12 of us stayed here and it was the best hotel in kavos by far!!! staff there were brill and super fun and liked giving us free shots and cocktails!! food was amazing and all very cheap. we had the best time ever! we'd recommend buzz, 42nd street and maddisons down on the strip ALSO do the booze cruise with the 20's reps. it was the best!!! beware of the gypsies (especially the children ones they're the worst) they will try and steal your bags but shouting at them gets rid of them easily.

We went to Kavos as a group of 8 18 year old girls celebrating the end of A levels, and were prepared to take a hotel that was cheap and sacrifice luxuries so that we could have more spending money for alcohol! However while Olympion Village was cheap, it was easily the best hotel in Kavos! We had a few celebrities such as Wretch 32, Reggie Yates and others staying there while they were out to perform in some of the clubs, so its obviously a good choice! The hotel was absolutely spotless, with a restaurant open most all day for snacks, and in the evening a 2 course dinner of really tasty food was less than 6euros, and the menu was very varied! They have a bar thats open from7pm to 5am, which has happy hour from 10pm-1am, the drinks were still a bit more expensive than on the strip, but they tasted nicer, and quite often you'd get free drinks off the bar guys who offer to pour shots out the bottle down your throat! The rooms were really nice, they all had a balcony and were plenty big enough, the only downside is that the shower in our room wasnt particularly powerful yet flooded the bathroom quite easily, and wasnt hugely hot (although that wasnt a bad thing in 40 degree heat!) Apart from that they were lovely! The pool was absoluely massive and a lovely temperature and was always spotless, with loads of sunbeds we never struggled to get 8 together. All the staff were really friendly, we made friends with most of them and dont have a bad word to say about a single one of them. At our welcome meeting with our rep, she explained quite a few rules such as strict pool operating hours (so that it can be cleaned) no music after midnight, its the only hotel in kavos that wont let you bring non residents back to the hotel etc, and it struck us as a bit excessive, but you soon realise that that is what gives it the safe secure lovely atmosphere it had. Edmund the security guy was there all night, and used to have chats with us when we got back, get our keys for us etc, and as a result the hotel felt really safe as you knew exactly who was there, and that you were being looked out for, unlike others we met in other hotels who frequently got stuff stolen. Air con and the safe were both essential purchases, but very reasonably priced. It was in a perfect location, about a 2 minute walk from the middle of everything so far enough away that you could get an early night if you wanted it, but still very much easy walking distance. I'd advise you not to buy everything off your reps, its very tempting as they do a very good job of selling you their stuff, but our best nights out were the ones we did alone - we went on their bar crawl on our first night to familiarise ourselves but that was it, and i know a lot of people who booked it all then regretted it, although 'Trinity' (on a wednesday night) is meant to be good, but we didnt bother with that. Keep an eye out for posters as to whats on as we got tickets to a beach party where calvin harris was performing which was amazing, that the reps never even once mentioned. If you're not fussy about what you drink then you can get some amazing deals, most PRs are desperate to get you into their bars, and you can deals such as 1euro drinks all night, 50 cents a shot, 2 cocktails 2 shots and a fishbowl for 5euros etc etc - feel free to barter, we often did and you can quite often get some better deals out of it! The best bars were Rockys, 42nd street, Buzz, Maddisons, Snobs and Rolling Stone, in terms of clubs the only I'd reccomend is Atlantis which is a beach club so literally is just an outdoor club, right on the beach - its open the latest so everyone normally heads here after 4/5 when everything else closes - we sat and watched the sun rise on our last night and it was lovely! Its got free entry but the drinks are pricey so we used to drink more elsewhere and maybe have 1/2 in there. The other clubs werent as good and were expensive to get into, but the drinks were then cheaper/free on some nights. The only other thing to watch out for in Kavos is gypsies that send their kids over to sell you roses and glo sticks, and then pick pocket you when you least expect it... it happened alot so its best to ignore the emotional blackmail all together, and put your hand on your bag when they're around and they leave you alone.

In all we all agree it was easily the best holiday we've ever been on, and the best hotel in kavos... we only got back today and we're already thinking about returning and doing it all again next year!!!!

