“Filoxenia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

We booked this hotel last minute at the end of June having read the excellent reviews. The apartment, pool area and the grounds were spotlessly clean. The family were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We ate here several times during our stay as we enjoyed the traditional Greek food and the BBQ on the Saturday night was very good value. There are also a few bars and restaurants within walking distance and a frequent bus service to Rhodes Town which was reasonably priced with the bus stop just outside the hotel. We had a great holiday and if we return to Rhodes we would certainly go back to this hotel

My boyfriend and I have just returned after a week at the Filoxenia, and I can honestly say it is the best hotel I have ever stayed in! First of all I will mention the resort - We spent our first week in Pefkos, and were worried about how quiet it would be in Tholos for our second week. Tholos is a very quiet resort, there were maybe 3 or 4 restaurants, and the same amount of bars. We often went to a nice cocktail bar called Me Gusta, however it was often quiet - I think this is to do with the fact there is a huge all inclusive hotel called the Doreta Beach directly opposite, and it seems it has affected the whole resort.
We are a couple in our mid 20s, and personally I would recommend Tholos to those who are looking for a quiet holiday, but not for groups of girls/boys!
The hotel – this is such a wonderful hotel, I would return to Tholos for this reason alone!
When we arrived to the Filoxenia we were greeted by Nikos and Panos (father and son), and they were very friendly from the moment we arrived. The hotel is impressive to look at, with the two pools and the olive trees. We were taken to our room (we were lucky enough to have a sea view) which was lovely – usually greek apartments are basic which is fine but this was above standard. At this hotel you will get to see some amazing sunsets from your balcony!
The first night we ate at the restaurant, and we went back every night after that as the food was absolutely delicious!! You can tell its all homemade, and the bbq on the Saturday is definitely worth going to – I think it was around 12 euros each, but there was so much food! The family also use a lot of the herbs from the gardens in their food, and all the olive oil is home made (also grandma’s homemade liquer, we brought home 3 bottles of it!) which is a nice touch.
Even though this hotel is near a road it is not noticeable, and it is also not bad considering it is in the flight path.
The pool area is great also, plenty of sunbeds and very clean (this hotel is spotlessly clean throughout!).
This family work so hard and always have a smile on their faces, despite the long hours they work. I cannot thank them enough for our wonderful stay here, I actually had some tears when I left! Such lovely people, we had lots of late night chats as they are all great conversationalists also!!
I would also recommend hiring a car, as tholos is very close to rhodes town, ancient kamieros and butterfly valley - it's also worth driving to the east coast to see lindos and south to prasonisi.
Last but certainly not least, the family’s dog! If you are a dog lover it will be impossible for you not to love her!
Thank you so much filoxenia family for such a wonderful stay!

My boyfriend and I returned from Rhodes last weekend after, spending a week at Filoxenia.
From the warm welcome we received, right through to the sad good-bye, it was wonderful.
Nicos, Evangelia and their 2 sons made us feel at home straight away. We arrived late on the Saturday just as their barbecue night was coming to an end. However preparing us a meal and drinks was no problem and the food was delicious and throughout the holiday.
This family work so hard but make it look so easy to make your stay happy!
The rooms were spotless and the gardens and pools immaculate. Evangelia takes a special interest in the herbs and fruits which are grown and used in their recipes, they also make their own olive oil which is served with your meal and we brought a bottle to take home.
It is only 13 euros from the airport but there is also a regular bus at only 2.20 (2.80 to Rhodes Town)
You can see the sea from the hotel and it is a short walk to the beach and the handful of pleasant bars, tavernas and supermarkets. We really liked Billys Bar and the ever smiling waiter Manos!
Up into the old village we visited a pretty taverna Drosia in a pergola covered little square where we were well looked after...beware the portions are huge!
We did visit Rhodes Town one evening and the old town was amazing but the hustle & bustle made us want to get back to the relaxing atmosphere of Feloxenia
The owners friendliness and warmth is catching and spreads around the complex.
Everyone we met while we was there was genuinely friendly and helpful which made our stay so special.
We will definitely be back, we cant wait!

Room Tip: We were in room 23 with a large wrap-a-round balcony with a lovely view

Arrived here mid afternoon on Wednesday 10th of July we were greeted by the owners son who was very friendly and helped us carry our bags into our room. Our first impression were 10/10 and the hotel was exactly as it said on the website and on here. Our room was spotless and the best self catering we have ever been to. As we are coming to the end of our stay I decided to take full advantage of the free wifi and write this review. The positive comments on trip advisor are spot on and this hotel really doesn't compare to any in the town( especially after talking to other holiday makers). The family whom run the hotel really do go out of their way to make your stay a positive experience and I couldn't recommend the place enough. Without any hesitation I would re-book this place and am very pleased to see that they have received an award of excellence from trip advisor itself. Would definitely return if not just for the beautiful olive oil! If you were to visit the area and passed up on this hotel I highly recommend popping in for a meal or a bottle of their home made olive oil.

Hi just returned from 1 week at filoxenia in tholos rhodes. This is a family run apartments who are the most freindly and helpful from the moment you arrive till they carry your bags to the bus when you leave.
Tholos as a resort was disapointing not picturesque very few taverners, but there are two exellent ones in theologos village well worth the walk, back to filoxenia...the rooms are very clean and kept so, even give you loo rolls unheard of in greece when ive been before.the premises serve exellent food all day everyday check out the specials , sat night is bbq night best value 13 euros for alot of food, filoxenia is alittle gem that for a last minute booking on internet , i could not fault .
We had a exellent time ,we would return here to use it as a base and get a car to see the island..

Room Tip: Room 37 had exellent views to sea ,when clear you can see turkish mountains beautiful

We arrived at the hotel on the 20th June and we stayed for 2 weeks. On arrival we were shown to our room, which was on the second floor. Having inflammatory arthritis I found the stairs difficult. I did mention this to Mikhail (who had shown us to the room). He contacted his father and we were given a room on the ground floor straight away. We had originally planned to eat out occasionally, but to also prepare our own meals and snacks. The room we were in had ample facilities to do so. However, after eating at the hotel the first night, all plans of cooking went out of the window and the fridge was only used for storing water. The food at the hotel is amazing. And also plentiful, with a complimentary pudding and grandmother's liqueur.
Our room was cleaned daily and fresh towels and linen provided. The grounds are immaculately maintained and the pools were very clean and inviting. There is a good bus connection to the airport and to Rhodes Town. The local beach is stony, so beach shoes are recommended. The memories of this holiday will stay with us for a long time. Thank you Evangelina, Nicos, Panos and Mikhail. We will be back.

This was a last minute 14 night holiday for me and I'm so pleased I chose this hotel. I'd read reviews that it was a family-run business and that the food was great traditional Greek cuisine but that was an understatement. The family (Nicos and Evangelina and their sons Panos and Mikhail) are a lovely welcoming family. They are warm, kind, friendly, cheerful and helpful. They will do anything to make sure you have a lovely and relaxing holiday. They genuinely want you to be happy and to enjoy yourself.
The facilities are excellent (the apartment and swimming pools etc.). The food was proper authentic traditional Greek cuisine - delicious (expecially the Saturday night barbecue and the grandmother's homemade pomegranate liquor).
This is the best hotel I've ever stayed at in my life and in my eyes it's a 5 star hotel.
