“Peaceful, beautiful, friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Our family of four really enjoyed our stay with Thiwson. So the pro's: Our two small kids age two and four loved hunting crabs in the mud banks at low tide and to play in the water at medium tide. The adults liked swimming at high tide and the gorgeous views of the bay. And the food. Having traveled most of Thailand and eaten more than 1000 tom yam goong, the ones they make at Thiwson are definitely in top three. In fact, I particularly liked the tom yam pra - the vegetable version. The staff were very friendly, in particular the owner who was admirably patient and caring. So I don't agree with the previous review, but staff changes every year, so that might be one reason.

The downsides might be remoteness, the muddiness of the sand at low tide, the breakfast (but at home I would find toast, omelet and mango shake delicious, and the coffee is good), the sometimes slow food service (but hey, good food takes time). Only thing really missing is a pool and here's the thing: They're building one this low season (2013).

You almost don't have to, but if you also consider the price, this is tremendous value.

Room Tip: Front row and second row are the best values. B1 is not a bamboo bungalow, but spacious and with one...

This review is about the restaurant.

My wife and I visited this restaurant in the summer. We stayed at a nearby resort and decided to arrange a taxi from our resort to Thiw Son Beach Resort.

The restaurant is nice, the food was delicious and our meal was at a good price. We also rented a scooter at the desk for a whole day.

My wife and I stayed here in January, 2013. I booked on the Internet. When we arrived, they upgraded us to the beach front cabins at no extra charge. They provided scooters for rent that we cruised around the entire island on, good fun. I liked that they were coordinated enough to charge everything to the room bill, so we never had to worry about paying for meals and rentals until we were ready to go. The staff is friendly but their English is basic but what would you expect from such a remote place?

Overall, great place.

Room Tip: The more expensive beach front rooms are nice. I cannot comment on the others.

My partner and I stayed for 4 nights in a fan room. For the money, it was definately worth it. The place has a very beautiful view. The main complaint that i have is the manager- He was really rude the whole time we stayed there. He wouldn't want to help with any questions and when I asked him for assistance, he would procastinate until he very reluctantly gave it. The room was supposed to be cleaned every second day and when we asked, he looked and laughed at me then said tomorrow, when tomorrow came, i asked when he was going to clean the room because the bins were over flowing,he said- later. It did get done but you shouldnt have do deal with people like this, it did not make us feel very welcome. If we didnt encounter this rudeness, Im sure that our stay would have had no complaints and we would have enjoyed ourselves more.

Customer service needs to be looked at because i will not be recommending this place to my family.

We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed the friendly and dedicated service.
The wooden huts are very cosy and meals in the restaurant were all super delicious!!

A bungalow with AC is recommended as it is hot at night.

We were attracted to Tiewson because of it's beach huts & we weren't disappointed. Great huts metres from the beach. You know before you visit that it's not the best beach on the island for swimming but when the tide is high that's not a problem. Also, in our case, it's good to have an excuse to rent bikes and explore the rest of this beautiful & less visited island. Even if the tide is low you can just lie back on the sunbeds provided and enjoy the scenery in this blissful part of the planet. Excellent service, delicious food and friendly staff. If you could hang your hammock on the porch of your hut you may never want to leave (but you can't hang your hammock).
