“Sobering”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

We didn't encounter any lines here when we went to the Memorial. There was a short movie we were able to see and also different displays. We were just in time for a complimentary tour of the cemetery which lasted an hour. The tour guide did a fabulous job and explained a lot of the history as well as highlighting a few of the soldiers/people buried there.

I was moved to tears with the whole feel of this sacred spot and appreciate all sacrifices that were made by such young and dedicated soldiers.

“Humbling and moving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

In school you are taught about World War 2.
Actually visiting the area where it happened is another thing.
This cemetery is so amazingly big, you cannot help being overwhelmed and made aware of how many lives were lost in World War 2.

“Amazing historical sight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013 via mobile

Moving and beatifull. The sight has the size of the event, the sacrifice and the American ability to honor heros.

Huge maps incorporated in the memorial describe the movements of the first days of June 1940.

Be aware that the people working there are not American at all. The security staff yelled at the visitors in a umprofessional way. The game is to push animals/visitors out as fast as possible.

“Beautiful and Moving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

This is a peaceful location, on a cliff overlooking Omaha Beach, with awe views. Nicely taken care off. The visitor center is very moving and a must see, although not for children, since some theatre exhibits and pictures are quite strong - keep them in the yard. On the day of our visit, a fighter jet did a low pass over the cemetery, letting everyone astonished!

“Very Moving.”

Don't miss this. So many lives lost. A beautifully maintained place that cannot be adequately described in words.
