“poor rooms, great pool, moody staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2011

The welcome from the lady was ok,But when we first met Yannis and Dani (bar staff etc) they were not to frendly, rude. We found that Dani was only interested in the girls. One evening i took my daughter to the bar to get drink, i asked Dani for an orange juice he then stated to make some sort of cocktail, I stopped him and said what is that you are making i hope it is not alcohol? He said yes I said I asked for an orange juice! I said my daughter is only 14.he then shouted at me to speak up blaming me for his ineptitude. Very distasteful. We avoided the bar area after that because we felt very unwelcome, Yannis was a horrible man too. Tried to overcharge me by 15 euros one time and complained at me that we did not go to there bq. He seemed to be angry with us all the time. These two people ruined our holiday.it would wouldn’t it unless they like you then you will probaly have a good holiday.Everyday we found it hard to get a sunbed always covered with someones towels,So oneday i said to my daughter i would get up very early and put our towels out for once.We came out that morning and we could not see our towels but someone elses on the beds.I was looking around for them and a kind lady said are they you towels in the bottom of the pool? Yes Iater found out that Yannis had thrown them in them in after he sew me put them down. What a complete ****ole. We were supposed to be the customers!
The kitchen was a joke ,Sink fridge 3 forks 3 knifes 3 spoons, a bottle opener. a two hob camping stove stuck on the end of the sink. ABSOLUTLY no room to cook, cut just about managed to make a bowl of cornflakes and a cup of tea.I like to cook on holiday but found it impossible.so had to go out to eat every day. We would like to go out to eat but not on every time we were hungry that’s why we go SELFCATER...The pool area was nice, and the hotel has a good location next to a lovely beach, the local people were very nice.If you turn right at the end of the road and walk for 15 mins you will find some nice Greek taverners Alex,s is our fav. Maybe if you pay Dani and Yannis to be nice to you ,you may enjoy there company. Then again if you are female you will be fine

Myself and two uni friends stayed at the Olive Grove for 2 weeks in June and It's been the best holiday we've had yet!! Anyone leaving a negative review about this place needs a reality check. Firsty the location is fantastic, 1 minute walk from a secluded cove and only a 10 minute walk from the main strip - though there are plenty of fantastic tavernas/bars to eat at right on your doorstep (including the yummy food on offer at Olive Grove!) It's position away from the main bit of Sidari is perfect as it's very quiet but you're still close to the action. The pool and bar area were always immaculately clean and well looked after, the pool is a decent size and has a seperate section for children. We stayed in a 3 bed room and found the facilities to be above average compared to places we've stayed in Greece before. There was stacks of room, a proper kitchenette area and a decent bathroom. Saving the best to last.. the staff at Olive Grove were FANTASTIC! Yianni, Katerina, Steve and Dan were the friendliest most welcoming hosts you could ask for! We would definitely recommened attending the thursday evening BBQ - the food is amazing (almost too much to consume!) and the entertainment is even better. We will definitely be coming back here!

We had a great holiday. We had heard that the owner was rude to people who didn't use the bar. We only used the bar once due to everyone smoking, but still found the proprietor very obliging. Would use this hotel again.

The Olive Grove Apartments were absolutely fantastic. The rooms had what you needed and the poolside facilities were fab. The food served at the pool bar was amazing.

Yannis, Katerina, Steve and Dan all welcomed us and helped us settle in straight away. They were all extremely friendly and helped us enjoy one of the best holidays we have ever had.

I would definitely travel back to Sidari and stay at The Olive Grove again.

I stayed at Olive Grove with my girlfriend at the end of June into July.
Firstly, i cant believe some of the people reviewing below stayed at the same place.
On arrival we were met by Steve the daytime barman who kindly showed us to our room. Then came round to make sure we were ok with the room.
We stayed in room 2 on the ground floor which faces the pool and bar area. The room was nice and airy. Beds were comfy. Had a small kitchen area sufficient for the size of the room.
We had our first meal at the complex wich was just a snack (omelette & club sandwich). It tasted great. Could fault it.

We got to meet Yianni who runs the complex with his wife Katerina. They were the perfect hosts and always made us feel welcome.

We also met Dan, the night barman, who i cant praise highly enough. He made feel at home right from the get go. Always up for a laugh and kept the bar lively with a few drinking games.

We decided to go the weekly bbq which occurs on thursdays. What a great laugh. I highly recommened booking ur seat. The bbq meal was massive! Tasted great too. There was some Greek fire dancing which we all got involved in. Yianni and Katerina really got everyone in the mood.

Rooms were cleaned daily by the maid who did an excellent job.

Olive Grove is situated about a two minute walk from the nearest shop which opened until midnight. All essentials were available from there. A few minutes in the opposite direction was the beautiful cove. This little gem was a beautiful area with sun loungers. The water is very shallow for a long while in and there are clay rocks which u can cover yourself in. It is supposed to be great for the skin.

Overall, Olive Grove was a brilliant place to stay. For the money we paid, there's no reason i can think of That requires any negative reviews whatsoever.

I would recommend this complex 100% for familys, couples or groups of friends as all were there having a good time while we were staying.

The negative reviews don't match our experience or the service we received at all.
If i'm in the same area again then i shall be staying there again.

We have just got back from Olive Grove in Sidari and the hotel was the only thing that spoiled our otherwise perfect holiday. The only positive point I can mention is the hotel's impeccable location close to a small cute beach but the good points end here.

The room we stayed in was old and shabby. In the kitchen the cooker did not work at all so you couldn't even cook an egg on it. The bathroom was like in a one star hotel without any window or extraction fan. The swimming pool was tiny, always packed and the water looked murky - certainly not as clean as in any other pools we have seen around the area.

We had a greasy breakfast at the bar with small paper tasting sausages only twice, needless to say we did not return for any meals. This fact did not go unnoticed by the owners who certainly didn't seem to be as friendly to us and some other people who didn't eat much there for the remainder of the holiday.

Also worth mentioning is the outrageous wifi prices at 2 Euro per 30 minutes while the nearby hotels offer it completely free.

Even the local Greeks we have spoken to put on a wry smile as soon as you mention Olive Grove. At the end of our holidays the bar staff did not even say bye when we walked past the bar to go to the bus.

To sum it up, if all you do on your holiday is lay by the pool and suck up the drinks and food from the same place, you will probably have no issue with this. But if you don't stick around the hotel much and use it's services you will most likely feel uneasy and not made welcome.

This is our first ever review of a hotel we have stayed in (3 in total in Sidari prior to this one - Theodosia, Olga Apartments, Eleni Apts) so this is the only hotel that made us write a negative review. People work hard all year to go on holiday to do what they want and the host hotel and its staff are the ones who are supposed to make you feel welcome whatever you do, not selectively depending on how much you buy from the bar which is a norm for Olive Grove.

Definitely not recommended.

Room Tip: You will be unlucky to get the old building.