Room Tip: You dont really get a choice but the 3 we had were all lovely (studio appartments)

booked with a group of 12 friends for end of A levels and it was even better than my expectations! The rooms were lovely and roomy and cleaned everyday, the pool was very nice and big and the resturant was fab value for money with really friendly staff and good food! Close enough to the strip but we never heard any noise from it at night (may be also due to the fact we didnt get back till 6am every night!) Rooms were pretty basic but there wasn't anything that was missing really and we didnt spend much time in them. Would recommend face bar at the end of the strip for pre drinks (6 euro each for 3 fish bowls a shot and free bar for an hour!!) Saw other friends appartments and our was the best by far! 3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

Went here for a girlie holiday for a week at the start of June. First thing we noticed was how nice and clean the resort was. We had a bit of a problem with accommodation initially, but our rep was very good and sorted that out for us. We were surprised at how few guests were there but that was due to it being very early in the season for that resort.

Be aware that not many places take credit cards and those that do often have problems with the connection to put the transaction through. Also, if you do use your card they charge you an extra percentage on your purchase.

Good restaurants;
Golden Courser Chinese & Thai (don't take credit cards though)
Eve's Garden Restaurant (great 3 course meal and glass of wine for 9.90 euros)
Village Tavern (try the giant prawns)

The resort do charge you for sunbed cushions and a parasol, so for a week that can cost you another 25 euros for a week for 2 of you.

The bar lady Karen is absolutely lovely and so helpful. She is English but lives out there now. The other staff were also very helpful and spoke very good English.

There is a mini-mart on site, which is very handy, but very expensive. We bought a bottle of tonic water which was so obviously made in the UK as it had a label on it saying 49p and it cost us just under £1.40!

We had a good relaxing week, although the first 3 nights the music from the strip was very loud which you could still hear with the door and shutters closed and it goes on into the early hours of the morning. We didn't go to bed much before 2 and could still hear it when we went to bed.

It is quite a 'young' place to go, but there were families at our resort and a few others of our age (of which I won't reveal).

I travelled with my boyfriend and we are both in our early twentys and were looking for a cheap break away.

One thing i must warn you of are three things:
Mosquitos
Ants
Wasps

They may seem like not a big deal, however the mosquitos get you at night and evening, the wasps get you in the morning and afternoon! and the ants are in the hotel all the time! I REALLY recommend taking bite cream, sprays and plug-ins to protect yourself because it can ruin your holiday!

However, on arrival at Kavos airport the surrounding area looks quite rundown as most "non-resort" places look on the way to your destination. The transfer was near to 2 and a half hours which after a longish flight was annoying. However the bus did have a quick stop where you could grab a quick beer! which was great!

Olympian Village is very clean and beautiful in the evening with the pool lit-up against the night sky. The staff are wonderful and funny! We had a self catering apartment which wasnt that well equipt, having two rings, a toasty machine and kettle.

We were on top of a small incline and as the hotel is at a top of a small hill, down one of the sidestreets "off the stip" we thought it would be quite quiet. Especially since it was during the middle of September. It wasn't. However we didnt mind too much, but if this bothers you be warned! If you are looking to party till all hours then this place is great, its got all you could want - very similar to malia and zante! and its still busy with partyers in mid september!

The weather was beautiful in its late 20's early 30s! and a good time of year to go if you want to avoid school children!

Must recommend the Greek night at the hotel, greek dancers arrive, dance on fire, get you involved dancing and they lay on a fantastic spread of food! Also the trip to corfu town by night is great for fake designers and all you could want and some tradiational greek cuisine which we both tried!

All in all we had a great cheap break here (cheap being the word - meals at the hotel are 5.5 euros for two courses and most other places are similarily priced).

We wouldnt go again but could recommend for those who are on a budget, looking for some sun and for lads and girls holidays!

I would recommend the hotel but not really the resort for family and couples!

So we have just got back from a glorious week in kavos at the olympion. the holiday overall was awesome and we would definatly go back!

LOCATION

The hotel is a short walk up a gentle hill just off the main strip of kavos where all the major bars clubs and restaurants are located, it literally takes about 3-5 minutes to walk it. its in a really pretty area, lots of trees and typical greek style buildings. the bus stop that gets you to all the other major places in corfu is at the bottom at the hill and the beach is a short walk from that. even though the hotel is really close to the action, becuase its up the hill you cant hear any noise from your rooms so if you want an early night you can easily have one.

ROOMS

The rooms are really nice, modern, basic and clean. the self catering facilities are minimal, e.g we didnt even get a tin opener but thats really the only grumble. the only other thing you might want to be prepared for is that the air con is an additional 45 euros a week, but really worth it! greece gets majorly hot lol and from a girls point of view, when your getting ready for a night out and you have hairdryers going, its a god send! beds arnt majorly comfy, neither are the pillows, but from the sounds of it, thats typical of all greek hotels, unless you want to pay thousands for a five star. for the money, the olympion is excellent value.

