“Amazingingly comfortable rooms!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

I'm not sure about the other reviewers but my experience was one to remember. I booked a DLX plunge pool room and upon arrival i asked if i could have a beach front room. The offer for the upgraded room was extremely reasonable and i accepted it. My room was beautiful and i loved the outside living room which was not only literally 2 steps from the beach but it gave me a gtreat place to rest in the afternoons. (commonly known as a nanna nap!)
When the weather is as hot as it is in Thailand it was great to have my own pool and to have an outside living room as trying to rest in an air-conditioned bedroom is not why we go to these places.
Don't be fooled by thinking you need to stay right in the heart of Nightlife territory in Chaweng as it is extremely noisy at night - this hotel is just close enough yet far enough to avoid the nightime music and yet is is a beautiful/romantic 10 min stroll along the beach.

Room Tip: if you can afford it go for the beachfront rooms (there are only 4 of them) to be able to sit and re...

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

We we're looking for a place to stay for quite sometime and finally decided to stay at The Briza.

I booked online and then called them up for transfers from the airport. I was stated it was 750 bar up and the same back.

I advised my other half we will catch a taxi there as it was only 4k's up the road.

Lucky i did this as it was much cheaper to start of with. Not to mention i paid for a 5 star resort that should have included transfer to airport and back regardless.

When we arrived we wait approx 30min, and beleive me after a flight and so much heat the last thing we want to be doing is waiting around.

We chose the delux plunge pool villa as we thought this would be a much better room.

As we got into our room, the aircon was not on, had to wait for that to cool down and we were shown around the room. They then showed us the spare room that was across our main room which was very odd. We paid for a delux only to have a huge spare room that either of the 2 of us would ever use. We then asked them to kindly clean the pool as there were leaves everywhere. Which they did i must say.

As we explored the room i then came across the menu. I then discovered it was extra to order food to your room, you had to pay for the mosquito repellants which is an absolute joke. Makes you wonder if it is a 5 star resort? or 3? and if we had chosen the right villa resort.

Upon trying to speak to staff there english is very broken and communication is way too hard.

Our room was a few flights up which was a pain and we would always have to call out for a buggy if we had returned with shopping to get to our room.

Not to mention the worst thing about it was the smell. It constantly smelt like Sewidge and the smell was very, very unpleasant. The spare room was even worse. This was not something we we're happy about and were reluctant to walk outside so we don't smell it. Although at times it did smell in the room we had just got used to it.

I must however mention that the restaraunt staff were absolutely amazing and very friendly. we did eat a couple of times on the beach at the back of our resort and found it relaxing and very much enjoyable with the 2 piece band that they have playing in the evenings.

Overall i don't beleive this is a 5 star resort and not worth the money we paid that's for sure.

As Koh Samui is beautiful in it's own way, we were very much disappointed we didn't get the same type of room or better than we had in phuket which we paid less for.

Room Tip: Stick to the plunge pool room not delux. You will not use the spare room at all and waste of money a...

This is the worse hotel ever we have stayed in any of our holidays in Thailand. Please DO NOT GO THERE. We arrived there after we had booked deluxe plunge pool sea view with Asia Room, first we were kept for 20 minutes to check in and after we were taken to the room it was a terrible room with no view and no privacy at all.The rooms are all old and dirty. After we complained to the staff that this is not we booked we were told that this not their problem in a very rude ans aggressive manner and if we don't like it we can leave the resort. We even talked to the assistant manager and she told us that it is not their problem and that's the only thing they can offer and after we refused to stay in the resort they wanted to charge us a cancellation fee which I totally refused to pay and they were left with no choice but to refund me.All I can say is this is not even a 3 star Hotel and far away from all the shopping and dinning areas. Please DO NOT GO THERE. You can get much better places for this rate.

