“Wonderful Weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

Just had a wonderful weekend in Pennal, stayed at Brynawel, which Glyn and Corina run together with Riverside. The room was light, airy and extremely comfortable with all needs catered for, the breakfasts were delicious as were the excellent evening meals . Glyn and Corina are professionals with much experience in the hotel/catering industry and they have passed their knowledge to their friendly staff. Both establishments are very well run, nothing is too much trouble and we have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who fancies a lovely relaxing break within a short car ride of Aberdovey.

“lovely evening, great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

We went to the riverside while on holiday in Pennal on a rare night out while grandparents looked after the kids. Booked table same day, could only fit us in at 8:30 but that was fine for us, very busy when we arrive but sat at the bar for 15 mins where our order was taken so starter arrived soon after we sat down. Main courses were salmon with asparagus and sweet potato and duck in plum sauce which my wife described as amazing. Starter and main fine for me and a coffee to finish but my wife opted for bread and butter pudding, the size of half a house brick which defeated her! All in all not cheap (£60) for two including a bottle of wine but we both thought about right for quality and service, would definitely visit again

“Good Quality Well Presented Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

A very popular and good value restaurant with an emphasis on fish dishes- make sure you book well in advance or you may be disappointed.

“well worth the drive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

I have a restaurant myself,I thought the food was very good, fast, fresh. It was very busy,as it was main holiday time. They had it all under control. It was lovely for us to go somewhere where for a change someone could cook for us,that we enjoyed. We have been in business for a very long time,I take my hat off to them, well done.. .only one little pick, steaks should come with mushrooms, but it still was lovely.Walkers

“Excellent!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

Sunday lunch!
Have been calling here for 30 years it used to be great when run by Colin but for the last few years it has not maintained that standard.
The place is now quite contemporary & is bright inside but it still has character, place is very clean & tidy & the welcome is warm.
Sunday lunch was indeed excellent, started with the Haddock fishcakes, generous size & very tasty.
Followed with the roast beef, great choice very tender & tasty.
The better half had a sweet, treacle & orange tart which was superb.
We will certainly visit again excellent food & excellent value.
