We have just returned from this hotel and had a lovely relaxing week, the food we had was very fresh and nice the room was cleaned daily and clean towels and all the staff were very friendly.
It was close to the airport with the planes flying over but you got used to it and was not a problem and the bus to the Airport and Rhodes town was few mins walk and a good service.

The only down side we found that the all inc drinks did not start till 11 30 we felt 10 30 would have been better but for the price we paid we just bought a drink we would go back again as it was a very relaxing and pleasant week

Stayed here in September 2011.

Only about a 10 minute transfer from the airport - don't prebook transport to hotel - this cost us £67 (for the return journey) and we certainly felt ripped off by this. As the hotel is so close to the airport, you do get aircraft flying overhead. This did not bother us but may some people.

Hotel is about a two minute stroll from a stony beach. Didn't swim there as it was quite rough, but the sunsets were amazing!! Well worth going down for those.

Very friendly welcome at the hotel. Hotel in general nice and clean and rooms were tided every day. I think the only minor gripe would be that the pool was not cleaned daily - the sunbed area was cleaned daily but the pool did need a bit of a clean.

Food was fine - there was a good choice for all three meals. No snacks during the day though - bit disappointing when you're all inclusive. All inclusive times ran from 1030 to 2200. In general no complaints about that but they did run out of red wine (and white!!) on a couple of occasions - not sure whether this was due to it being the end of the season or not.
However, I would recommend eating off the regular menu - the food that came out was amazing - plus we got a free pudding!! And the cost was very reasonable.

There are a couple of restaurants within a few minutes walk of the hotel - both serve excellent food and well worth a visit.

Would be wary about booking some of the trips - we booked one that included a visit to Lindos - unfortunately this didn't happen. We were "lumped" together with a different island tour - and did not find this out until we were about halfway through the tour when it was too late to cancel!! We did get a 10 euro compensation payment - which we accepted as we were only there for a week - but that did not compensate for the fact the we did not get what we had paid for.

In general I would say that the hotel is well worth the money - and I would be happy to come back here again.

My fiancé and I stayed at the Aterias for 10 days in mid September. Some booking sites call it Asterias, some call it Asterias Beach - its the same place. We have just turned 30 and were looking for a relaxing, quiet holiday which I'm delighted to say we found. The hotel is small, friendly and a pleasant place to be. While the interior decor is slightly dated the whole place was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and courteous. The bathrooms were on the small side but were still perfectly functional. The pool was modestly sized but clean enough and more than adequate

I'll mention the food although this is such an individual thing I would always take it with a pinch of salt in a review. We found it to be very good and there was a nice choice. If i were being hypercritical I'd look for slightly more choice of starters but the salads prepared were so good that we didn't get bored of them for the whole stay. Hot courses generally consisted of one or two meat dishes, a fish and a veggie alternative. Most of the food was very tasty and well cooked. The highlight was Saturday's "Greek night" where the mousakka was superb. If you like local, fresh food and are willing to give things a try you won't be disappointed. If you have more conservative tastes you'll find something to eat but it might be a little more limited. Breakfast was basic continental fayre but kept us full until lunch

The all inclusive had limitations but from what i can gather this is pretty common of hotels in this modest price range. I didn't feel at any time that my drinks had been watered down as some people have commented. 10pm was a fairly early finish for the free stuff but other drinks were cheap enough and there were bars within easy walking distance in the town. The bar was friendly and busy but I’d hesitate to call it lively

Tholos itself is really two places. The tourist area runs down the main road. There are a few bars and eateries and the usual tourist supermarkets alongside a handful of other hotels. It’s pretty uninspiring but does a job. Tholos “old town” is up in the hills and is small, quiet and beautiful. There are one or two bars and a lovely, inexpensive restaurant that comes highly recommended despite the all inclusive package. Its a long walk though so pick a cooler evening!

