“Great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013 via mobile

Spotless grounds and spotlessly clean rooms. We were in the rooms at the back and ours was big and fresh. The air con kept inside cool despite the heat and humidity outside. Little things like two umbrellas and a pool bag make your stay easier.

The staff, every one of them greats you with a smile and hello.

The food around the pool and the bar is good. The variety of things for breakfast is amazing. You would need to be extremely fussy if you can't find something to suit you.

It is located at the quiet end of the main street. Everything you could want (food, shopping, beach, massage, entertainment) is within strolling distance.

We held our daughters wedding at the Amari. They could not have provided a prettier, more professional and cost effective ceremony and reception, including a traditional water ceremony and dancers and drummers. The food was superb and so much more than we could eat. We could never have afforded something half as good in Australia and it would have been 10 times harder to organise. I saw a wedding at a nearby resort a few days later and it was not even close to what the Amari provided.

We stayed at the Amari for the second time in the last 8 years and I can honestly say both times have been really good. We did have a issue booking with the hotel and also when we got there we had requested a room early as we were travelling with a 5 month old baby which they stated "they would recommend for this to occur" on arrival this was not available after a long chat they gave us a room in there staff area and look it wasn't great but it was clean and somewhere we could get a 5 month a old bottle. This was soon forgotten the rooms were clean and well designed but we stayed beach side and they were a little tiny. The food was fab and very well priced. The happy hour was very good and the cooktails were very nice and well priced at buy one get one free.

We would highly recommend this resort for families but be mindful there is no kids club. This time we stayed with a 5 month old baby but last time a 5, 7, 3 and 1 year old there needs were well catered for. Room service second to none, food fab and staff very friendly. Great location walking distance to everything without being to busy.

We hired a car this time and loved it even more

Kim :-)

Room Tip: Beach side is nice but the room are a lot smaller

Hi Kim,

Thanks a lot for your review and great to hear you had a nice time with us! We are actually planning on setting up a Kids Club soon, so perhaps next time you visit when your little one is a bit older she will have a place of her own to play!

Hope to see you back again soon,

Best wishes,

Martin

We had attended a wedding in Koh Samui but on the quiet side of the island at Lipa Noi - as a comparison we spent the last three nights in Chaweng but we were ready for the congestion and and hustle and bustle. Amari is a beautiful resort set amongst well tended gardens with all the facilities we needed. The resort is split into two sections - we were over the road away from the beach but this was fine as there was a beaut swimming pool right outside our door. The gym was also on our side but we did not use it. The breakfasts were amazing and there were slightly different foods on offer each morning. We were made to feel very welcome and service was very attentive - there was a slight problem with translation but we just kept asking till we made ourselves understood. The beach was nice and clean and the location great. You could walk straight to shops and market stalls and there were plenty of restaurants around. Hiring a bike was simple as there were many options to choose from within walking distance. We had one problem that the hotel asked for a credit card as security and we offered our travelcard and unfortunately they put a hold of 3000 THB for the duration of our stay which meant there was about $100 of last minute spending money unavailable - we should have offered an ordinary credit card. The rooms were airconditioned and the temp was too cold - we adjusted this but felt we would have like a sheet on the bed when there was only a quilt. It was a luxurious accommodation and we loved it - there was free wi-fi on offer but we occasionally had trouble connecting. All in all we would recommend this resort.

Room Tip: Rooms over the road away from the beach are private and quiet but a little further to walk to breakf...

Hi Heather,

Many thanks for your review, and glad to hear you had an enjoyable stay with us. Quite a contrast here in Chaweng from Lipa Noi!

Best wishes and hope to welcome you back again one day soon,

We stayed at the hotel over New Year. Breakfast is amazing! So much choice. The New Year's Eve gala dinner was a little disappointing. Our room was lovely and very tastefully decorated. Staff were very friendly. The only disappointment was the resort of Chaweng - it is far too commercialised and busy. There are too many travellers visiting en route to the full moon party.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view room

Hi and thanks for your review!

A pity you didn't enjoy Chaweng so much, it certainly is a bustling place...especially at that time of year. It is a lot more peaceful out of the high season so perhaps you could visit us during one of those times.

Best wishes from Samui,

Martin

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

I have previously reviewed this hotel following our honeymoon stay in September 2011. The hotel is set on a beautiful beach with the busier nightlife of Chaweng just a 5 minute walk by beach or road. It is also 10 mins from the airport. We had such an amazing experience first time around we decided to make it our mission to return in January 2013 and boy were we not disappointed. After a rather stressful overnight delay in Bangkok & early morning arrival we received the most heart warming welcome the Amari team complete with cold towels & chilled drinks & an effortless check in. We immediately recognised some of the staff on check in which only added to the welcome back experience. We were shown to our beautiful room which awed us completely. We had contacted the hotel & asked if possible could we have a room across the road from the beach & front pool, we felt it was quieter in terms of less people. We appreciated that this may not have been possible, but were totally thrilled so find we had indeed a room there, complete with balcony & pool view. The room was beyond our needs in terms of space, wonderful huge bed with the most comfortable duvet & pillows, a free standing shower with large shower head, giving the most amazing showers, bath, full wall length mirror in room, tv, dvd, fridge, iron & board, safety deposit box, beach bag, robe & slippers, umbrellas...all we felt we missed from home was the kitchen sink! The hotel is divided by a road. The crossing is actually manned ensuring you safe crossing not that the road it busy, but it just adds to the sense of safety and security you feel staying at the Amari. The buffet breakfast is beyond your imagination, a food lover’s dream. Everything you could possibly want from every continent. It is self service which is fantastic & fresh tea & coffee or Cappuccino, latte whatever it is you require is served to you with a smile by the wonderful staff. We ate almost every day at the pool bar which we realised nearly all residents at the hotel seemed to do. We would highly recommend the steak night which is on Tuesdays, and there is Happy Hr every evening from 6-8 & all night on Thursdays. It’s essentially buy one get one free. Beautiful quality cocktails working out at 200Bht for 2 – amazing value! Prego is a must also. On arrival all guests are given the option of a discounted spa visit to Breeze Spa, which I availed of. 90 minutes of a signature mood massage left me forgetting cancelled flights and truly set the tone of the holiday. There is an amazing management team at the Amari, on checkout which was as smooth and effortless as check in, we felt we couldn’t have thanked Martin, Juliane and all the wonderful staff enough. Our room was immaculately kept by housekeeping, grounds men are constantly manicuring the beautiful grounds around the hotel and everyone is so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We are counting down the days to our next visit. I would recommend this hotel for everyone, couples, honeymoon couples, we met families in early 30’s/40’s with young children, and retired couples and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. The sense of safety and security of home with the luxury and trappings of a 5 Star Holiday!

Room Tip: As hotel is separated by a road, we chose the side opposite to reception & dining area. we felt...

Great Hotel, right on the beach, great pool, 7 min walk from Chaweng center ( main road ) with lots of Bars, Clubs and shops, around 5000 THB per night. GYM is OK for a quick work out.
Breakfast looked the same for the 4 days we were there but still you can find good food.

if you are chilling by the pool get drinks and fruit for the vendors at the beach ( it's a better deal )

Room Tip: Amari has two sides to the hotel one on the side closer to the beach and one across the road, I was...
