I started with the bus close to Santiago Airport this morning, took the bus via Lugo to Sarría. This was the reason why I started much later than usually on the Camino - and why I arrived really late at around 7:00 pm in Portomarín ... at the entry of the town, after the stairs leading into town I met a men who told me a lot of nonsense how to find this hotel. Why aren't there any signs to guide you to your place? Finally I reached the bar / restaurant of the hostel. It was completely empty, what confused me a lot - at this time, Saturday evening, all the bars are fully packed with pilgrims, why not this one? The daughter of the owner, perhaps 12 years old, was the only human being - and of course she cared more about the cartoon movie on the bar TV screen and other kids outside on the street, than about a tired, thirsty pilgrim. So it took some time, before finally the mother and manager of this hostel appeared and guided me to my room. It was a guesthouse on the other side of the street. Very clean. But no bathroom for my own, only on the floor - well, that's ok, but I was not aware of, when I booked it. I went out for dinner to the plaza mayor in front of the church, and then I slept very well - but nothing special to add to this place! The door of the guesthouse should always be locked, but actually it wasn't. So if you are not in your room, or if you're in the bathroom, do not leave your purse, phone or camera but take it with you!
