towel and only changed once a week and was only allocated one per person. Only one small toilet roll was allocated per room regardless on how many occupied it. My curtain pole fell down twice during my stay so everyone could see in my room until it was fixed which made changing etc difficult as the bathroom was always slippy. I also had to cover another window as people cold see in. TV in the room didnt work and when I asked tne manger her English suddenly became poor and she walked off. I found that the cleaners where rude when asking them anything at all. The noise levels were terrible shouting, screaming and banging on doors throughout the night til 630am ish. There are no pathways either and no apparent rules on driving so unsafe again for children. Trasfers we were told took about 40mins but these took over 2 hrs.
I did ask to be moved but was told there was no where else to go!!!
We made the best of a bad deal and went out on boat trips etc but I would never return nor would I ever recommend it!!!

Went to Kavos for a cheap get-away after A level exams with five other friends and had a mental time! The drinks are ridiculously cheap and the bars/clubs are full of people having a good time.

The hotel staff checked us in within about 10/15 minutes of us arriving and were very friendly throughout - especially the big blue pool bar staff. The reception was open 24 hours which was pretty handy if you wanted to leave your room key there (so you don't lose it on your night on the strip) and pick it up when you get back. However, the staff on the desk seem to give away keys to the safes pretty easily which is worrying. On a night out, we made some new friends with another group staying at the hotel. One of them ended up in hospital and i was able to get the key to his safe which had their entire group's money in (to get his passport for the medical centre) by just telling the man at the reception desk his name and room number. From this, i'd suggest not to leave your safe key at reception!

The value for money is good, the rooms were large and beds were comfortable. Cleaning staff came in and tidied up every other day, but a couple of my friends had a few t-shirts go missing. Definitely pay for air conditioning or else you may struggle to sleep at night, unless you resort to passing out on the floor as the tiles are cool! There is a small kitchen area with a stove and microwave, bowls/glasses etc if you want to make little bits and pieces like supernoodles or sauce for pasta. The bathroom is of a decent size but the shower just consists of a hand held shower head which you literally hose yourself down with, but nothing too hard to deal with! Also, remember not to flush toilet paper because of Greece's rubbish sewer system. One of our friends always forgot this and the room ended up smelling pretty bad because of it.

The location is perfect as you're on the main strip literally a 30 second walk from the closest bar, but it's slightly away (2 minute walk) from the clubs so the music is only faintly heard inside the rooms. The swimming pool is large and clean with plenty of sun loungers surrounding. You do need to pay 1 euro to use a lounger per day but this also includes a bottle of water which you'd probably want to buy during the day anyway. The pool bar serves good and cheap food 24 hours - perfect for hangover cures. Only downside to the pool is that the same CD is played on repeat all day, every day, with many of the songs being years old. After a couple of days we knew the playlist order and joked about knowing exactly which song was coming next.

Overall a brilliant hotel for a first time lads or girls holiday.

On another note, because this is a 2wentys run hotel I wanted to write a little about their service. The reps were brilliant, available at pretty much any time you needed them, helped out with any troubles or problems and were great fun on nights out.
Regarding the nights out that they sell, i would definitely recommend the 'School Disco' as the cheap bar crawl, funny costumes and unlimited free bar at the end club resulted in a very messy night out! That alongside the live acts that perform each week, we had Jaguar skills who was brilliant and the atmosphere in the venue was great. The water park was a really good day out too, however the two and half hour journey on coach to get there wasn't great, especially when you're ridiculously hungover and feeling sick the entire way because of the bendy roads. Don't drink too much the night before if you decide to go there!!
On the downside, skip the full moon party, the tickets were ridiculously expensive for what was essentially entry into a club that you could enter for free a few hours later and once you were into the bar on the beach, the drinks were triple the price of anywhere else on the strip. We left that place less than an hour after we went in and continued on the strip instead!

Other than that there are plenty drinks deal all night in every bar you come across so you'll get very drunk off little money wherever you end up! Watch out for the gypsies in the street - whether they're old, young children or women pretending to be pregnant, they will try to sell you things and steal from you without you even realising. Also, if you're buying predrinks from a store always bargain with the owner because they will knock up to 50% off the price if you ask.

Room Tip: Rooms for three are huge in comparison to rooms for two.

The hotel itself is quite small, but very clean. The cleaners were in every day cleaning everything properly. The rooms are basic, but you really only sleep there and get ready for a night out.
It is situated just at the beach, but believe me, you will not use it. It's not on the main strip in Kavos, but that's what you want if you need a bit of a sleep after a good night.

Drinks were reasonably priced at the hotel, but we mainly ate out. Very close to a cheap and lovely bar, which offers 2 courses for 7 euros. We ate breakfasts there as well.

