The first impression was really good. This place looks really welcoming. After the most horrendous flight we were greeted very warmly by Emma who showed us to our room. This is the main negative for us. This was without a doubt the smallest room I have ever stayed in after 25 years of travel, having stayed in everything from 1 to 5 star properties. The beds are typically greek and quite hard but that is to be expected. The bathroom so tiny you had to practically limbo yourself around the 'cubicle' (too small to be called a room) that held a toilet, hand held shower and hand basin. The toilet seat was broken so everytime we tried to sit on it we would go flying. The shower tray also needed a clean. Not one to make a fuss - have encountered worse, I cleaned the shower tray and fixed the toilet seat. These are just points I am making as these points may upset some people more than others. We stayed in a 2 star in Zante last year and you could have fit this room into that one three times over!! Now I know you dont go on hols to stay in your room but if you are not one to prop the bar up all evening or the weather turns bad then your room is usually a place of sanctuary. This one was just barely adequate.
On a couple of occasions we were woken by late night drinkers returning in the very wee hours (3.30 am).
We had a kettle and good fridge. Plates and cutlery. The room was cleaned every other day.
The public areas were lovely. A nice big pool with lots of free sun loungers at all times of the day. A really well stocked bar. The most gorgeous food served here - probably the best in Corfu!! Certainly the meals we had there were as good if not better than any we had out. There was often some entertainment put on if you wanted it.
The real star of this place are the people. You could not meet nicer, kinder people. They work so hard and cant do enough for you.
The location is great. At the end of the road are two supermarkets. Its about 15 mins walk. I would suggest making this walk rather than using the little shop on site as they are much cheaper. When we arrived, in desperation for a cup of coffee we purchased a small tin of Nescafe in the little on site store and discovered we could buy a tin twice the size and cheaper down the road. If you turn left at the bottom of the road by the supermarket you start the walk down the main strip. The beach is also here. We didnt use it as its was an OK beach but not fab. The first half of the strip is a bit quieter and run down in places but as you go further, and you can walk for another 15 minutes it gets busier with lots of cafes, shops, bars and restaurants. At the far end is the Canal area which is another little village itself with more shops, bars etc.
We had breakfast and evening meal out at a variety of places and all except one were very good. Aquarius bar was awful. We both ordered Greek classics and they were small portions, bland tasting and the service bordering on poor.
We booked two excursions through Thomson before departing the uk. One was the Parga/Paxos trip the other the Blue Lagoon. The Parga/Paxos trip was disappointing. We were out for thirteen hours. Picked up at 7.45 and got back at 9pm. Only four of these hours are spent on the other islands - two hours each one. The rest of the time you are either on a bus or boat. There are limited outside seats on the boat so unfortunately like us you could be spending 9 hours indoors. If we had known this we would not have booked it. If you do decide to go ahead I would advise taking a book to read. The coach driver who was taking everyone back to their hotels was seemingly having an argument with someone on his mobile when we all got on. This must have affected his mood as he drove like a lunatic through the dark lanes which was terrifying. He also seemed to not know who was to be dropped off or where despite having a list. He actually shouted at a few people who did not hear when he announced one drop off and you could not see out the window as the glass was tinted and it was dark out by this time. We were the last ones off and even after telling the driver which hotel if we had not shouted out he would have driven right past it. I blame Thomson for this as up until a few years ago if you had a trip you would be accompanied by a Thomson rep. These days they take your money and leave you in the hands of the locals. Not very reassuring. Our second trip did not happen. The evening before, we had a fax sent to the hotel saying the trip was cancelled due to low participation. We later found out the trip did actually go ahead but they obviously felt that we were too far out of the way to collect. Nice. We are still waiting for our money back.
Overall, a good holiday but we would not return as we have enjoyed other places a lot more. If only every other hotel had an Emma, Telis and Alda and their chef!!

I wish you would have told me about your shower and toilet, sorry that you had to clean it
The room type you stayed in was a studio2, we have 6 of these room types, 3 in the middle of the block and 3 on the ends of the block. All with lovely pool views, 3 on the ground floor and 3 on the 1st floor. Unfortunatly the 3 in the middle are the smallest of all our rooms. When I allocate the rooms where possible I give the end rooms to those who stay for 2 weeks first giving them a bigger kitchen and bathroom with them staying for 2 weeks. During your stay we was full so unfortunatly could not move you to another room.
We also have studio3, that have more space, studio4 again more space with a bedroom and a lounge.
Thank you for your comments, for staying at our complex and for being lovely guests
