“Perfect Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

My wife and I have just returned from one of our best holidays ever. We celebrated her birthday with a son from Sweden and friends from Melbourne and will never be able to speak highly enough of the Chaweng Regent Beach Resort. The staff were all wonderful and a special thanks must go to Camillo who looked after us so magnificently. We were initially placed in an upstairs room, however as I suffer from a knee that needs replacing Camillo asked if I could endure it for one day and he would move us into a ground floor room, great room and made our holiday even better. We celebrated my wifes birthday in the Red Snapper Restaurant and we had the six course meal, what an absolute cracker, could not have asked for anything better. Wonderful service, Jack was great, and the food was just magnificent.
We were unable to find the faults that others complained about on Trip Advisor but then again each person views minor problems in a different way. If you go to a new area with no expectations you can always be pleasantly suprised, which we were.
I will happily recommend this resort to family and friends.

Room Tip: We had a room one the left hand side going down toward the Beach (192) and this was great. The bed w...

Hi, recently returned from 8 day break from Chewang Regent Beach Hotel. I generally don’t leave feedback, put had such a great holiday wanted to share my experiences. I reviewed the hotel prior to booking and there were a few negative comments, which I would consider a little too harsh having just stayed at the hotel. As soon as we got out of our taxi and arrived in reception, staff couldn’t do enough for you, very friendly helpful, couldn’t ask for more. We had a room overlooking the pool, good size, modern, immaculately clean, rooms cleaned daily. The resort beautifully maintained 2 good sized pools with plenty of space for everyone. We had breakfast included, very good, something to suit all tastes.
The beach very beautiful, soft golden sands. The staff very attentive, great little beach bar and restaurant, food really good too. Quite a few hawkers about on the beech selling usual stuff, ice creams, soft drinks, fruit, corn etc. Very laid back and no real hassle. Would recommend papaya salad from the lady’s on the beach, very refreshing, sweet, sour, salty and hot! We hired mopeds for the week about 150 baht a day, very cheap, seen lots of the Island, some great little quiet beeches about. The roads not particularly busy, obviously common sense applies, although not for everyone.
Overall couldn’t fault the facilities and the people, one small thing to note, there’s a little work going on a few of the rooms, which didn’t affect our holiday, noise was minimal and the areas being worked on, all tastefully hidden from view. We were made aware of this as soon as we arrived, and didn’t affect our experience at all. Like to say a big “Thank You” to all the staff !! Great Job. Would recommend Chewang Regent Beach Resort to anyone.

Stayed in October 2012. Got a great deal from the Regents own website for a Spa Villa for 7 nights. We had spent one night in a sub standard hotel in Samui and moved here. The room was perfect, spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were all wonderful, very friendly and always helpful. The gardens were tranquil and an escape from the full on streets outside. Location was perfect, right in the heart of everything, and the hotel food was great, from breakfast to the Red Snapper restaurant. The hotel is right on the beach and beach and poolside staff are very attentive. This hotel made our stay perfect. The only thing to watch for in the next few months is that some new building was beginning there the day we left and it looked like it might take a few months. If you get the right rooms, it should not be a problem.
I have travelled the world for many years and can really recommend this hotel highly.

Room Tip: Just make sure your room is not too close to the new renovations happening the end of 2012. I recom...

