“Great stay on the Camino”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

Stayed here whilst trudging sorry walking the Camino and walked across the town adding over a mile to our weary boots but well worth the trek as the room and pillows were bloody amazing and the breakfast very good - Had a few drinks from the bar which were reasonably priced and served with a smile and the receptionist even helped us book the nexts nights hotel :)

Great staff thanks

Stayed here a couple of times during last years. The quality is good and remains. Just outside the citycenter it is pretty quiet.
Restaurant is a bit noisy but food is ok. The bar is tended by the reception but with good choice.

Design of the rooms is apart due to the industrial background of the building.

This opinion is JUST about the restaurant!

The restaurant had just opened and we gladly went to have lunch (my parents stayed in the hotel).

The service was very kind. The environment was really really good, as the whole hotel is decorated with motives of what it used to be in the past: a grain silo.

The views outside the window were also great! You can see the river that runs just behind the hotel, and a little terrace that the hotel has there.

The food was great, really really tasty (especially the meat with apple compote, which tasted really home-made... just delicious!).

Recommended :)

The website for the Hotel Tximista had advertised it as "on the Camino" it is not. It's about 45 minute walk from and back to the Camino. We ended up using a cab. It took us farther from the Camino and other Pilgrims than I like to be. I should have mapped it and I probably would not have stayed. But since we did I must say I really enjoyed it. The location along the River Ega was such a great spot to sit and relax after our daily Camino chores were completed. It's shady and grassy with comfortable chairs. The room was so different from any other place we stayed the whole time we walked. It's a converted 19th century mill. They have left some of the mill's pipes and it's a great contrast with the modern room. Spacious with a large bathroom and very clean. We did not eat in the restaurant we went to a little neighborhood place up the street we found. If you can, get a room in the back our room was on the street side and was a little noisy all night. The staff was very nice. I just looked again at their website and they now have a Perigrino Special. It also says if you call them they will send a cab for 7 euros. There was no laundry facilities so you had to hand wash. Perhaps since they now are catering to Perigrinos they have added a washer and dryer. That would be nice.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the back, on the river, the front rooms, on the street, tend to be a bit noisy.

Thank you very much for your review. It is very important and very good for other pilgrims who will pass this year.
Every day, we try to improve and the opinion of our customers motivates us to continue. But unfortunately, there are things like the location We can not change. The hotel is two kilometers from the camino. There are fifteen minutes by walk. If you add two kilometers to 25 km. from Puente (village in teh camino), can be very hard. There is a city bus that connects the Camino to the hotel every 30 minutes and if the client requests it, we can send a taxi to pick you up. For future pilgrims, we can help, if you come too tired to ask the taxi service or bus information. We also have salt baths for tired feet, drying racks for clothes, sewing kit, and laundry facilities. HAVE A GOOD CAMINO.

The hotel Tximista was kind of a nice experience. While hiking on the Camino in Spain, the Tximista is approx half an hour walking beside the camino trail, so you have to cross the town twice, as the hotel is situated on the other end.
The hotel itself was transferred from an old mill into a hotel a few years ago. The transformation was done very nice. On the entrance side, they started the building in the first floor, while sitting on pillars. The bar is a real nice place to sit and relax, lots of old mill tools and environment. Our room was just beside the lift, but we didn't hear anything. The room was very modern, all clean, just the bathroom needed some more care. The bed and sleeping was great. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel, both is served in the basement. The food was good and the servants were very caring, big compliment. The hotel also has a nice outside area with relaxing chairs overlooking the river. I would choose the hotel again, also for business purposes.

We arrived in Estella very tired from the Camino. The hotel is off the main route, but a 5 euro taxi gets you there from the area of the bus station.

The staff had excellent English and helped us find local info and even tried to find us bookings at our next stop, as their Spanish was much better than mine :)

The hotel is a modern conversation of an old flour mill. Lots of cool exposed beams and machinery, but very modern rooms. Our room had a king and a great shower/tub. Big tub for even a 6 footer to enjoy.

The restaurant serves a great set menu. Choice of starter, main and desert with wine and water all for 15 euros each. Plus fresh hot rolls that just kept coming.

Stayed here one night on route from Andorra to the Picos.

The converted mill is superbly done, the gardens, the rooms, etc are all to a very very high quality.

Reception staff very friendly.

We decided to eat in the hotel after a long day. Told the restaurant was open but they were surprised by our visit and had to make up a table and turn the lights on. The staff were rather "cold" but our Spanish and their English did make it a challenge!

Food though was superb and good value for money.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Unique in Spain, it recovers the splendour of an antique flour factory of the 19th century. In such a modern and vanguardist four-star hotel you can relax in either octogonal-shaped rooms or rooms which keep their old pulleys or beans crossing the factory and nowadays remain just like they used to be over one hundred years ago. A wide range of the hotel ornaments are the antique machinery of the old factory , such as the wooden conducts where the grain used to flow through, mills and antique sifting machines which make us go back to a stage where our octogonal-shaped bedrooms used to storage the cereal, a stage when the machinery working along with the water sound turned our café into a non-stop industrial activity .Arriving in the hotel means arriving in an monumental city born at the heat of the Santiago`s way known as the ¨ the Beautiful one¨ since the Middle Ages. Full of palaces, churches, monasteries and beautiful bridges Estella is situated at the foot of the Urbasa Range, where meadows and beeches mix with the idilic landscape of the plateau. ... more   less