Other things to note: the bus from the airport stops outside the hotel and is 2 Euros per person each way. Bus drivers prefer correct change and can get grumpy if you don’t have it! Taxis are 13 Euros and holiday transfers are extortionate so don’t book them! Rhodes Town is accessible by bus and well worth a visit. The Valley of Butterflies is worth a look and Lindos is a must although both are easier if you hire a car. Our hire car was 30 Euros for the day plus fuel. We took bikes to the butterfly valley and despite being a very keen biker the trip there was long and hot – only try it if you are fit! Oh and the hotel is on a flight path. This didn’t bother us at all but might upset some

In summary we had a great stay. We won’t return to Rhodes immediately as it is a small island but there was plenty to keep us occupied for the duration of our stay and there is some stunning scenery and architecture. We would certainly recommend Rhodes and the Asterias to friends and were we to return it is the first place we would look to stay

this hotel lived up to the reviws and expectations. The food was good and the hotel was very clean. The bar,run by Xen was efficient and the shorts and cocktails ,from 6.30 till 10pm were plentyfull. The hotel is only a 10 minute ride from the airport but is a little quiet, which suited us.It is a good familly or older couples resort as it advertised and is not the place for a noisy ,lively, late night hotel. The beaches are full of pebbles but are good as the sunbeds are free and there always seems to be a breeze neer the sea.The bus service to Rhodes town is chaotic and deserves a mention as the drivers go through villages with narrow streets at speed and seem to miss obsticles by inches. The people we met at the hotel were fantastic and the atmosphere was superb. All things weighed up we had a great holiday and would certainly recommend this hotel for a good holiday .one thing we must mention is that this hotel is on the flight path and can be noisy although this did not spoil our holiday at all.

Room Tip: all rooms are cleaqn and good standard with ample room and a tv

I know the hotel will now be closed for this season, but I hope my review will be of some use for next season (either by the hotel owners or prospective guests). Yes, we had a really nice holiday staying at Hotel Asterias Beach. A small, family run hotel which is very clean and friendly. The food was good, but quite repetitious. We didn't expect a full English breakfast, but a toaster would have been very much appreciated. There were just a few things that could have improved our holiday experience, eg we knew the all inclusive didn't start until 11.00 am, but we would have expected to have had more choice at that time. There were no spirits or cocktails available until after 6.30 pm and the all inclusive bar closed at 10.00 pm! Whilst we were tucked up in bed, we could hear nearby hotels enjoying themselves until well into the early hours, so we felt like the naughty school children who were sent to bed early! I think, air conditioning, at 7 Euros PER NIGHT is a little bit too much to add on to an all inclusive holiday as an extra. The hotel is on the outgoing flight path, so you will be woken up when you are least expecting it! Ladies, please take note, there is no hairdryer available so you will need to take your own. The pool, is only cleaned once per week, unless you use the net and clean it yourself. I'm sorry if I have sounded a little negative, but I've told it as I found it - over all, we did have a very nice holiday!

Room Tip: Avoid the basement like the plague!

Having read the reviews for thsi hotel, I was a little concerned, however the hotel was very clean, the food was fresh and home cooked, with plenty of variety. I would love to visit again.

Every hotel has it's ups and downs. This is no exception.

This hotel is clean, the staff are (mostly) friendly, particularly Xen and the receptionist and the food is fresh, tasty and plentiful. Some people moaned about the food but it's a personal preference so has little value in this review.

The pool is clean, there are enough sun beds and chairs (although these and reserved well before sunrise!) to cater for the guests.

Rooms are adequate, we had a sea view which was nice, you can also see Turkey from the hotel. Took a few days to get used to the no bog roll down the pan rule! Sorry.

Location wise it's a five minute taxi ride from the airport and close to the bus stop. There are a few shops and bars along the road which are friendly and reasonably priced.

If you do head out for the day, the hotel will provide a packed lunch for you to take with you. Just have a chat with reception the day before.

On a negative side, the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, you will need to hire a car or be prepared for busy, hot and occasionally scary bus journeys into Rhodes town. We did this twice and on 2 occasions were involved in either a crash (bus v taxi) or the driver kicking off with another road user!

The all inclusive is very limited. Beer / wine / soft drinks from 11.30 - 22.00, some spirits from 18.30 - 22.00 but all free drink is watered down beyond recognition. €3 for a Mythos is my tip.

The hotel, along with all the others in the area, are on the outbound flight path of the airport, this is an issue at night if you don't want to pay €7 per day for air con.

We were very disappointed with the beach, it was filthy and very stony.

Overall a great hotel in a quiet area. If you want action and plenty of activity, look elsewhere. For a quiet relaxing week, this is one to seriously consider.

Room Tip: All rooms are similar, sea views available from most.