For sure attend a booze cruise - experience you will never forget!!!

Had an amazing week, so hope you will have it too!

Room Tip: Rooms on the left from the bar are not that hot as the other ones.

It is on the main strip of Kavos. But not on the Main Street. Still can be very noisy, but I guess you do not go for a family holiday in Kavos. Pool a bit small. Close to the Beach, but the water is dirty there, so it's better you rent a bike and go to fantastic beach to Agios Gordis, which is nearby. People are lovely everywhere. If you are going there for classy places, you will not find it there. It's all about the 18 year olds on holiday without parents. A lot of bike and car rentals nearby.

Room Tip: Upper floors have nice balconies.

Went Kavos in september 2012 there were three of us all girls and it was amazing recommend if you are going there to party. The room is basic and the cooking facilities are not fantastic but there is a bar (net bar) across the road from the odysseus which serves really good cheap food, in fact we ate there everyday, two courses for 7 euros and an english breakfast for 3 euros, cant beat it. also pop eyes kebab shop like 30 seconds away is amazing the woman is lovely, recommend before stumbling home!! the rooms were pretty clean and we had a cleaner in every other day but you do need to take a bath towel with you they are literally hand towels. We didnt have our bedding changed while we were there but we didnt care. also only one toilet roll is provided but we knew this and just took a toilet roll each with us.

Unfortunately kavos does not have drainage like in england and so all the bathroom waste gathers in a drain in the middle of the bathroom and so it can smell a bit but it didnt bother us that much as we didnt spend much time in the room. this is also why kavos smells in general as they have open drains but its not unbearable. we didnt notice it that much.

we didnt pay or the air conditioning but it was very hot at night, after a few days we got used to the heat and it wasnt to bad but it you dont sleep if your hot then i recommend getting it. the pool was fine and clean as a woman hosed is down every morning although many of the sunbeds were broken but not to a point where they cant actually be used. we never had a problem getting a sunbed due to the fact that people slept in till 2 in the afternoon to get over the night before.

the location to the beach and the clubs is fantastic and can reach your first bar in two minutes. due to how close it is you can hear music until 6am so it can be difficult to sleep but i didnt go to kavos to sleep! me and my friends were actually put in a room over the net bar across the road from the main hotel and so we could constantly hear car and bikes going past and also very drunk people which could be quite entertaining haha. if you are in the main hotel then you wont have a problem with this but if you are a light sleeper then good luck.

we paid to do everything with the reps and glad we did we had an amazing time however do not get sucked in to the'free bars' they offer. they are watered down, you can only get one drink at a time and it will take you ages to get served. not worth it!! you would be better off just tagging along with the reps until they they go into an exclusive bar at the end of the night (they will ask for a ticket). then just go to a different bar so you get the experience but without the price. i recommend the booze cruise it was epic. well worth it plus you go to a lovely beach on main land greece and they do a big bbq which is delish! the school disco is ok and the full moon party is over rated, it wasnt that good, it was packed, the beach is not nice and not worth paying for as i guarantee that after an hour of it starting you can just walk in.

when walking down the strip stay well clear of the gypsies, protect your pockets and hold on to your bags they will rob you!!! also you will get hassled at every single bar they want to get you in there, make good use of the deals deals they offer you e.g. two shots a cocktail and laughing gas for 5 euros = good times.

oh also if you dont like wasps and mosquitos then kavos is not the place for you.wasps were absolutely everywhere and at one point i got bombarded by trying to eat my breakfast but the bar staff at net bar said that it is not usually like this, definitely take mosquito repellent! the staff in general were all lovely!!

over all it was an amazing week and the rooms are fine. basically if you want a party holiday and just want to sleep, eat, sunbathe, drink and party then there is nothing wrong with the odysseus and i would definately go back.

(sorry this is so long!!!)

Room Tip: try not to be put in the rooms over the road, they are quite noisy!

Stayed here with my 3 girls on 31st August for one week and we loved it! Request the room right above the pool it's the best by far! The pool is fab always music playing loud and everyone at the bar really friendly. Make sure you pay for your sun beds aswel because they come round checking. So best food place to eat for breakfast was penny's! And for dinner got to be sizzlers! Also go to tkds and tex mex for dinner aswel they are fab. Go to the Greek shop next door for anything you need, and get some wine it's sooo cheap! Cocktails here in kavos are about 5 euros so take plenty of euros with you. And I wouldn't bother with safe box but defo get the air con it will save you at night! The beach is literally a 5minute walk, it was alright but not really good for sunbathing. We went on the pedalos and in the sea, put sun cream on! Go down the strip later on the eve when it gets busier otherwise it's quite quiet this time of year. And lastly do not go to the forum or the Greek restaurant as they are crap. But DO go to Kavos :D
