“Nice, quiet place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

This is a gerat place to stay in Riung. The bungalows are nice and clean, basic outdoor bathrooms, with mandi style cold shower, and a fan inside. It's so hot you don't really need hot water... breakfast is included, and coffee or tea is always offered. The price (150 000 Rp) is normal for Flores, and the atmosphere and people there are great. Tam, the owner is very helpful to give information about the town, ongoing journeys, and can organize trips to the 17 Islands as well. The island trip is great with a fantastic lunch of grilled fish and other local dishes.
I have read about the thefts, and luckily we did not experience it. Tam and the staff ask you to lock all of the windows and doors, and make sure of your belongings to help avoid such things from happening.
We stayed for 3 great, relaxing nights, and highly recommend Nirvana.

Basic bungalows with a little terrasse. We paid 150.000 IDR a night. There is no hot water but you don't really need it anyway. Tom, the chilled-out owner is very friendly and helpful and speaks really good English. He likes to have a chat with the guests. They had a few problems with stealing before so he is very careful now constantly reminding us to lock our room when we leave and to keep the outside light on during the night. There are reinforced locks on the windows and the door. We didn't have any issue during our 4 nights stay. Breakfast is included but not great. On the other hand, they provide you with free tea and good coffee througout the day.

Heard about the stealing and evertything too in the bungalow, thats why the owner and the staff always remind us to lock the main door and the bathroom. But in the other hands, this place is awesome. Pretty basic but what can u ask more in Flores? clean room, pretty cheap and warm athmosphere. They also provide the trip to national park and kalong island which is amazing. The lunch on the beach was the best. Fresh fish grilled on the beach and the sambal was delicious. Despite the basic accomodation, the service is excellent.

The room seemed to be prepared for the stealing which occured during the night
1. There were holes in the walls to check when guests are asleep - they have been made from inside
2. The mosquito net neatly tucked beneath the mattress - but explicitly left outside next to pillow to allow reaching valuables inside from beneath the bed
3. Latch at the door was not possible to close

We heard that other travelers had their valuables stolen here as well.

Room Tip: Do NOT take one of the bungalows in the middle - they seem to be prepared for stealing

These are nice, clean bungalows in Riung. Nice and private with mosquito nets. This is a good place to stay when you are passing through Riung. They even went and got beer for us, which was really cool.

Nirvana Bungalows are clean, quiet, and the property has a good atmosphere. The owner, Tam, is extremely helpful, informative, and nice. The staff are nice as well, and sporatic dinners are delicious!

With 7 bungalows Nirvana is a good place away from the awful noise of the power generator.
It is the further and as a very ligth sleeper I can tell that in Nirvana you will have a good night sleep. The bungalow are not near the sea. Anyway there is only mangrove near the sea but if you rent a boat (350 000Rp. Adam was our captain) and go to the seventeen island marine park (15 000Rp/p + 20 000Rp for the boat), you will have a nice beach for you and a very good snorkling with coral all shade of blue and gold. Barbecue fishon the beach is 50 000Rp/p (order the nigth before).
Bungalow are 150 000Rp (cold water) with ok breakfast (local bread and coffee/tea)
Tam, the owner speak a good english and is a very nice guy. The snorkling gear he rent are good quality (25 000Rp).
After the awful bus Bajawa/Riung, we rent a car Riung/Moni (1 000 000Rp)

Room Tip: No AC but no noise from the power generator (6pm till 6am every day and 6pm till midday on sunday)
