Sel d'Ailleurs is perfect in every way. We arrived on New Year's Eve for a 3-night stay. We were immediately given the most delicious dinner (pastillas, then lamb with figs, then pudding, and a cake to celebrate New Year) and slept well in our charming converted barn bedroom, one of only 6 rooms set in very pretty gardens with a beautiful pool (sadly January was a little early to try that out). Our room had a little brick wendy-house inside at one end, which turned out to be the bathroom ! The next two days were blissful - a nice (short) walk one day by ourselves, a trip to the market in Imlil (via a shared cab - I had to sit on my boyfriend's knee, as we squashed in with 5 others), and a wonderful 5-hour walk with a guide (and, for lazy me, a donkey for when I got tired!) up through the mountains, via the salt wells, with a stop for lunch in a Berber village. Each morning we had breakfast on the (sunny but chilly when we were there) terrace by the main building, and each evening we had the most delicious meals by the fireside in the dining room, with nice local wine. Laairachy is the perfect host, and all the staff were welcoming and thoughtful. The chef is brilliant. Merci Laairachy et tous - c'etait un parfait sejour.