Booked 2 premier rooms for our stay. There were 5 women staying for our friends 50th birthday celebrations. We had already been in Phuket for 8 days staying at the Katathani which was fantastic and we were looking forward to Koh Samui. When we arrived we were shown our room which had no view of anything and because of the renovations had limited access, so this meant we would have had to walk right back to reception then around to pool/ beach. We were informed by our travel agent that the renovations were starting late November, we arrived the 28th October. Also the restaurant on the beach where breakfast was supposed to be served was under renovations and was out of action. We requested better rooms only to be told there weren't any available. I don't believe this as there were not that many people around. We had to downgrade ourselves to a deluxe room (177) which then had a slight side view over the garden pool slightly further away from the renovations. The beds were so hard it was like sleeping on a concrete slab even with the mattress toppers. As compensation we were offered a meal in the Red Snapper Restaurant. Arrived at the restaurant excited about our meals only to be told we couldn't order from the normal menu and had to have the set menu and the choices were very limited. 4 entree, 4 mains to choose from. A bottle of wine was sitting on the table in the searing heat so asked for ice. One of our party didn't drink wine and was told she would have to pay for her drink. After becoming angry she was offered a cocktail. We ordered our meals and the waiter returned to the table to inform us there was only 2 servings of the pork available and one of the duck. So we had to change our choices to something else on the limited set menu. No one finished their meal as the food was terrible. After reading reviews on this restaurant we expected a lot more. This evening was so embarrassing for everyone, ourselves and the waiter. It was a poor attemp at compensation for the money we lost on our rooms. As this was the second time that two of our party had stayed at the Chaweng Regent they were so disappointed. The girls were all leaving on the 2nd of November and I had arranged for my husband to fly in to celebrate his 60th birthday at the Regent with me. There was no way I was going to stay there after the week we had just had, so I rang my tavel agent in australia and asked her to change my booking for the coming week. I checked out of the Regent and into the Amari Palm Reef another resort further up the road. When the manager realized I was checking out he then invited me to look at the spa villas for when my husband arrived. It was too little too late. He wasn't interested in me until he realized he was losing a customer and money. This resort needs to be more customer focused, change their beds to something comfortable so people can sleep on their holidays and be more accommodating when things don't go right. It is looking very tired and in need of the renovations, especially around the garden pool area and board walks. It should be the best resort as it is the best position. Right in the middle of the beach and shops in Chaweng. Hopefully when the renovations are finished things will improve greatly. The beach pool was fabulous and the staff around the pool were beautiful and so accomodating. If I were ever to return to the Chaweng Regent I would pay the extra money and book the rooms that overlooks the beach and pool. Our stay could have been so much better had the management considered the customer, not the dollars involved. We actually lost money and in the end so did they.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and get the room near the beach pool. The view and accessibility would be the best.

Dear Kerry J,

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review from your recent stay at Chaweng Regent Beach Resort.

I was disappointed to read your comments regarding your stay and it is clear that we fell short in delivering our usual high end service during your stay.

I have noted all your comments and I will investigate them. It obivously did not help that the meal offered was a disappointing one and please rest assured that it was not our intention to restrict your meal to the set menu. I would like to offer my sincere apologies for the miscommunication and please trust that procedures will be implemented immediately in order to avoid such cases.

I apologize again for our shortcomings and you can rest assured I will look into them and appreciate the constructive feedback.

we arrived at the hotel and were taken to our rooms only to find that we didnt have a garden view but of a construction site " which was not mentioned on there site " i was very disappointed but as soon as we approached the front desk the told us they would upgrade us free of charge to the spa villas which still had construction close to it but it didnt bother us after that the room was clean and spacious and even our own out door hot tub.

the beach was clean and quiet and not to far from the beach activities. as for the staff they were nice and helpful
the only down side was that the wifi was expensive and did not come complimentary with the room all in all a good stay

We arrived at late night and found out that our bungalow wasn't ready but they wanted to "upgrade" us to the main building superior room. Reason given was that they had some renovation work going on (and they haven't updated the website). We chose to stay at the bungalow as that was one of the criterias to choose the hotel in the first place.

The room was a bit smelly and moist but we soon adjusted to that and it didn't really bother us after few moments of the a/c on. What was a bit of a disappointment to us was the breakfast which was below to Thai standard after living in the country and visiting Thailand more than 10 times. Some how we also had missed the fact that the wifi was not free of charge. On the contrary, it was quite expensive 99 BHT for one time use or apprx 300 BHT for 3 days. Plenty of free wifi at cafes and bars around the hotel though.

We did not try the in-house restaurants since all the Chaweng beach restaurants were only short walk away and seemed a bit more lively and with more variations on menu.

Overall the place was wee bit below "worth the money" in good location, gardens were well kept and lush, walking paths nicely covered with wood and pools and beach looked both cosy and clean.

On the other side, place is slightly need in renovation, bungalow patios had no privacy and they could upgrade the breakfast to more variety.

Room Tip: In case you choose bungalow, check the availability on south side bungalows as they have presumably...

Don't let the fact that this hotel is slap bang in the middle of Chaweng put you off. It has a long strip of private beach and two very decent sized pools. It never felt busy or crowded.
We were upgraded on arrival from a premier room to a suite. There is some upgrading work being done on the hotel just now which probably accounted for this.At no time did we hear any noise from this work being carried out.
The room itself was a good size and had everything you would expect . No complaints there.
The breakfast buffet was of a good standard and the staff efficient. We ate once beachside for lunch which was expensive for what it was and rather disorganised, and once at the Chomtalay  restaurant, where we had a very nice dinner buffet on the beach ,very good value (650 baht per person)- freshly made som tum, banana flower and chicken salad, Tom kha gai , massaman curry as well as various nice seafood dishes.
The one downside to this hotel is that if you want wifi in your room ( it's free in public areas) you have to pay for it with a voucher system. It also only works for one device at a time, so not much use if two of you want to be on line at the same time.Otherwise recommended.
