Taxi from airport 12 euros 6 mins away dont bother with transfers. As for the room we stayed on the 4th floor which was superb, cleaned every day fresh towels and sheets but this is standard for all floors even the ones that have not been done out. Floor G, 1 and 2 are bogging!! We spoke to many couples who stayed in these and most said air conditioning did not work, they were smelly insects in some.. basically not good. If you get a key when you check in your in one of the bad ones.. we arrived at 4:30am tired and ready for a fight if we got one but luckily enough, and thats all it is luck as we paid no extra for a superior room, which again is annoying for those who did,, why should some people pay more than others? strange but i did not complain about that. Ok so the food, for an all inclusive hotel it was not as bad as some I have stayed in, we ate everyday and never went hungry, ok there was no michellin stars but it was quite good, plenty to choose from. the pool is big but very deep. We wnt with our two boys of which one (little Alfie was 6 months and the fact there is a cooling breeze all the time makes it a lot more bearable. We went into Rhodes town one day on the bus, 2.5 euros each way per person, about 30 mins away and bus air conditioned. Tholos itself was pretty desolate but thats what we wanted from the Holiday. Ok the sunbeds this is funny. As we have a little baby we were often up quite early so we would get up to get our beds, most beds were taken as of 6:30am !!!!!!!!!! but on the last 2 days of the holiday the management put up some posters stating you can not reserver beds. After this was put up the pool groundstaff went around each morning taking off the towels and sticking the on a pile. So some people were coming out to find other people sitting in the spot the got at 6:30.. Never know a place were people claim them that early.. ridicuous especially when some families reserved far nore beds than they needed and didnt even use them for most of the day. Right next entertainment, Our eldest son went into kids club which was good, the night shows one word for it strange and often innapropriate grown men slapping each other with towels?? there was shows on every night apart from Wednesday though and a kids disco the team did work hard to please the kids..
Oh yeah no gym or Spa either

all in all good holiday met some nice people.. Rhodes nice and look out for the jobs worthy life guard.. award for the worst and driest life guard ever goes to Mr Doreta Beach Lifeguard

My wife wont let me book anything without looking at trip advisor and when we booked the comments for this hotel were good/very good. So we booked it and thought we had a good decent hotel and great for a relaxing week.
We booked it as a 5 star all inclusive spa and resort. Well its not !
Airport transfer - easy and straightfoward 12 euros and takes 10 minutes.
First impressions of outside hotel are its shabby.
The entrance and main area is clean but nothing special and check in was quite easy.
As others have said 3rd and 4th floor are better rooms and we were not in them. We booked a room for 3 adults and it was just a basic Greek standard room, no frills, TV worked if switched on with a pen nib. Bathroom a touch shabby and smelly at times.
We were going to complain and try and get a move but to what. Looking around throughout our stay we thought we were quite lucky. Balcony that looked out onto sea and pool. Not overlooked and a fantastic view. Some rooms have a view overlooking the corridor we walked down, some onto parts of the hotel. We thought we had struck lucky with the view if nothing else.
The thing with the 3rd and 4th floors is they were still going to eat in the canteen. Food was poor in my opinion, There was enough of it but not really of any quality. Breakfast shuts at 9.30 and the usual fare. That was as expected but night time dinner was not of any stanadard. You can get in the place at night, with long shorts over the knee which is fair enough. The main entertainment area sat in once and was boiling so stayed at the poolside bar each night and the guys serving there were top class and well recommended, Beach is ok, sea great, takes some swim shoes as stones are a nightmare trying to get into the sea, almost impossible with bare feet. Pool side was very good and if you are up early enough there are sunbeds a plenty. The sprinklers come on about 7.30 am so your towels will be wet if you leave them to reserve the beds.
If you are a family on a budget with kids who want to eat and drink all the time, well its fine. If you go with a low expectation well you wont be upset. If you think you will be living in a 5 star resort for a week well forget it - forgot to add internet is 1 euro for 10 mins very expensive, internet cafe over the road outside.

Subject: Doreta Beach HotelLocation: Tholos, Rhodes, Dodecanese, Greece, EuropeTitle: Excellent highly recommendID#: 34294888 went 1 - 8 July 2009 paid £1058.60 for 2 room, 4 adults. £820 flights from Gatwick. Parking £42.43 10 mins from airport and courtesy coach. Take own food £2 for tiniest drink £3 for chocolate, no films/music. Car hire cheaper to book from UK £234, Promotion code discount [--]. Hotel is 10 mins from Rhodes airport along a straight peaceful road. Hotel can easily be missed stands back from road look for large hotel, next tAlex beach Hotel, opposite some shops and if you pass large red and white chimney you have gone too far. Not necessary to hire a car - taxi is 12 - 15 Euro from airport. Hotel put us in older accomodation on level 2 with key. After reading other peoples comments prayed to Jesus and asked for upgrade they said it will cost you 7 euros a day and no free upgrade. I replied we have paid a lot of money and this is not 5 star and if they do not upgrade I will write a bad report on trip advisor. A free upgrade then became available the next day. Upgraded to 4th Floor - bath and separate shower cubicle shower, climate control aircon and heating, fridge and LCD TV in English only BBC news and american news. Restaurant fabulous food wide variety lots of meat of different kinds available, lots of delicious sweets available. Asked the maitre D if we could pack some for going home journey and he even gave some foil to wrap them and picked up my water bottle top when I was filling my bottle. Shampoo and bathfaom provided. Lots of sun beds. Entertainment good Greek night with singing and dancing and getting people up. Good Fakir show with man blowing fire and sword swallowing and getting people to stand on him on a bed of nails and much more. good food available at pool side and icecream of different flavours wine etc. Hotel has lifts and several pools which there is an arched bridge to cross to get to the beach lots of shade and trees before the beach with more sunbeds. Good cool wind blowing and petrol cheapest around the hotel rather than Rhods and Lindos. Rhodes fabulous place to visis. Lindos down steep hill, lindos castle up a steep hill from the square only accessible by foot .and no parking at the square. 10 mins walk down to square so only visit if you are fit. Local bus can be taken to th square but can get crowded. Happy Holiday.

We booked this hotel for the advertised spa facilities and the 4* rating. Upon arrival we were put into a room on the 2nd floor which was absolutely appalling. We then had to pay an additional 84 Euros to be upgraded to a superior room on the 4th floor. It certainly worth paying the extra (though you shouldn't have to). The difference was like staying in two completely different hotels.

There's only a few supermarkets / souvenir type shops near the hotel, other than that there is little, if nothing, to do or see locally.

The bar staff were excellent and the service was very good, though they played the same three CDs EVERY night. Very repetitive! Other than the service at the pool bar there is very little positive to say about this hotel. I certainly wouldn't recomend it to any of our friends or family.

We booked this hotel expecting a gym and jacuzzi so was a bit dissapointed to find they were not ready. We had originally booked a standard room but after reading the reviews we upgraded to a superior room, was glad we did as it was spotless. The food was ok, a bit reapeatative but we always found something we liked, so no need to go hungry. The bar staff were excellent and friendly. It is advertised as a 5 star hotel but it is more like a 3/4 star. The weather was lovely and there was a constant breeze so was comfortable and didn't get too hot. Would go there again