We stayed at the Briza with our friends. We really enjoyed our time as the hotel offered amazing facilities and service by the staff. We loved the beach front pool villa as they were relaxing, spacious and beautiful. The restaurant was also second to none. One time we came back to the hotel at 4:30am and one receptionist got a buggie and drove us too the room without us asking him too. I felt the briza offered a new world in luxuriousness and beauty.

We stayed at the Briza for our honeymoon. We loved the private, large villa we stayed in. The quiet, lovely beach front was so relaxing. We preferred it to the busier, louder section further down. The restaurant was very good. The staff were beautiful people who wanted to please and always offered a smile.
The massage service out the front was the best I had on the island. And my husband hired a jet ski out the front twice without having to wait. I felt the Briza offered a real cultural experience which is what we look for when traveling.

Best possible location however as they say looks can be deceiving!!
Please do not take up this hotel or else a beautiful place called kohsamui would become a bad memory for you!
We checked in the hotel at 12 in the night- we were 4 adults and 2 kids , 3 and 8 years old. we could not find anyone at the reception. when someone came - instead of greeting and welcoming us, they gave us a host of instructions-
- full charge for breakfasts for 3 and 8 year old costing 900 bhat
- if we loose the key, we will have to pay the hotel 3000 bhats
- if we break a glass kept on the wash basin in the room- we pay them 200 bhat each glass
- anyother damage, we will bear the cost

All this happened at 12 am when our kids were clinging on to us and desperate to get some sleep!

We had taken a pool villa and reached the room and realised the AC was not working in one of our rooms. we asked the reception and they took 45 min to come and do the needful. the hotel does not have a housekeeping department.
Next morning,we realised,
- the pool was dirty, we requested for a cleaning thrice, nothing was done.
- morning breakfast, only 2 adults went for breakfast with 2 kids. the hotel still charged for the kids, we 4 breakfast for adults was included in our package. Justification given to us, its the policy of hotel! we asked to c the policy, they said they cant share with us!
- we requested for some milk creamer, to our shock, they refused to provide more than 2 refills.

Next day, the room was not cleaned till 1 pm, we requested twice for cleaning. Finally we left the key in the room and informed the reception to clean the room.
We came back and found that some cosmetics kept on the dressing table were missing. we called and reported at the reception and asked them to check with the housekeeping reception. they said they cant understand what we are talking about and told us to come to the reception. basic manners, you dont ask your guests to come to the reception, you go to their room for clarification.
We went to the reception and told them that stuff is missing from our room. to our horror, they said in broken english that "we are doing a drama".
we requested for an early check out after the entire incidence. they said they will forfeit all our money for 5 nights that we had booked the hotel for. We tried to negociate with them, but to no respite. we decided to check out and shift to baan haad, a five start property next to that.
the last thing we wanted to hear from them was when we were checking out of the hotel they told us never to return to their hotel! Apparently, a chat with the other guest sharaing similar experiences revealed that person at the front desk was " Neung" would deal with all the guest like this only.
in short, the hotel people are thieves with one simple motive of taking out money from all guest!
PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL ATALL.

Room Tip: bad hotel , totally hopeless

The Briza is supposed to be a 4/5 star resort. It is definitely not!! It is run down and in desperate need of a make over. Front office staff not welcoming, did not receive welcome drink or cold towel as part of our package. Had to ask for it. They were more concerned about telling us that we needed to pay for the keys if we lost them than rather than making us feel welcome. When we arrived at our room they again were very disappointing, yes they were roomy and quite clean but there were problems with electricity and the beds are like sleeping on a slab of cement. The bright green cement colored floors are definitely horrible. One couple we talked to had not had hot water for 2 nights. We actually were so disappointed on our first impressions we asked for our money back and wanted to find one where else to stay that is what it advertises. Again the font office and management personnel were quite rude and unhelpful. The gym is way below standard, the doors are still key operated and only given 1 key per room. I would NOT recommend styling at this resort. It is more like a 3 star resort and that is being nice.
