We stayed 4 nights at La Sultana in Marrakesh before 3 nights here, so it had a lot to live up to. It did not disappoint. We were given an impressive welcome tour and told the history of the resort by the owner and creator Paul Foulsham, obviously and justifiably proud of his achievement. We have had some impressive breakfast views, but I think this was my favourite - really beautiful. Sunset and dusk were almost as lovely. Practical bits - once you are here, it's a real effort to dine elsewhere, but the food is excellent, though the menu is not vast and features only local cuisine (what we wanted anyway). The wine list is not that of a wine lover, but is adequate. The excursions were good - a short walk and medium walk (16km) with a cheery, friendly Berber guide were excellent. The all-day car tour plus walk was also spectacular, but we were left feeling very underexercised, with only 90 minutes' walking. The staff were excellent throughout - very friendly and eager to please - but do not expect 5-star sophistication. This is not "pamper me" but "come and enjoy the Atlas" - which hit the spot with us.