THE HOTEL

overall the hotel is really nice, there is a pool side snack bar/ restaurant thats open all day from breakfast to evenng meals. the ladies that work there are lovely and always call you darling, the greeks are so friendly! the food is affordable and again, for what you pay, you get a really good deal. the cocktails are pretty good too!
at nightime, the main bar opens and stays open til the last person goes to bed :p
reception staff are a bit hit and miss, there were about 4 different people at various different times when we stayed there, 2 were lovely, 2 were a little rude, but on the whole the staff at the hotel were lovely and couldnt do enough for you.
the pool is sunny all day and theres plently of sunloungers to go round. you dont get people reserving sun beds at 6am either!!!

BAR CRAWLS/ PUBS/ CLUBS

your tour operator will offer you a range of excursions including, bar crawls, booze cruises etc but if you go down onto the strip you will find them a lot cheaper with the independant operators. dont pay for the bar crawls, they are a complete scam! lol and the booze cruise is full of 18 year olds, or younger, which is great if your younger but we are 23 so felt proper old lol the good bars are 42nd, roadblock and rockys. the club (future and atlantis) is not worth the money and despite needing a wristband to get in you can get it off the beach and no one will even bat an eye lid!

EATING OUT

we stayed in kavos for a week and found probobly 2 good places to eat, one was desperados and the other was terrys taverna, fish them out, they ate gorgous! and make sure you try some greek salad, it is delish.

MUST DO'S

corfu town- its proper traditional greek culture, an hour from kavos, but really worth it. aqualand is awesome too.

AGE GUIDE

most of the people in kavos, we found were 17-21, just to give you a heads up.

all in all, awesome holiday, i would defiantly recommend the hotel!!!

Me and 7 friends began looking for a holiday in november 2009 to book for july 2010 as a celebration after our a level exams had finished. We knew that we wanted to go to Kavos in Corfu and so looked at several brochures for different accomodation. We came across Olympian Village and we instantly thought it looked and sounded the nicest place to stay in Kavos. We booked through a Thomson travel agents and they price matched our quote from the internet. We found that the internet price was changing everyday so when we found a good price we took it to the travel agents. We flew from our local airport, Doncaster, which couldnt have been any easier. At Corfu airport we were met by a thomson rep who showed us to the transfer bus which was about 1 hour and 15 mins but was quite nice to see Corfu as we knew this would be the only part we saw, apart from Kavos!

Arriving at Olympion Village we met our rep Kirsty and she showed us to reception, we had to pay 45euros per week for air con but we thought this was a fair price as we had got such a good deal on the holiday. safety deposit boxes were 15 euors but well worth it.

Our first impressions of Olympion Village were fantastic, we had high expectations from the brochure and in reality our first impressions exceeded our expectations. The receptionist showed us to our rooms which were 2 2 bedroom apartments, very clean spacious and modern, each room had a TV, not that we had time to watch anything! The kitchen and showeroom had everything we needed and were also very clean and tidy. Each bedroom also had a balcony which were more than big enough.

After reading previous reviews about Olympion Village we were prepared to hire towels but we found that this was not the case. The bed sheets and towels were changed twice a week and apartments cleaned everyday apart from sunday.

We attended the welcome meeting where our rep Kirsty, who was also a twentys rep told us of all the events etc and clearly outlined the hotels rules which i thought was very good, as there are fines for misbehaving which is perfectly acceptable. We booked several nights out and a boat trip with Kirsty which allowed us to get a good deal, there was loads of things to do!

The pool area again was very clean and spacious, lots of sunbeds. The restaurant served very good food at a good price. All the staff were very helpful and friendly and there was a security guard around every night.

Olympion Village is situated up a slight hill a couple of minutes walk off the strip which was a perfect location because it meant if we wanted to sleep we werent disturbed by the noise of the strip but it wasnt far a way either.

There are lots of different restaurants in Kavos catering for everyone, we ate out most nights and were spoilt for choice. They are also all good value and drinks prices are good value too.

Comparing Olympion Village to the other types of accomodation we saw in Kavos i would without a doubt say that it is the best!!
This holiday is perfect for the 18 -30 range but i wouldnt recommend it for families with young children as most of the people who stay in the hotel are 18 - 25.

I couldnt have asked for anything better for a first holiday with 8 girls. We had the best time ever, which was made better by the fantastic accomodation and staff of Olympion Village, i cannot praise it enough. Thankyou!
