“Spectacular hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

Wow, this hotel understands service, luxury and ultimately relaxing. There is a Spa with massages, a great pool with lounge beds (towels get cleaned and replaced during the day), rooms have a beautiful view on the ocean (not all of them). Hotel staff is very friendly, eager to help and make this the best holiday for you! We spend 3 nights and they were unbelievable. Hotel is close to capital and close to other beaches if you want to explore. Car rental is possible in hotel and costs 40 € per day.

Ended up at Hotel Christopher after a bad experience the first night at a local cottage which is not something that hotels in St. Barth's expect. We showed up after dinner one evening looking for a room for three nights which surprised the hotel staff. However, staff accommodated our request to see the rooms first. Our initial accommodations (at another property) had very poor ac and this was very high on our priority list. The regular room is small but well appointed. We settled on a very nice suite that had separate sleeping and living quarters and a gorgeous stone bath and adjacent shower. Mini bar was stocked with complimentary goodies including macaroons and other alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages. Espresso machine in room was a nice amenity. Private balcony overlooking the stony beach was very nice particularly at sunset. Food in the restaurant was very good as was the comprehensive breakfast included in the room rate. We toured the spa but chose against massages because they were open air. (We had been extremely hot for several days previously on Anguilla and then the first night onSt. Barth's so we opted for a balance of outdoor activities and those with AC). Having booked the evening of I don;t believe we got the very best rate but we were so uncomfortable we would have paid any price to change our circumstance. Then again....its St. Barth's and nothing is inexpensive anyway. This is a property that we highly recommend and will likely visit again. It is first class and very well done.

Room Tip: If it is in the budget, get the Presidential Suite. It was awesome.

We had a wonderful time at Hotel Christopher. As others have noted, the hotel does not have a beach you can walk on, but is on a rocky part of the shore that has a beautiful view of the water, other parts of the island, and most importantly, the sunset. The food and wine at Taino was excellent -- some of the best we had on the island. I was thoroughly impressed by the service. The gentleman on staff who assisted us with the car rental, Stefan I believe, was a total pleasure. Also kudos to the male brunette waiter -- we had him a number of times, and he was great. The staff went out of their way to get us converters for the outlets. Seamless transfers to and from the airport. Great fitness center. Would recommend to others looking for a St. Barth stay.

I thought the Christopher looked beautiful, but I was somewhat hesitant to book when I realized they did not actually have a beach. The Hotel is perched slightly above the water, and sitting in a pool chair looking out at gentle waves, turquoise water, more of the island across the bay and SUNSETS with a beverage in hand, just might be as good as it gets. The staff is gracious and friendly, and VERY accommodating.
Renting a car is a must if you want to truly enjoy the island and experience the fun and beautiful roller coaster roads of the island. Columbier and Saline were our favorite beaches. A round trip taxi ride to Gustavia for dinner will cost about $100
The rooms are beautiful, clean, great shower! Our stay was so relaxing, and we enjoyed the first class everything without the pretentiousness that often accompanies a terrific hotel.
It is hard for me to imagine that anyone could stay here and not LOVE The Hotel Christopher.
As Olivier from reception says Best Sunny Regards!

When problems arose with a villa rental, we were put up for one night at Christopher. It's a trendy, well appointed hotel on its own beach - rare for St. Barts. Morning buffet-dining on the water was lovely, but the best part about ending up here was discovering the wonderful beach restaurant, Mango. Feet in the sand, we enjoyed perfectly chilled rosés and excellent food. A constant gentle breeze, light music in the background, and cheerful attentive service topped it off. Suitably impressed, we dined here several times and each time enjoyed it immensely. It's our new favourite - and lest we sound too gushing, we've visited many spots in St. Barts over the course of 20 years and none has combined so many elements so beautifully.

We have been going to St Barts for 25 years. Our recent trip for 5 days was to Hotel Christopher, our first to this recently renovated hotel. It was nothing short of fabulous. Most hotels on St Barts are not on a beach; most people drive to the beautiful 'natural' beaches which have no hotels or amenities. The Christopher is well located in Point Milou. It has an amazing relaxing elegance. The staff are wonderful and attentive. No request was too much. The rooms were outstanding and beds very comfortable. This will absolutely be our new hotel in St Barts!

We have recently returned from a 5 day stay at the Christopher Hotel as part of a four island- hopping vacation. Without question St. Barths is the best island we have visited and we have been to most of the islands in the Caribbean. It is an expensive island but there are a wide range of restaurants in Gustavia and the other towns to suit all pockets.

From the first contact with the hotel making the booking, we found that all the staff were extremely helpful and efficient. The hotel is really well run and the staff go out of their way to be friendly. The pool area is beautiful, probably the largest hotel pool on the island. There were always plenty of pool chairs available and they were luxuriously padded making it very easy to relax all day at the pool if you so desired.

Lunch is served in the Mango restaurant built on sand. The menu is delicious and the atmosphere so relaxing.
We did not eat dinner at the hotel as we wanted to experience other restaurants on the island. On our way to dinner one evening we stopped for drinks at the famous Eden Rock hotel. There was a lovely view of the water from the hotel bar but from what we saw of the hotel, we preferred the Christopher.

For some people a negative would be that this hotel does not have a beach. However there are many lovely beaches around the island including the St. Jean beach near the airport where you can sit at the end of the airport runway and watch the planes arriving a few feet above you- worth doing at least once. There is also a bar and beach café there. Other beaches definitely worth visiting are Anse de Gouverneur and Anse de Grande Saline. Both of these can be easily accessed by car. The hotel will loan you chairs and beach umbrellas to take out at no cost. It is essential to rent a car to get around and see the whole island. We rented through the hotel. Parking at the hotel is very limited but the valet looks after that each time you come and go from the resort.

Be sure to visit the Villa Creole shopping area in St. Jean to browse for souvenirs.

On arrival at the airport we were met by a very friendly driver who offered us cool towels and water on the short journey to the hotel. There are several well stocked mini-marts along the road from the hotel to St. Jean, the nearest being at L’Orient. There are also bakeries where you can pick up picnic food if you want to take a picnic to the beach.

In summary this is a fabulous, well run hotel on a lovely sophisticated island and is well worth a visit.
